Elizabeth POV

Summer came to an end and now it's fall. Well it still feels like summer though. I mean it's Florida. Its always summer here.

I was staring out of the window, not paying attention to my professor's lecture. I watched the bright blue sky and the threes dancing around because of the warm wind. There were some people sitting on the green grass while reading it doing something on their laptops while other just sit on the bench and chat with their friends.

I am still not fully used to my life as a college student. It has only been months since I was still in high school. It is a weird feeling of not being surrounded by your friends anymore. I really miss those times we spent school together or more like suffer together.

I don't feel like an adult at all. I'm not even 20 yet. However, there are a bunch of other students who are the same age as me and they look older and more mature than me. Compared to them I still look like a high school student who just lost the way to school and ended up in college.

I was still deep in thoughts when Andrew waved a hand in front of my face.

"Earth to Eliza. Are you death in that brain or what?" he asked me.

"Oh...sorry, I was only thinking about some things. Did I miss something important?" I asked him.

"Not really but the lecture already ended and we are the last people here inclusive our professor." he said.

I looked around the lecture hall and saw that most of the students already left and here I was still sitting.

"Ops..." I said and laughed nervously before I started to pack while Andrew started to talk about a new hottie he spotted today before coming here.

We were about to leave when Mrs. Jennings called out for me.

"Ms. Connor. Could you stay for a moment? I would like to speak to you." she said with a warm smile.

I looked at Andrew who shrugged and left the room. I went up to Mrs. Jennings while she was organising her things.

Mrs. Jennings was a really beautiful woman with a slim body, short dark hair and green eyes. Everyone knows that there are some college students who have an eye on her but she was already married, obviously. She doesn't look like it but she was already in her 30s.

"...did I do something wrong?" I asked her hesitantly.

"What? No, not at all. But it seemed like my lecture was a bit boring for you today." she said and laughed lightly.

"No! I mean no. I was just only about some things. I am really sorry for not paying attention." I apologised.

"Don't worry. I'm not mad or anything. Seems like dozing out in some lectures doesn't affect your grades since you're one of the best top 3 in your year." she stated with a warm smile.

I blushed at her compliment and started looking down to hide my red cheeks. I've been working hard and still will until I reach my goal.

"Anyways, I wanted to ask you something. I've been asked to transfer to a sports school for a week to help out there. It seems like the nurse of that school doesn't have enough 'staff' and can't handle everything with only two people. The training season started there and soon there will competitions so there are many people who get injured while training."

"Oh, I didn't know that professors are allowed to transfer to other colleges like that." I said.

"Only if that college has a close relationship with ours. There are always some schools and colleges who needs some help from us and we are always ready to help them." she explained.

"Oh? I don't want to sound rude but what does that have anything to do with me?" I asked her confused.

"Well, I want you to come with me and be my assistant."

I looked at her shocked.

Me? Did she just said that to me?

She chuckled at my reaction and started to speak again.

"Like I said, you are one of the best top 3 in your year. I always see you working hard on everything and I know that you won't ever disappoint me. So, do you accept this offer?" she finally asked me.

I thought for a bit.

Should I or should I not?

I have no idea which school she means but I think this will be a really good opportunity for me to improve my knowledge of everything I've learned until now.

I looked at her and gave her a small smile.

"I will be in your care."

********

"WHAT?!" Rose yelled in my ear.

"Ow...girl, you don't have to yell! I am right beside you." I told her while holding my left ear.

"Sorry." she gave me a sheepish smile.

"But do you understand what a great chance that is?! You are literally a doctor's assistant for a week!" she yelled again.

"She won't be able to if you keep screaming in her ear like that." Andrew told her.

Rose glared at him before she rolled her eyes and focused on me again.

"It's not a big deal. It's not like I am working at a hospital or so." I said, trying to calm this girls ass down.

"Anyways, congratulation, nerd!" Andrew shouted before hugging me.

"Thanks! And don't call me nerd." I told him, hitting his arm playfully.

"By the way, did she tell you which college?" Rose asked me while she took a bite from her sandwich.

"Nope. She mentioned something with Carolina and some hill. I didn't really pay attention because I was still in shock. She also said I will be living in a dorm for a week but not with other students since I am not one of them. It's kinda a private dorm for guest." I explained while I sipped on my juice.

"Like a hotel or something?" Andrew asked while he looked at himself on the window, fixing his hair.

"You could say it like that."

We finished eating our food and stayed there for another hour until we all went our ways. I had to start packing my things since we will leave tomorrow morning. She will be picking me up with her car.

I've never been in a car alone with a teacher of mine so I will be having a long awkward ride with her.

"I'm home!" I yelled as I entered my house.

I started undoing my shoes and went straight to the kitchen where my mom stood while making some lasagne.

"Welcome home, dear." my mom said.

"Welcome home, princess." my dad greeted as he entered the kitchen.

"Great timing dad. I wanted to tell you guys something." I said with a big grin on my face.

They looked at me confused.

"You got a boyfriend?"

"She already has one, hun."

"You broke up with him?"

"He proposed to you?"

"What?! You're getting married?"

"Wait, n-"

"You're not marrying him because your pregnant, right?"

I stared at my father shocked while my mom punched him lightly in his stomach.

"Why did y-wait, I'm not even gonna ask. I only wanted to tell you guys that I will be gone for a week. I was asked to be an assistant of a professor who was asked to help out at a college somewhere in Carolina." I finally said.

"For one week? When are you leaving?" my mom asked.

"Tomorrow morning."

"Okay, but be careful and call us everytime you can, promise?" my dad asked me.

He's kinda an overprotective father but I don't hate it at all. It is his way of showing that he loves me and cares for me.

"Promise. I will be upstairs and pack my things." I told them and skipped the stairs until I reached my room.

I pulled out my phone and stared at it.

No messages.

No missed calls.

I sighed and threw my phone on my bed. I took out my suitcase from my closet and started packing.

I looked at my nightstand and saw there a photo of me and my friends. It was taken right before I went into surgery. I was sitting on my bed while Blake sat right beside me on my bed. Everyone else were standing both sides of us, smiling happily.

I smiled on those memories and brushed a finger on it. A tear suddenly dropped down on the glass of the picture frame. I tried to wipe away the tears that were starting to slide down my cheeks.

I miss those times.

I miss all of them.

I miss him.
