"...What am I looking at right now?" Y/n asked as they witnessed Peridot squirming around, trying to grab a microwave while she was leashed to a nearby fence
"I put Peridot on a leash," Garnet told
"I see that," Y/n said, "...But why?"
"She was being annoying," Garnet said
"You never tied her up to a fence before," Y/n commented
"She asked me to unfuse because it made her uncomfortable," Garnet informed, "Her having free reign of the place made me incredibly uncomfortable,"
"Ah," Y/n nodded
"Ah, Y/n just the person I wanted to see," Pearl approached, "Do you have any tungsten on you?"
"Not on me, no," Y/n told
"Do you know where we can obtain tungsten?" Pearl asked
"Not for cheap, but yeah," Y/n said
"In large quantities?" Pearl clarified
"...I'll find a supplier, give me an hour or two," Y/n said
"Much appreciated," Pearl smiled as she walked off
"Yo, Y/n!" Amethyst called, "Back already?"
"School's out for today," Y/n told
"I just need some sort of leverage optimizer," Peridot grunted as she tried reaching for a nearby screwdriver
"Leverage optimizer?" Amethyst laughed a bit
"That's what I said," Peridot confirmed
"Ooooh! Ha, you mean you want a screwdriver?" Amethyst asked with a laugh
"Do you have one or not?" Peridot groaned, "Oh! The Y/n has returned again!"
"Peridot, just call them Y/n," Steven told, "No 'the' involved,"
"Right," Peridot groaned, "Y/n, these clods are not being helpful, hand me a leverage optimizer,"
"Say please," Y/n said as they picked a screwdriver off the floor
"Ugh, please?" Peridot said
"Here's your screwdriver," Y/n smiled as they handed it over
"He-hey, hey Peridot, what do you call this?" Amethyst laughed as she pointed to her nose
"Scent sponge," Peridot replied
"Huh?" Steven frowned as he looked down to his nose
"Okay, what's this?" Amethyst held open her eye
"Vision sphere," Peridot said
"Peridot, that's—" Steven tried to correct
"Wait, wait, Steven. Peridot, these?" Amethyst wiggled her fingers
"Touch stumps," Peridot said as she clenched her teeth, clearly annoyed
"Guys, you're bothering her," Y/n warned
"This?!" Amethyst laughed as she pointed to her foot
"Gravity connectors!" Peridot seethed
"This?!" Amethyst pointed to her butt
"THAT'S YOUR BUTT," Peridot yelled in annoyance
"Oh man, Peridot, you're killing me!" Steven laughed hysterically and he slapped the microwave
"I am not! That would violate our truce agreement!" Peridot reminded
"No, no, no— You're funny!" Amethyst told
"F-unny?" Peridot tilted her head
"Peridot, if you can get the magnetron out of that microwave, we'll have everything we need, " Pearl approached, "Except for the drill head and tungsten, how's that going Y/n?"
"Working on it," Y/n said
"Why don't I just get an injector drill head from the Kindergarten?" Peridot suggested
"Oh, well, I guess that's something you could try," Pearl said tentatively
"She's not going to the Kindergarten without a chaperone!" Garnet called out
"You've got to be joking!" Peridot groaned
"You'll know when I'm joking," Garnet responded
"Nyehhh," Peridot made an odd face as she shrunk towards Y/n
"Y/n, Me, and Steven can go with her!" Amethyst suggested
"I've gotta stay behind and get the tungsten stuff in order," Y/n said
"If I am required to have a chaperone, I demand that Y/n is one of them!" Peridot snapped
"You can get the tungsten once you come back," Pearl assured
"Alright, I guess we can keep an eye on her," Y/n said
"Approved. Keep her in line, Y/n," Garnet said
"You got it," Y/n gave a thumbs up

"Log date- 7112. The Amethyst, The Y/n, and the Steven have volunteered to help me dismantle this Era 1 drill. How stylistically displeasing. The newer ones have a nicer finish," Peridot spoke into an old tape recorder
"You making more nerd notes?" Amethyst asked
"What is nerd?" Peridot frowned, earning a chuckle from Amethyst, "Can you use it in a sentence?"
"Ahem. Nerd. You are a nerd," Amethyst laughed
"Amethyst! Cut that out!" Steven called
"As you can see, this planet is annoying and everything is annoying," Peridot spoke into the recorder, then looked up at Y/n and back down, "Almost everything... Amongst its transgressions is the need for the Amethyst to ask permission from the perma-fusion,"
"Perma-fusion"? Is that what you call Garnet?" Amethyst asked
"I could call her lots of things. I could call her two things! Two clods!" Peridot gave off her signature laugh, "Walking around like she's... one clod!"
"What's wrong with that?" Steven asked
"She's not even fighting! She's, you know, she's just, y-you know like the..." Peridot pounded her fists together, "You know!"
"You're a real gem, Peri," Amethyst laughed while Steven pushed his fits together, confused
"Yes, I am.... a gem," Peridot said
"Okay, okay. Do Steven next. What's weird about Steven?" Amethyst laughed
"Where do I even begin! He's some sort of hybrid abomination, I don't even understand how he functions! His organic half consumes so much energy that he has to constantly feed, and he spends so much time expelling, that he has a whole room dedicated to it!" Peridot snickered
"Ah, no, something else! Talk about something else!" Steven blushed, "Talk about Y/n!"
"The Y/n," Peridot clapped her hands together in anticipation, "They don't even make sense! First, I'm told humans are so fragile they can't survive a twenty foot drop off a roof, but the Y/n can survive a drop over 327,000 feet and an explosion? That is just illogical! You'd think they're a gem, but they clearly are not! And now they somehow have the ability to travel time as well? It makes no sense!"
"I'm an enigma," Y/n laughed
"The strangest thing is, Amethyst, you think you have to listen to them!" Peridot laughed, "You're the one who should be in charge!"
"Ha, that's your best joke yet," Amethyst said
"No, really. Pearl is a pearl, Garnet is a fusion, I don't even know what he's supposed to be!" Peridot pointed to Steven
"Hey!" Steven frowned
"Despite their capabilities, Y/n is supposedly a human, so they clearly can't be in charge," Peridot waved off
"Supposedly?" Y/n frowned
"I have my doubts about your true origins," Peridot peered
"Ronaldo 2.0 over here," Y/n groaned
"You're the only Crystal Gem, that's actually a Gem!" Peridot told Amethyst
"Umm," Amethyst laughed nervously, "What?"
"You outrank everyone on your team. They should be listening to you! You're a strong, singular, fully-functional soldier, despite the fact you're defective," Peridot said
"Okay, let's just end this con-" Y/n began
"Defective?" Amethyst questioned
"Well sure! You're small!" Peridot said
"So?" Amethyst crossed her arms
"Well, you're not supposed to be! Hold on, wait, wait. Let me guess," Peridot walked over to one of the holes in the wall, "This! This is the hole you came out of! Too small, too low. The exit marks look 500 years newer than every other hole. Hmm, this place must have been empty when you came out. No wonder you have no idea what you're supposed to look like!"
"Peridot," Steven went to cut off
"What was I supposed to look like?" Amethyst asked
"Well, you're a quartz. They're huge, loyal soldiers. You should be twice your size. Broad shouldered, intimidating. But you simply stayed in the ground too long," Peridot informed
"Are you saying I'm wrong?!" Amethyst raised her voice
"Gemetically speaking, yes. When you think about it it's all so..." Peridot began to laugh, "Funny!"
"Amethyst?" Steven looked up to her
"Hey, soldier. Maybe you can help me get this hunk of drill off-" Peridot began, but Amethyst interrupted by violently summoning her whip and slicing the drill clean off, "See, look at that! You can do everything a normal quartz can do. Let's head back, and shove this thing in Pearl's face!"
"Amethyst? Are you ok?" Steven asked
"Don't worry about it," Amethyst said
"I'm kind of worrying about it..." Y/n told

"Oh, it's lovely! To think we'd be using the same technology that started all this to fix it! This drill is pure irony!" Pearl laughed
"Actually, it's mostly carbonite," Peridot informed
"Y/n, how is the tungsten coming along?" Pearl asked
"I found a supplier, but it's kind of costly," Y/n said
"Don't tell Greg," Pearl whispered as she quickly handed Y/n a debit card with Greg's name on it
"See no evil, speak no evil," Y/n said as they dialed the supplier and walked away
"Oh oh oh oh, Amethyst! Check out this... hmm..." Peridot laughed as she grabbed a hammer, "rhythmatic pulverizer! That's funny, I'm so funny!" Peridot laughed hysterically as she rolled on the ground
"Whatever, dude," Amethyst sighed as she walked away towards Y/n
"That was the incorrect response. Hey, Amethyst isn't laughing when I do these things," Peridot frowned, "Why isn't she laughing?!"
"Peridot, you really hurt her feelings," Steven told
"What?" Peridot turned to Steven
"You were pretty mean to her at the Kindergarten," Steven told
"Mean? No way! I was being... "cool". Amethyst loved it. She's probably telling the Y/n how much fun she had now," Peridot said, noticing Amethyst looking at her, "Amethyst, hi, hi, hi, Amethyst!" Peridot waved, but Amethyst put her arm around Y/n's shoulders, startling Y/n a bit, who was still on the phone, as the two walked into the barn, "She... she won't even look at me. It's making me feel... smaller,"
"You feel bad! That's how you made her feel," Steven told
"Who cares about how she feels? Who cares about any of you!" Peridot snorted as she began stomping around, "You're all just rocks! Ruddy, muddy, clumps beneath my gravity connectors!" Peridot grunted as the leash tugged at her body, causing her to fall over
"Ugh, another one of her temper tantrums. I'm surprised you three made it back from the Kindergarten without driving each other crazy!" Pearl commented to Amethyst and Y/n
"Yeah..." Y/n sighed, glancing at Amethyst

"What's going on?!" Y/n yelled as they heard a loud whirring noise coming from in front of the barn
"It's okay, everything's okay!" Steven said as he stumbled around, clearly dizzy, "It was just a drill!"
"Oh, Steven," Y/n laughed a bit in pity
"Uh... Peridot?" Amethyst said, Y/n turned to their side to see Peridot on top of Amethyst
"Ah!" Peridot yelped as she jumped off, "It was an accident, I swear!"
"Hey, don't worry about it," Steven said as he walked over, "We know you didn't mean to start the drill,"
"Uh... yeah. That was an accident, too..." Peridot told
"Everyone alright?" Y/n asked as they approached
"We good," Amethyst gave a thumbs up
"Alright... I guess we should start clean up here..." Y/n sighed

"Hey, are you alright? That was a close one. It's a good thing Peridot was there to save you," Steven asked Amethyst as the he, Peridot, Y/n, and Amethyst were cleaning up. Well, Y/n was supposed to be helping, but they took a break about ten minutes and hadn't returned
"Yes, it is a good thing," Peridot said, then paused, "Listen, I... uhm..."
"Just spit it out," Amethyst rolled her eyes
"Uggh!" Peridot groaned, "Why are you earthlings so difficult!?" Peridot took her tape recorder and played a message she previously recorded, "Log date 7112. This entire planet is backwards. There hasn't been one instance of correct behavior exhibited by any one of these "Crystal Gems". I have concluded that they are all defective. But I am no better. I failed my mission and now I'm working with the enemy. And I can't even get that right. I have apparently "hurt" Amethyst's "feelings", which was not my intent. If I've damaged my standing with the best Gem here, then I've made a serious mistake. I'm still learning. I hope you understand. I want to understand. I'm sorry. Peridot. Facet 5. End log,"
"Oh, Peridot," Steven teared up
"Peridot..." Amethyst looked to the green gem, "Thanks," Peridot gave an awkward smile back, "But you're still a nerd,"
"I'll be sure to add that to my notes..." Peridot said
"How do you feel?" Steven asked
"...Big," Peridot responded, "Oh, I should tell the Y/n! They would be so proud!"
"Heh, I bet they would," Steven laughed
"What's so funny?" Peridot questioned
"You're just... you talk about Y/n a lot," Steven said
"They are a valuable asset to our mission," Peridot said matter-o-factly, "They have a dynamic range of uses, there is much to discuss with them,"
"Well, why don't you go find them and tell them what you did?" Steven suggested
"That's what I was planning on doing," Peridot informed as she stepped into the barn, "Er... Steven? The Y/n is broken again,"
"Broken?" Steven frowned as he walked into the barn to see Y/n asleep sitting up on the wall of the barn, "Peridot, they're sleeping, not broken. We've been over this,"
"Oh, that's where Y/n went," Amethyst commented as she walked in behind the two, "Uh oh..."
"What's uh oh?" Steven asked
"The necklace thing... it's still on and they're asleep," Amethyst pointed out
"Should we remove the neck decoration?" Peridot suggested
"I'm not sure if that's safe..." Steven said
"Yeah... Who knows how that thing works," Amethyst said
"I wonder where they are right now," Steven said, "...and when they are,"

"Whoa... I don't think I'm on Earth anymore," Y/n said out loud as they looked out the large glass window of a pink, circular hallway. Y/n couldn't make out any distinguishable space-marks that would hint where they were. Y/n took a step back from the window and looked down at their necklace, about to remove, but decided to explore the new area. Y/n continued walking down the hallway, their footsteps echoing throughout as they reached a door that had no knob. Y/n noticed a panel nearby and put their hands near it, causing it to light up. Y/n played around with the options on the holographic menu until the door opened. Y/n continued down the hall, suddenly noticing another set of footsteps ringing through the hallway. Shaking off the sound, Y/n pushed forwards, only for the footsteps to become louder. Soon, Y/n could see a tall blue agate marching down the hallway, Y/n took a deep breath as they continued walking, picking up a bit of speed as the two were about to cross paths, "Hello," Y/n greeted as they kept walking
"Hello," The agate replied, walking by Y/n, but suddenly stopping as she realized what she saw. Before the agate could even turn around and call out to the stranger, they had vanished around the hallway, "No... It couldn't be..." The agate murmured as she began to slowly walk the way she came from.
"Hmm, another door," Y/n said as they saw a new set of doors with a control panel. Y/n went through the process of opening the door again, this time when the doors parted open, it revealed a large room filled with cubies, in those cubies, about a dozen gems sat or stood within them, all chatting until they looked towards the door, staring at Y/n, "You didn't see anything..." Y/n said, waving their hand slowly as if they could control the mind's of the Gems. Y/n looked towards the control panel and closed the door, stepping backwards slowly.
"How did a human get out of the zoo?!" A voice from behind the door asked, "And... did it just talk at us?"
"I dunno, but we gotta get it before Holly Blue finds out!" Another gruff voice responded
"Uh oh," Y/n said as they went to turn, ready to run, but the doors opened before Y/n could make another step, revealing all the gems previously, "Hey there... fellas,"
"What do we do?" A tall skinny gem whispered to one of the light purple gems, she had a gem that looked identical to Amethyst's
"I've got it," A small red gem said as she stepped forward and squatted close to the ground and began to pat the floor, "Come here, human! Come on! Who's a good human?"
"Don't... Don't do that," Y/n frowned
"Whoa, it really does talk," Another gem said, Y/n squinted at the orange and red gem to see what appeared to be a jasper on her left thigh
"Uh, hope you don't mind me asking... but where are we?" Y/n asked
"What do I say?" The jasper responded
"I dunno... Ask how it got out of the zoo," A light pink gem said
"How'd you get out of the zoo?" a lavender gem asked
"Zoo?" Y/n frowned
"The area you live in," A dark lavender gem responded, her gem where here left eye should be
"I... I don't live in a zoo," Y/n said, "I'm from Earth,"
"Heh, are you now?" The skinny jasper laughed a bit
"I mean... They aren't wearing the same clothing as the other humans..." A light orange jasper pointed out
"And we just did a count, all the humans are accounted for," The one with the gem eye told
"If you're from Earth, how'd you get here?" The small red gem asked
"I... I don't really know," Y/n said, looking down at their necklace, "But I should probably get ba-"
"Aha! I knew it!" A familiar voice called, "You idiotic Quartz let a human out of the containment area!"
"Gotta blast!" Y/n said as they ran down the hallway, the Quartz gems watching as Y/n made their escape
"Don't just stand there! After it!" Holly Blue Agate demanded as she summoned her whip, electricity flowing through it
"Why. Won't. This. Stupid. Thing. Come. Off!" Y/n grunted as they struggled to remove the necklace from their neck
"W-w-wait, Holly Blue! It's just a human, you don't need to beat it!" The small red gem called out
"Humans have to learn what happens when it goes in restricted areas," Holly Blue Agate said as she cracked her whip
"Ugh, why are there so many doors?!" Y/n groaned as they put their hand on the panel, trying to mess with the controls
"Stop right there, human," Holly Blue Agate demanded
"Hey there... Just take it easy," Y/n said, holding onto the pendant
"What is this human's identification number? And where are their instructional ear accessories?" Holly Blue Agate questioned
"We- We don't think it ever had any of those," The skinny Jasper told, "It says it's from Earth,"
"Great, a defective human," Holly Blue Agate groaned, "Subdue it and throw it out the airlock, we can not deal with defective humans running amok,"
"Whoa, whoa, wait a moment here," Y/n said
"Hmm? It almost sounded like the human could speak," Holly Blue Agate said, "Those humans and their silly noises," Holly Blue Agate gave a small laughed as she cracked her whip at Y/n. Y/n quickly stepped out of the way, still getting a little shock from the sparks that flew off her whip
"Ow," Y/n groaned as they shook the pain off their hand
"Hmm? A quick one, I see," Holly Blue Agate said, "No matter," Holly Blue Agate once again swiped her whip at Y/n. Quickly reacting, Y/n brought their left hand up and caught the end of the whip, the electricity hitting their thick skin, hurting, but not enough to cause a reaction.
"Could you cool it for a moment?" Y/n said, gripping the whip tight. Holly Blue Agate glared at Y/n, suddenly increasing the voltage of the whip, causing Y/n to yell out in pain as they immediately dropped the whip, "Jeez, what happened to cool it?!" Y/n held their hand in pain, a pinkish-red burn mark left on their hand, steaming.
"Wait, Holly Blue. We can just throw it back in the zoo! No need to... y'know, kill it," The light purple gem said
"Are you questioning my orders?!" Holly Blue Agate spat, turning to face the gem
"Get me out of here," Y/n groaned as they grabbed the pendant and forcefully ripped it off their neck

Y/n shot up from the wall, only to collide heads with Peridot, who was sitting on Y/n's lap, intently listening to Y/n breathing from their nose, "Agh!" Y/n groaned as they brought their left hand to their to their head, but grunted in pain again when a sharp pain split across their hand. Y/n brought their hand back to see a fresh burn mark
"What happened to your touch stump connector?" Peridot frowned as she grabbed Y/n's wrist and peered at it closely, "Are human touch stump connectors supposed to do that?"
"No," Y/n said, "It's a burn wound,"
"Burn? You have been unconscious and near no fire, how could your touch stump connector burn?" Peridot questioned
"Peri, get off, I gotta run this under cold water," Y/n said, fighting back the urge to cry in pain
"Is that how a human treats burn wounds?" Peridot questioned as she stepped off Y/n
"Yeah, I think so," Y/n groaned as they sat up and began speed walking towards a ground fountain near by, Peridot quickly jumped up and continued following Y/n.
"Oh, Y/n. You're awake, I've been meaning to ask you about-" Pearl began as she approached Y/n and Peridot
"We have no time for your questions! The Y/n is injured!" Peridot said
"Injured?" Pearl frowned
"What happens in the past effects me in the present," Y/n said as they began pumping the fountain, trying to get water from the well below
"Did you cut yourself?" Pearl asked
"I got electro-whipped," Y/n told as a stream of water came out from the fountain. Y/n quickly put their palm under the stream, sighing in relief
"Electro.... Whipped?" Pearl questioned, "You were electrocuted?"
"Yeah, and it hurt like all hell," Y/n groaned, "Why is it every time I meet an agate; they try and kill me?"
"Okay... So your skin must be burned, correct?" Pearl asked
"Yep," Y/n sighed, pumping the fountain again
"I know how to deal with human burns..." Pearl said, very unsure of herself, "First you... You remove... the skin,"
"Call Greg," Y/n told
"No, I can do this!" Pearl assured, "Err... A container! Let's get a container to hold the water! Steven! Amethyst! Garnet! Does anyone have a bucket?"
"I can retrieve one!" Peridot said as she ran into the barn and returned with a small tin can, "Here!"
"No, something bigger than that!" Pearl told
"Bigger?" Peridot frowned
"What's with the yelling?" Amethyst asked as she walked over
"The Y/n has scorched their upper epidermal layer!" Peridot said
"Uh, in English?" Amethyst frowned
"I got my hand burned," Y/n said
"By what? Weren't you asleep in the barn?" Amethyst questioned, "Wait, you had your necklace one... What happened?"
"I was in this weird space station thing..." Y/n told, "And there were a bunch of other Gems there. There were jaspers and I think amethysts too... I think her name was Holly Blue... She called them all quartz,"
"Ah, you were in Pink Diamond's Zoo!" Peridot informed
"Oh my..." Pearl covered her mouth
"They did say something about throwing me into a zoo..." Y/n recalled
"Did someone call for a bucket?!" Steven cheered as he ran up to the group, holding a large green bucket over his head, a large smile on his face
"Ah, just perfect," Pearl complimented as she took the bucket and placed it underneath Y/n's hand, "Here, let me see your hand," Y/n nodded and removed their hand from the stream and show it to Pearl. The stream continued pouring into the bucket
"Yeesh, that's a nasty burn," Steven winced, "When I burned my hand, dad gave me some ointment stuff and some gauze,"
"Oh, Steven! You can heal Y/n, can't you?" Pearl suggested
"Err... I can try," Steven said as he licked his hand
"Egh," Y/n groaned as Steven put his hand down on Y/n's
"Did it work?" Steven asked, slowly removing his hand
"...I don't think so," Y/n winced, looking at the burn on their hand "Thanks for trying, buddy,"
"I'm sure your healing abilitiy will come back soon, Steven," Pearl assured, "Don't let this discourage you,"
"Alright," Steven sighed, "Can I do anything?"
"How about get some of that ointment stuff you were talkin' about," Amethyst suggested as Y/n dipped their hand into the bucket
"Okay! Can do!" Steven nodded as he ran off

"What do you think you're doing?" Peridot questioned as Y/n swung a leg over their scooter
"Going home?" Y/n frowned
"Using a vehicle that requires two touch stump connectors to operate? I don't think so," Peridot laughed lightly to herself
"Peri, I'm fine," Y/n assured, "It's just a little burn,"
"Do I have to retrieve the perma-fusion to instruct you to stay here?" Peridot threatened
"I've gotta go home, Peridot," Y/n told, "I've gotta shower, change, get clothes for tomorrow ready, and then head to school,"
"GARNET!" Peridot shouted loudly
"Peridot, you don't have to yell," Garnet told as she approached the two
"Explain to the Y/n why it is not in their best interest to leave this area," Peridot said
"... You are injured, Y/n," Garnet reminded
"It's just a small burn, it's not stopping me from doing anything," Y/n told, showing their hand wrapped in gauze
"It needs at least a day to air out," Garnet said, "I'll go and get your clothes for tomorrow, you'll sleep here tonight,"
"I also need my school bag," Y/n said
"I'll get that too," Garnet told, "I'll tell the fry human where you are,"
"Fine," Y/n sighed
"Nyehehe," Peridot laughed to herself in victory
"You're a real pest, y'know that?" Y/n chuckled, unable to bring themself to be mad at the small green gem
"Eh, no. I am a Gem," Peridot corrected, "You know this,"
"I do," Y/n sighed and yawned
"Oh, Y/n. You're still here," Steven commented
"I've been told I'm staying her for the night," Y/n said, "On account of my... time injury,"
"Ooooh, right," Steven nodded, "How's it feeling, by the way?"
"Fine," Y/n said, moving their fingers around
"Ooh, we should probably get you a place to sleep," Steven said as he ran to the barn, "Hold on just a minute!"
"Hold onto what?" Peridot frowned
"It's an expression," Y/n told
"Eugh, you earthlings and your weird dialect," Peridot groaned
"Done!" Steven called, "Come and check it out!"
"You move quick," Y/n chuckled as they walked inside, Peridot trailing behind them
"Here! I made you a nice hay bed!" Steven showed, "I got a blanket and laid it over the hay, then put another blanket over that so you could have a comforter! And I gave you my second pillow,"
"Aw, thanks Steven," Y/n smile and ruffled Steven's hair
"Heh, no problem!" Steven smiled back, "I'm gonna head to bed too,"
"Alright, well, night Steven," Y/n said
"Night, Y/n!" Steven said as he went to the pick up truck and climbed into his sleeping bag. Y/n went to the makeshift bed and laid down over the blanket, Y/n first pulled the necklace off their neck, then pulled the second blanket over their body. Y/n looked around and saw Peridot standing right next to them, "Uhh... What's up?" Y/n asked, looking up to Peridot
"I am waiting for you to enter your resting phase," Peridot said
"...Why?" Y/n questioned
"I need to conduct more research," Peridot said, "And it requires you to be in said phase,"
"Well... Come back in an hour and I'll be asleep," Y/n told
"It only takes the Steven seventeen minutes to enter resting phase," Peridot told
"...How do you know that?" Y/n asked
"I watched him and counted until he stopped moving," Peridot informed
"Well, don't do that with me, or I won't fall asleep," Y/n said
"Ugh, you are so difficult," Peridot groaned as she stomped away from Y/n
"I know," Y/n sighed as they tugged the blanket over their body. Y/n closed their eyes and let their mind wander away. Slowly drifting off to sleep, but before the wave of unconsciousness could over take them, a familiar set of light footsteps approached Y/n again.
"Nyehehe, it's only been six minutes and the Y/n is asleep," Peridot spoke into her recorder, "Now, I shall attempt to listen to the liquid pump inside the human body, as told to me by the very informative Y/n," Peridot stop the recording and got down onto the ground, slowly crawling to Y/n's chest and placing the side of her head right to Y/n's chest, her pointy hair poking Y/n in the face, "I have located the pump... It seems to be pumping relatively quickly... it sounds like... thump thump, thump thump," Peridot tried recreating the sound, placing the recorder near Y/n's chest to see if she could record the sound of their heart, "The sound seems to be constant, but perhaps it changes speed dependent on different stimuli,"
"Peridot..." Y/n groaned, "If you wanted to hear my heart you could've just asked,"
"Y/n!" Peridot jumped up, "You're not in... May I listen to your... Heart, did you call it?" Peridot asked
"Yes, you can listen to my heart," Y/n said, rolling over so Peridot had a clear view of their chest.
"Hmm..." Peridot rested her head on Y/n's chest as she listened intently to the beating of Y/n's heart, "What is the rate of pumping?"
"I dunno, probably like sixty five beats a minute when I'm resting," Y/n told
"During resting phase, the liquid pump... or heart has humans call it, disperses liquid at a rate of sixty-five pumps every minute," Peridot spoke into her recorder, still leaning on Y/n's chest, "Humans also seem to produce a considerable amount of heat... It is comforting,"
"Try to keep your observations quiet, I need to sleep," Y/n yawned as they closed their eyes, remaining in the position so Peridot could continue what she was doing
"How much longer may I conduct my research?" Peridot asked
"If you're not waking me up, as long as you need," Y/n told
"Hmm," Peridot took her recorder and began to whisper into it, "This experiment may take several hours... Next experiment is to enter human resting phase to experience what it is like, I shall mimic the Y/n to ensure accurate results," Peridot looked up at Y/n, their eyes closed and slowly breathing. Peridot rested herself directly next to Y/n and positioned herself in the same way Y/n was, closing her eyes. Peridot groaned as she couldn't not empty her mind and allow herself to rest, she grabbed Y/n's arm and brought herself close to Y/n, hypothesizing that perhaps the human's warmth would calm her into a resting phase.

"But Pearl told me to wake Y/n up," Steven whispered to Amethyst, the two of them looking as Peridot rested on Y/n's stomach, curled up like an oversized cat, both of them fast asleep.
"Just give it a few minutes," Amethyst chuckled, "Take pictures! It'll be great blackmail,"
"Against Peridot or Y/n?" Steven frowned
"Mostly Peridot," Amethyst answered, "...I don't think Y/n will care,"
"Probably not," Steven agreed
"If Y/n wants to get to school on time, they need to-" Garnet began speaking as she walked into the barn, looking at the scene before her, "...They can be a few minutes late,"
