Shore ran through the forest, yelling with excitement. His best friend Orange chased after him. They did this practically every day. They would fight and then the loser had to suffer whatever consequence the winner thought of. And for Shore, that meant he got kissed. And he kept losing! Well, he declared. Not this time. This time, he was going to finally beat her. It was pretty embarrassing after all that he kept losing to a girl.
Suddenly someone tackled him to the ground and pinned him. "Ha!" Orange cried triumphantly, as she pressed him into the ground. He struggled against he hold, searching for a weakness he could use, but there wasn't one. He scowled. Once Orange had him pinned, there was no chance of winning. "So, do you surrender, or do I have to keep sitting on you?" Orange questioned, a smile on her face. With a dramatic, long-suffering sigh, he replied. "Alright. I surrender." Shore admitted. He shut his eyes. "Make my torture quick please." She laughed. "It's not torture!" she insisted. "No, you're right, Tulip kissing me would be torture." he explained. They laughed, both thinking momentarily of Tulip, a gross dragonet that always seemed to be around Shore, and not in a good way. "Fine, I'll make it quick." Orange agreed. She leaned over and pecked him on the lips before getting off him. Shore looked at her crazily. "What?" she asked. "What was that?" he questioned. "I have lost enough fights to identify all of your kisses. A quick kiss lasts at least 3 seconds. Normal ones last 8. That wasn't even a second!" Orange grinned slyly. "Are you asking me to kiss you again?" she asked, a smirk on her face. Shore's face went bright pink, although he didn't know why. "No!" he retorted, looking around for a way to change the subject. "Uh, RACE YOU BACK TO THE VILLAGE!" he announced, taking off into the trees. Orange grinned to herself before racing after him.
From her spot sitting precariously in a tree, Ander watched as Shore and Orange touched down on a platform, grabbed some fruit, and flew to a platform not far from her to eat. She grinned slightly as the stars explained what had happened earlier in the day, and what would be happening years from now as a result. "Much jealousy to come, Much much, but then again, no true love is without it." One star whispered. "Agree agree, jealousy. Girl's hearts will break like raindrops fall, always always!" another murmured. Ander smiled. When Moon had read her mind, she thought that all the voices were speaking at once, for that is how they protected Meander from the 'fallen stars that latched on to unfortunate souls'. To Ander, that stars spoke one by one, about every possible topic. But when something happened that Ander spotted, the ones who spoke related to it, spoke first. They never stopped talking, even when she slept, but Ander was used to it. She'd been hearing the stars since before she even hatched, if that was even possible. But it left her confused. Her and Rin were twins, hatched from the same egg. So, how come Ander could listen to the stars, but Rin couldn't. The stars insisted that they were two halves, together they made a whole. Ander would speak the star's words directly, but Rin could translate them into something other dragons could understand. To the world, Rin was labeled normal, but Ander's status was something even the stars seemed to keep hidden from her.
On the platform that Ander unconsciously watched, Shore and Orange ate lunch. "You know, I have made a discovery." Orange announced. She held up the round fruit for which she had been named. "If you're named after a fruit, you immediately hate that fruit." Shore raised an eyebrow. "Think about it!" Orange insisted. "I hate oranges, Coconut hates coconuts. Your sister, Rin. Has she ever liked or eaten mandarins?" Shore frowned. He remembered the one time they'd given Rin a mandarin. Her disgusted face was hilarious. "No, she doesn't like them." he realized. "And Apple doesn't like apples either. Well, not the red ones at least." "See!" Orange announced. "And I bet that Mango hates mangoes too." Shore grinned. "You are seriously missing out on oranges though. They're delicious!" "All of them?" she questioned. "Well, some are bad of course, but most of them, yes." he replied, not seeing what he was walking into.
"Huh," Orange began. "And which one am I, delicious or bad?"
Shore dropped the fruit he was holding. He coughed suddenly, and glanced around. Orange grinned at his awkwardness and handed him an orange. "Just a simple question." she insisted. "ORANGES!" Shore yelled suddenly, finding his excuse to change the subject. "I love oranges. Do you know what you can do with these? I'll show you." he rambled. Orange laughed. He has funny when h was nervous and unprepared. Shore sliced off a bit of the fruit, skin and all, and popped it into his mouth. A few seconds later, he smiled, the orange skin covering his teeth. "An orange smile?" she asked. He nodded and spat out the skin. "But the funny thing about you," he insisted. "Is that you are the only dragon that doesn't need to have an orange to have an orange smile." "And why's that?" he questioned. "Because you. Are. ODD-ANG!" he declared, using her nickname as they burst out laughing.
