Charlotte walked over to Regulus and his friends and she could see that Selene was one of the people standing close to him. She had on a green dress showing of house pride, the same thing Charlotte was doing. This made Charlotte stand out, no one of them was wearing anything red. So with both her red hair and red dress she didn't go unnoticed.
"Hi, babe." Regulus said and pulled Charlotte in for a small kiss. They could tell that the people around them were looking, but after seeing them together for a little more then a week they were used to it. Everyone but one smiled or smirked at the pair, but the one glaring at the pair didn't go unnoticed.
"Hi." Charlotte said back and smiled up at him before looking over at his friends. When see did that she was met with the death glare from the girl that had threatened her, but she just smirked back.
"You're here. I've been waiting for you." Regulus whispered in her ear and put his arm around her shoulder. Charlotte felt the warmth from his body and she could smell the alcohol on him.
Charlotte spent a lot of time with Regulus arms around her shoulder, talking and drinking some alcohol. She pretended to be a little more drunk than she was, if she should pull this plan of she needed Regulus and the others to believe that.
"How are you feeling?" Regulus asked in her ear later in the evening. His breath felt hot agains her ear and she could smell even more alcohol on him now.
"I'm fine." She said back with a smile. During the night she had seen her friends from across the room, but she hadn't talked to them only waved when she saw them.
"I'm gonna get more to drink, I'll be back in a bit." Regulus said, still really close to her ear and she nodded and smiled at him before he left. She saw him walking through the room and she turned the other way and took a deep breath so she could relax. This whole thing was making Charlotte stressed out, she just wanted it to end.
Charlotte was lost in though when she felt a hand poking her shoulder. She was startled and turned around and saw the familiar girl standing in front of her. When Charlotte saw who it was she couldn't help but to smirk.
"Didn't you listen to what I told you?" Selene almost yelled at her. She had a hard look on her face and her hand on her hips this time. Her hair was curly and her make up was heavy. Charlotte crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the girl in front of her, she really hated being told what to do.
"And like I said earlier, why would I do that?" Charlotte glared back, but on the inside she was smirking. This was just the reaction she was looking for.
"Because I said so, and if you don't I'll make your life a living hell."
"It's none of your business what's going on between me and Regulus. So I recommend that if you have something to say, you should talk to him." Charlotte said or more spat out and pointed over to Regulus who was standing on the other side of the room talking to one of his friends.
Selene didn't say anything, she just glared at Charlotte before leaving her standing alone again. Charlotte saw how Selene crossed the room before she was standing in front of Regulus. She could only guess what she was saying, but she soon saw them leave together. Selene had to have asked him to talk in private, or he was doing exactly what she wanted.
Regulus wasn't surprised when Selene approached him and asked him to talk in private. After he had heard what Charlotte had told him earlier he new it was only a matter of time before she would want to talk to him. He looked over his shoulder to see if anyone saw him leaving with Selene, but no one was looking at them. The most important person he didn't want seeing him leaving with Selene was busy talking to one of his friends.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Regulus asked when they stood together in an empty hallway. They could hear the music from the party and once in a while they could see one or two people stumbling away from the party.
"I want to talk about us." Selene said and put her hand on Regulus chest, just like Charlotte used to do. Regulus wasn't surprised with what she said, he knew she hadn't moved on from their relationship and wanted to be something again.
"What about us?" Selene still had her hand on his chest and running her hand up and down trying to make him fall for her again.
"I want to try us again." Selene said and Regulus let out a sigh, of course this was coming. He knew he was with Charlotte now but it still felt good feeling Selenes hand on him again.
"I'm with Charlotte now." Regulus whispered out, it was harder and harder to fight against his lust towards Selene when she was getting closer and closer to him. He knew it was wrong but they had a lot of history between them and he can't lie and say that his feelings were all gone.
"She doesn't need to know." Selene whispered and now she was so close their lips were almost touching. Regulus could feel her breath against his face and he couldn't help but to want to kiss her right then and there. But he knew he couldn't.
"I can't." It didn't sound convincing, but he was fighting it.
"I know you want to." Selene whispered and Regulus couldn't fight it anymore. He pushed her up against the wall and placed his lips on hers. Their lips were met in a heated kiss and they were lost in each other.
A loud gasp was heard and made the two jump apart from each other. They saw a red haired girl with her jaw dropped and eyes wide opened. Her eyes were filled with tears and her body tense. Regulus eyes went wide when he saw who was standing there, and what she had seen. Seeing the heartbroken look in her eyes didn't help with the guilt that was building up inside him. What had he done?
Selene was a different story, she was smirking at the smaller girl. She had warned her what would happen if she didn't stay away from Regulus and now she had shown her what she could do.
Charlotte couldn't help it when a few tears escaped. Sure she wanted to get out of the whole thing, but it still hurt to be betrayed in that way by someone. The other thing was that it brought back the memories with Sirius and what she had seen that night. So standing there seeing Regulus betraying her hurt.
"It's not what it looks like." Regulus stuttered out, trying to save the moment. Charlotte couldn't help but to let out a humorless laugh. Did he really think she would buy that?
"And what is it? Tell me, what is it if it isn't what it looks like?" Charlotte said with a hard look and Regulus froze. He hadn't thought she would say something like that. So after not saying anything for a few minutes Charlotte just rolled her eyes.
"You know what? I'm done! Don't ever talk to me again." She spat out to both Regulus and Selene before turning to leave them standing alone in the corridor again.
"Char wait." Regulus tried and reached out for her arm but she just pulled it away and glared at him.
"Stay away from me." He stood still not knowing what to do this time and saw Charlotte walking away from him.
Charlotte dried her tears before entering the party. She didn't want anyone to see her cry, and even if this was a part of her plan she still had started to care about Regulus on some level. She pulled a smile on her face looking over the party trying to find her friends in the sea of people and it didn't take her long before she found James and the other boys standing talking in a corner.
Charlotte took a deep breath, she had to look sad, she knew that. Everyone had to believe what they saw and she knew she could pull it off. So she pulled on a sad face and started walking over the room to talk to her friends.
James could feel eyes on him so he turned to see who was looking at him. When he saw Charlotte with a pair of hurt and sad eyes he frowned. What had happened? Was she hurt? Who was it he had to kill? All toughs thoughts were running through his head during the time she was walking over to him.
It didn't take long for Sirius to notice that James wasn't listening anymore and when he saw the frown and even mad look on his face he had to see what James was looking at. He followed James line of sight and soon saw Charlotte walking over to them looking sad and hurt. This made Sirius heart break. Who had done something to hurt her?
"James." Charlotte whispered out when she stood next to them and they all looked at her with sadness and pity in their eyes. A look she was more then used to in her life and a look that she hated.
"Lottie, what happened?" James asked worried and pulled her in for a tight hug. In his mind the worst scenarios was running over and over again.
"Can we leave? Please." Charlotte whispered out so only James could hear her. Sirius didn't know what to do. He wanted to be the one to comfort her and make her feel better, but he new she would never let him do that, not now anyway.
"Sure." James said to her before turning to his friends and he could see that they all looked worried about the small girl in his arms. "I have to get Lottie back to her room, but I'll see you later."
"Do that. We'll see you later." Remus answered for all of them and gave his friends a small smile. Sirius was so lost in his thoughts and busy starring at the girl for answering James or even noticing that he said anything.
The two friends left the party together and James had his arm around Charlotte the whole time. She was still looking sad and hurt and he was wondering what had happened. They walked back to the common room in silence and it was quiet in the empty corridors.
Charlotte took a deep breath after they had walked in to the common room, she didn't have a reason to be sad. She felt like she had to pull herself together. She ran her hands through her hair before turning to James that was sitting in front of her waiting for her to talk.
"I ended things with Regulus. He cheated on me with Selene. I know I should be happy that the plan worked and that the whole thing is over. But in someway it still hurts." Charlotte explained to him with a small smile. James let out a sigh, this was not what he expected. He felt relived that it wasn't something worse, but he still felt bad for Charlotte.
"Come here." Was the only thing James said before he opened his arms for Charlotte to walk in to, and she didn't hesitate in doing so. Charlotte buried her face in his chest and hugged him back around his waist. It felt really good that this whole thing was finally over.
