Appearance: Nam is of African-American and Korean heritage, possessing a androgynous build and being of average height, with long wavy black hair, light brown eyes with a median fold and light brown skin, when first introduced Nam's hair was tied in twin buns, while Nam wore a white Wushu uniform. Although he is referred to as male throughout the story, he has both male and female sex organs, due to being born intersex, he has moderately sized breast, which he hides by wearing baggy shirts, sports bras or binders, and male genitalia, he even states that he once had a uterus before having it removed.
Personality: Nam comes across as friendly and well-meaning. His mortal classmates and friends think he's cool because he gets away with eating in class, gets his works done earlier than everyone else, is very comfortable for who he is sexuality wise and gender wise and is said to be the only one in his school that can negotiate with their headstrong principal. Nam is a playful man and prefers fooling around over having any responsibility. By his own admission, his most hated sentences are "hard work" and "work hard", but he does it anyway to get it over with, and had to be whacked with a bamboo stick by his mother in order to go to Wushu practice. He has a fairly goofy side and spends half of his fights enjoying having outsmarted his current enemy with incredibly zany schemes, which take his opponents by surprise by how silly his plans are at first sight. This is also shown when he trained his three pet birds to sing Destiny's Child at 6AM to mess with his mom.
He's shown to be very close to Ye-Jun, giving her the nickname "Gimbap", he was the first person that gained her trust and her permission to have intimate contact with her, he's always the one who calms her down from her crying spells and it's hinted that he has a crush on her, he tries his best to hint to her that he likes her but it never works (Damn this sounds like a Korean romance), at one point Nam was inches away from kissing Ye-Jun, but she pushed him away out of shyness and fear of physical contact, much to the disappointment of everyone at Camp Half-blood. He knows about the blood type personality theory and believes in it, as revealed when he says that his blood type is B and therefore compatible with Ye-Jun who's blood type AB

Abilities: Nam has ADHD and Dyslexia, he can't read Hanja (and to a extant can't learn to read/write in any language with a Chinese-based alphabet) but "it doesn't matter since Koreans barely use it" and he can't sit still for long periods of time. His weapon of choice, the Jian, is referred to as "The Gentleman of Weapons" he uses it in a similar fashion to a Wushu practitioner, in fact before he arrived to camp he studied two Chinese fighting styles, Wushu and Tai chi. He blended these two styles along with his knowledge of pressure points to create his own unique style. Nam is shown to have fluency in Ancient Greek, English, and Korean, singing a Korean lullaby to calm down Ye-Jun, whispering words of encouragement in Korean when she was doubting herself, using Korean phrases to describe his emotions that can't be described in English. He's also shown to be a decent rock singer as he sang "You Give Love a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi at a school pep rally as a inside joke with his ex-girlfriend, currently he's learning to sing heavy metal but he says he sounds like a newborn kitten compared to Marceline.
