Lauren's POV
I managed to get through my first week of school and now it's Friday evening and I have absolutely nothing to do. I adjust my position on the stool and finish up the remainder of my homework. I grab a caprisun and go get comfortable in my room.
I sit at the keyboard in the corner by the window and play little keys on it. Since this isn't as loud as a regular piano, my parents replaced my piano with this so others in the building don't have noise complaints.
A familiar song pops into my head and I allow my fingers to naturally play that song.
I slightly sway side to side and lowly hum the lyrics, I'm interrupted by my phone singing.

Me: I-where are we even going? What if I wasn't even here?
The creator 🏃🏾📓: Lol then I woulda just asked you where you were? Come onnnn I wanna hang with my new Cuban friend!
Me: Five minuets
I put my sneakers on and check if I like my appearance, I part my hair and brush through it real quick. I walk out the room and towards the door. "Ma, can I get thirty dollars!"
She emerges from the kitchen and squints her eyes at me and opens her wallet. "Wanna tell me where you're going?"
"Oh, Tyler's outside. We'er just gonna hang out," I shrug.
"Your homework's done?"
I nod my head and she gives me the money, "Get a job application while you're out."
"Okay," I laugh and open the door, I go down to the lobby and see his car in front. I walk up to the car and he rolls the window down.
"Get in loser, we're going to live like reckless teens."
I get in and he hugs me tightly, I giggle and hug him back just as tight. I've gotten used to his carefree, goofy, and extra ways and often find myself being the same way around him.
"So, what are we doing?" I ask.
"We...are going to Brooklyn sis!" He smiles.
"You smoke, right?" He asks, a few minutes into the ride. I nod my head and he reaches into his pocket, he pulls out a joint and a lighter. "Light up."

I reach into the 'Checkers' bag and pull out the wrapped burger, bitches had major munchies. I bite into it and contently sigh at the taste and contrast of everything. I nod my head to the music playing and take another hit of the joint, I blow the smoke out the window and laugh at it vanishing into the setting sun.
"My mom wants me to get a job, what's a good place?" I ask.
"Aight, you know the brown skin girl in a couple of our classes? With the curly hair?" He asks while glancing at me.
"I think."
"She works at the H&M a few blocks over," He switches lanes and puts the joint out.
We pull up and I try to fix my appearance and look less high as we walk in. I follow him around the main level and he moves towards the stairs. "She's probably downstairs tonight." We go down and he looks around. "Yup, she's down here."
We get on the line to the registers, which is moving at a good pace thanks to the multiple registers.
"Next!"
We walk up to one of the registers and the girl smiles. "Wassup T?"
"You know about the new girl in our classes, right?" She nods her head and he places his hand on my shoulder. "This is her, Lauren."
She moves her eyes to mine and my throat runs dry, she's so beautifully breathtaking, especially her eyes. I'm pretty sure I look weird as fuck but I don't care, I give her a smile and a small wave.
"Hi Lauren, I'm Normani." She gestures to her name tag, "What can I help you with?"
"Hi, umm. I-uh, can I have an application?" Gosh, I sound like a broken record.
She nods and goes to get it, she comes back a few seconds later with four sheets and hands them to me. "Here you go, I'll put in a good word for you. We need more beautiful girls around here."
I blush and take the papers from her. "Thank you."
"Later Mani," Tyler says while fist bumping her.
"See y'all at school," She says, her eyes still on me. I wave at her and she waves back, a small smirk on her face.
We start walking away but she calls us back. "By the way, you guys made the block too hot. You reek of weed," She laughs.
"Ayo, tomorrow b," Tyler says while moving his fingers to his lips.
She laughs and nods her head, we get back to his car and he scrolls through his phone. "You know a lot of 90's rap?"
"I know a lot."
"Aight, bet."
I start bopping in my seat and roll the window down, rapping along to every single word and ad lib except for the n word of course.
Tyler taps my shoulder and presses on the breaks to the beat, making the car jerk. "Niggas can kill me but they comin' wit' me. How about that? Send the Queen Bee to attack, only a fly bitch like that can leave em relaxed. Rock 'em to sleep, make 'em think the drama is dead. Yo, I smile up in your face though I'm plottin' instead."
