(Y/N) walked into her classroom, and was greeted by the teacher. A heavier woman who also had a small smile adorning her tanned, rosy face. She had an accent that wasn't completely clear, and (Y/N) wondered as to where her new teacher hailed from.

(Y/N) gave a small wave to the teacher and immediately searched for a head of black hair. (Y/N) narrowed her (e/c) eyes, and she walked over to Keshi as soon as she spotted him in the back, his favorite spot to be. Keshi was reading the same book as earlier, but he didn't appear as interested in it as he had before.

"Hey, Keshi!"

The teen looked up with the same tired look as he had in the morning, but he did, however, show a genuine smile on his face.

"Hey."

(Y/N) set her things down on the desk next to Keshi's and plopped herself in the seat with a huff. She slouched into her chair and looked over at her friend.

"Isn't it lucky that we have our first and last classes together? It kind of makes the school day feel a lot shorter." (Y/N) commented as she rose her arms in the air and stretched.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Keshi replied with a shrug, and he put his book away.

The pair just sat there for a few minutes, making small conversation. A couple more students filed in, but most of them were already seated or just standing and talking to friends. The class was relatively small in size, so (Y/N) and Keshi were the only people at their table of four so far.

(Y/N) began to examine everything that was placed in the classroom. There were a projector and a desk, of course, but there were also other miscellaneous items littering the room. The walls seemed to be covered by dozens of different types of maps; some of the entire world, some of the separate continents, and some just of random countries. There were also pictures of famous sites, like Machu Picchu or the Egyptian pyramids and Sphinx. Several globes could be seen, varying in size. Behind the desk, (Y/N) could see what looked like pictures of a black lab, with a few family photos here and there. The girl had no idea how the teacher was even allowed to have that much stuff placed in her room at once.

The bell rang, and the door was shut as the teacher came strutting to the front of the classroom. This teacher seemed to be extremely excited to teach the class, and she looked around at the students with a gleam in her eyes.

"Hello, class!" She practically bellowed out, "I am your geology teacher, and my name is Mrs. Romano. I can just say that this is my favorite subject, and I am just so excited to teach you all this year!"

After the teacher introduced herself, nothing was really said, and there was just a silence that shadowed the room.

Mrs. Romano continued on, "Okay, we're going to take the role for today, and then we can get started."

Mrs. Romano walked over to her computer and called out everyone's name. Everyone was present except for one Ryu Ishida, who (Y/N) had never heard of before.

After the teacher took the role, she stood up in front of the class again and began to introduce herself, "Well, in case you didn't know, I am Italian. I grew up there for most of my life until I moved here to go to college. I have a husband and three beautiful children, and my precious dog, Milo. He's my best friend, and I love to cuddle with him. You can see some of the adorable pictures of him." She spoke so fondly her dog that one might wonder if the dog carried greater importance over Mrs. Romano's own family. Quirky.

She continued talking about her personal life when suddenly the door burst open, and a teenage boy came strutting into the classroom without any clear note or explanation. He was a good ten minutes late to class, and Mrs. Romano wore a clear look of annoyance on her face.

(Y/N) assumed he was the one kid that was unaccounted for.

When she asked why he had been so late, he just uttered something about, 'being new to the school.'

After he said that, (Y/N) quickly analyzed him, and she recognized him as the scarlet-red haired kid she had seen at lunch. (Y/N) scanned over his features. His scarlet hair was styled in a way that almost implied he messed it up on purpose, and his uniform looked as though he had put it on halfway. His blazer was left completely unbuttoned, and he didn't wear a tie nor the normal white dress shirt. It looked like he just barely passed the school dress code.

Mrs. Romano petulantly muttered for him to take a seat, saying that he could sit anywhere he liked. Almost naturally, the red-head strode to the back of the room, and once seeing that there were no other vacant tables, and took a seat next to (Y/N). She unconsciously stiffened at his presence.

Once again, Mrs. Romano began talking, this time about the subjects they'd be learning about.

(Y/N), though it may have appeared a bit nerdy, gave a small smile. She had never taken a course like this before, and she was excited to hear about what she would be learning that year. Obviously, geography would connect to some other things like science and history, but she yearned to learn more about the specific subject.

Unsurprisingly, Keshi was jotting down notes. The boy next to (Y/N), whom she vaguely remembered to be named Ryu, had his earbuds in and looked as though he was about to fall asleep. His folded arms held his head, and when Mrs. Romano would look in his direction, he would shift his arms ever so slightly as to hide his earbuds.

When Mrs. Romano finished talking, she asked two of the nearby students to pass out some papers. One was for a weekly homework assignment due at the end of the week, and the other was for the parents to sign just so that they'd know what would be going on in the class. (Y/N) gave a slight grimace as she had to find some way to sign the forms without her parents.

Mrs. Romano appeared to have finished talking, and (Y/N) wondered what they could possibly be doing next.

Keshi was wide awake and fully attentive, whereas Ryu, apparently too cool for school, looked half asleep.

"Okay, we are going to have discussions about our favorite places to visit and why as our little warmup today. You can just talk to the people at your table." Mrs. Romano finally finished, and the classroom, even though relatively small in size, burst into conversation.

(Y/N) decided she would have to instigate the discussion, but not before having the entire table's complete attention. (Y/N) poked Ryu to make sure he was still awake, and she was met with narrowed ruby eyes that seemed to scream for her to go away.

"We have to have a discussion about our favorite places to visit." (Y/N) explained to the boy with a small, almost unnoticeable quiver in her voice.

Ryu gave a groan, and Keshi just seemed to be going with the flow. (Y/N) was about to begin talking, when she was abruptly cut off by the brash redhead.

"My favorite place to visit would be Brazil," Ryu replied nonchalantly.

"Why?" (Y/N) asked, trying to stay on topic, and maybe get to know this seemingly rude boy a bit better.

"I hear it's a great place," Ryu answered with a shrug, but when (Y/N) and Ryu met eyes, she could see the playfulness glossing over his red orbs.

Keshi decided he would also contribute to the conversation. "I think that Sweden would be an interesting place to visit." Keshi ended with little enthusiasm in his voice, but (Y/N) knew that he was secretly excited on the inside based on the gleam in his blue orbs.

Ryu rolled his eyes. (Y/N) looked at the ceiling in thought and then just started talking, "You know, I don't really know. Anywhere would be great."

Ryu scoffed, giving another roll of his eyes.

(Y/N) just gave him a slightly annoyed side-eye, whereas Keshi glared daggers at the boy diagonal to him. Ryu seemed to show a shadow of a smirk, and amusement seemed to once again taunt his eyes.

Following the warm-up, Mrs. Romano continued talking.

After a while (Y/N) looked over at a clock on the wall, and was relieved to see that only a few minutes remained. Even though the day seemed long, the particular classes seemed to shortened drastically. She hoped the teacher would wrap up soon and just let them leave.

As soon as the thought entered her mind, Mrs. Romano stood up, and loudly asked for people to volunteer and share their favorite place they would like to visit and why. While her peers gave their answers, (Y/N) kept focused on the clock, watching every second tick by. When it was down to one minute, she began silently packing her things up, not wanting to waste any time getting home.

Just as a student was mid-sentence in his explanation, the bell chimed to signal the end of the day. (Y/N) waited a few seconds to be officially dismissed by her teacher, and she looked over at Keshi to make sure he was packed up as well, and she wouldn't need to wait for him.

Mrs. Romano let the students go, and (Y/N) and Keshi speedily walked out of the room.

As (Y/N) and Keshi slowed their pace a bit, (Y/N) gave a small smile.

"Well, that was an eventful day. Did you know I apparently have one class with every single one of the new boys, and that they all sit near me? That's just plain unbelievable." The (h/c) haired girl said with a shake of her head.

"Interesting." Keshi didn't seem very ecstatic, and his eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

"I wonder how Ayako and Itsumi will react. They'll probably try to switch classes with me or something like that." (Y/N) chuckled, "Ugh, but that Ryu guy was just so annoying."

Keshi's expression lightened ever so much, and he gave a small nod in agreement.

Once the two friends were out the front gates, they reached a stop sign and parted ways.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Keshi!" (Y/N) bore her farewell with a small wave and a smile to match.

"Bye."

(Y/N) walked on her own now, completely unaware of what would happen, who would get hurt, and how those boys would change her life forever. She was left with her thoughts, thinking over everything that had happened. It just might have been the most important day of her life.
