The Girl Next Door
Chapter 6
"See you after school Graceey for an hour of fun" Sam said sarcastically
I watched as he walked away from me without a glance back and for some stupid reason it felt like my heart was breaking. All I wanted was to go home but no such luck. I made my way to English and took a seat at my usual table with Serena, Blair, Nate, Andy and Blake. They were all talking amongst each other and I just sat there staring at nothing in particular. Silence filled the room Miss Newton called the class's attention. She was a nice teacher who genuinely cared about her students. She had taught me a lot already since the start of junior year and she was by far my favourite teacher. Today's assignment was to write a poem about the emotion of love. I sat staring out of the window trying to think of ideas. I could hear everyone else's pen scribbling away on the paper as I waited for the inspiration to come and then as if the idea had been whispered in my ear I begin writing.
Love is not what it seems,
It's sometimes wrong and misconceived.
It is said to fill the heart with joy,
Yet all I can think of is the pain caused by that boy.
I feel like sometimes I'm wasting my time,
Because I know he will never be mine.
But if love is truly as great as they say,
Then I shall wait till that day.
They day he looks up and sees,
That I have loved him for all these years.
I was so engaged in my writing that the rest of the lesson flew by and before I knew it the bell had gone and everyone was packing up their stuff.
"Grace you seemed to be having fun there do you mind if I read your poem?" Miss Newton asked
I blushed bright red, "I...err...its not very good!" I stuttered
"Of course it is Grace you should have more confidence in yourself!" she said to me
"Everyone I want you to go home and write a new poem using the emotion of hate!" She concluded addressing the class.
She still held my poem in her hand as she walked up to her desk and sat down.
"Grace you coming?" Blair asked
Breaking my stare from Miss Newton I looked at Blair and saw she was staring patiently at me.
"Err yeah you guys just go down I'm just going to talk to miss for a minute!"
"Ok see you in the cafeteria don't take too long!" she said smiling walking away with the guys.
I breathed a sigh of relief as she left with the guys I didn't want them to read my poem. As I packed my bag and walked to Miss Newton's desk I couldn't help but nervously bite my lip.
"Grace this is-" She begin but I interrupted
"-Bad I know I'm sorry miss I will try harder next ti-
"-No Grace it's not. In fact it's really good, very emotive!"
"Do you really think so Miss?"
"Yeah I do! You should be proud of yourself!" She gushed
"Thank miss!"
There was a sudden sound at the door, I turned and couldn't believe he was standing there!!!
