Chapter 22
Ryder POV
I was pacing back and forth. I was in the pack house and Omar was checking on him. My papa and my brothers were working, I was suppose to work but I can't because of Kayden. I was alone in the corridor. I couldn't wait any longer, I want to know if my mates okay. I can't hold the pain any longer, was this what it felt when I reject him? Was it worse? When I saw Omar walk out the room, I stared at him.
"He's okay" he said and I sighed in relief "but the tree hit his head hard. Hard enough to put him in a coma" he said my heart sank, A coma?! the pain got worse, I couldn't help but drop to my knees.
"I'm sorry Ryder" he said
"No. no it's okay, you did the best you can. Thank you......can I see him?" I asked
"Yes of course." he said and help me up, I walked into the room and saw gadgets and wire all around him. I sat on the edge of the bed and hold his hand, I couldn't help but feel disappointed that he didn't wake up, it hurt even more
"Kayden" I said "I know you can't hear me but I love you, and you will be up soon. I can tell" my eyes started to water "I just want you to know that i'll be okay" my voice crack and I started to cry for the first time in a long time.
"And i'm not crying, something went inside my eyes" I said lying to myself. I stayed there until I stopped crying.
It was an hour since I stop crying, I heard someone walk in and I turn to see Sam.
"Hi" I said
"Hey, are you ready?" he asked
"For?"
"Your announcement, I know you want him to do it but-"
"No it's fine but can I announce my self?" I asked
He chuckled "yeah, come on" I kissed Kayden's forehead and walked out the room and walked to the back yard. They were having a barbecue, like what I wanted. I smiled, Kayden planned this.
"Attention, everybody! I have something important to say" he said everyone looked at Sam and I, I wasn't nervous about being the mother of the pack anymore. I chose this. I'm going to be the best Luna they ever have, I will do this for Kayden.
"I know you're all wondering why am I up here" I said "today our Undefeated Alpha is in A coma, he is still undefeated, but Today was suppose to be the announcement of his Luna, which is me. I will not be like other Luna's. Alpha Kayden and I have discussed that I will be a protector for this pack, This May seem odd but it will make this pack stronger. Also Sam and I are going to run this pack together until our Alpha is awake" I said sternly the crowd of werewolves was silent, then the crowd started to cheer, celebrating. I smiled to see them happy and celebrating, I people came up to me. They bowed their heads and congratulated me.
I found Omar and ran to him. "Omar!" I said
"Luna" he said and bowed his head, I slap his arm and smiled
"I don't want you calling me Luna, you can call me Ryder" I demanded and he nodded
"Congrats" he said and hugged me
"Back at you" I said
"What do you mean?"
"I mean about being the new pack doctor, you start tomorrow" I said he smiled brightly and hugged me again, I chuckled.
"Thank you so much" he said and I told him not to worry about it. I couldn't believe my life was to Change after this day, I love my old life but I want Kayden in my new life. I didn't feel so happy about my announcement day, I would have enjoyed it if My mate was here. I felt a wave of sadness in me, Knowing that he's in a coma hurts me so much. I wanted to be in a coma with him but I can't, not even if I wanted too, I have to be here for the pack. I hung out with Omar and my family for the rest of the time, by the time it was ending of the celebration I wanted to do one last thing.
"Attention everybody!" I shouted and everyone's eyes were on me. "I would like to make a toast" I put my glass of champagne up
"To our new Luna" Sam said as he raise his glass
"And to Kayden" I said and they all said cheers. Everyone left by the time it was midnight, I was mentally and physically exhausted. I told my parents that I would stay in Kayden's house for a while. They agreed but I was really not looking forward to sleep, not if Kayden isn't going to be there when I wake.
