I got it. I knew who the young man was now. I figured it out while I was having a dream.
In my dream, I was at a Minnesota Huskies game. I was sitting in a court side seat. The Huskies were playing the Miami Flames, my least favorite team in the entire NBL.
Blair Castro, Minnesota's star point guard, was dribbling the ball up the court, ready to call a play. When Blair reached the top of the three-point line, suddenly, a player elbowed Blair in the nose. It was Troy Swenson, point guard for the Miami Flames.
Troy was one of the best point guards in the NBL, but also one of the dirtiest. Troy was very good looking, so good looking that many people couldn't look past his gorgeous features to see his terrible personality. Troy had ocean-blue eyes and perfect blonde hair that swooped just right. Troy was very muscular and had a great smile. Half the women in the country were in love with Troy despite his terrible personality.
Troy and Blair had been rivals ever since Blair came into the NBL and amazed everyone with his superior court vision, stupendous alley-oops, and charming good looks and Spanish accent.
I now knew why the young man that had kidnapped me looked so familiar. Troy Swenson was one of my kidnappers.
As soon as I realized this, I woke up from my dream. I was so startled that I sat up too quickly and hit my head on the top bunk.
"Ouch!" I whispered so I wouldn't wake Adam up.
I had been kidnapped by the dirtiest basketball player in the NBL. I had been kidnapped by Blair Castro's rival. I had been kidnapped by a man that many people like. I had been kidnapped by someone very famous. This piece of information had just changed the entire game.
Wait a minute, I thought to myself. If I've been kidnapped by Troy Swenson, then that mean's he won't be here for very long since he has to go back to Miami for the NBL season. After that, Adam and I only have to get past the old man.
Since the young man that kidnapped us was Troy Swenson, that means that Jacque Nelson isn't really the old man's name. He was trying to trick us the whole time.
Oh, what was Troy Swenson's dad's name? I know this, I thought to myself. I've got it! His name is really Jeff, Jeff Swenson!
I knew what I had to do. First thing in the morning, I would have to tell Adam who our kidnappers really were. Then I had to try to come up with a plan of escape. If Adam and I could tough out being captured a few more months, that would make our escape so much easier.
Bring it on, Jeff and Troy. Bring it on, I thought as I smiled to myself.
