Deadly snowflakes

Dahlia pushed the two girls she held captive into the ancient grounds, ignoring the grunts of pain from the O'Connell.

"Two centuries ago, the city hung its traitors right here." She noted as she threw the two to the ground.

"I thought it only fitting that it be your slaughtering grounds. And as for you, sweet fragile Ava. Seeming how Niklaus felt it right to take something away from me, it's only fair I reciprocate." She laughed, smashing a glass of witching powder against the floor.

"I actually pity you." She noted as she knelt in front of the O'Connell, brushing her fingertips against her cheeks.

"Forced into a life full of betrayal and death, purely because the original hybrid became infatuated with you. You didn't think he actually loved you, did you Avangaline?" Her voice sent cold shivers against avas spine, the undeniable logic burning behind her words.

"Silly little girl." Dahlia spat as she slapped the blondes cheek. She turned to reprimand her niece, her words filling with nothing but malice.

Ava couldn't help but zone out, to focus on breaking the spell tying her body to the ground.

"And with that stone, I will crush every one of her children." The witch roared as she rose above the two girls. Ava knew they were going to die that night. Or at least come out severely hurt.

"Isn't there a saying about stones and glass houses?" A voice echoed through the alcove. Ava sighed in relief as her gaze rose up toward the source of the voice.

"Took you long enough, Nik." She mumbled, her eyebrow quirked toward the smirking hybrid.

"In case the analogy is lost on you, I believe my brother is calling you a hypocritical bitch." Rebekah chimed in, materialising next to her brother in a flash.

"Bringing vampires to a witch fight. Someone hasn't learnt their lesson." Dahlia sang, kicking the O'Connell down to the floor.

"Well I can be a bit thick sometimes... although in this occasion, I'd say I took your lesson to heart." Klaus commented, trying to ignore the fury he felt when Ava hit the floor.

Everyone froze.

The sound of shackles echoed through the open air, soon followed by the patter of feet as the newly reborn Esther Mikaelson was pushed into plain sight.

Dahlia couldn't help but stare, pain blistered her eyes like boils to her skin. Her one weakness stood before her, presented by the children she so wished to kill.

"My sister... in chains." She laughed, trying to hide the grievous torture she was under. Ava pushed herself back onto her knees, her gaze pleading to Niklaus to not jeopardise the plan. Dahlia had to die, even if that meant others died with her.

"Is she to be a gift for your freedom? Because I brought something." She cackled, uncovering the white oak stake gripped within her hand.

"One stake, three of us. Even if you don't hesitate, the other two will rip you in half." Klaus observed with a malice smirk, an eyebrow cocked in amusement.

"Sound thinking. But small thinking." She reprimanded as the stake shot upward and shattered into dust.

It was as if it was snowing, small speckles just floating down so softly no one would suspect their harm. But each particle of dust was deadly.

Dahlia thrusted her hand outward, forcing the mikaelsons to choke with open mouths. Their veins sprouted red as the dust began to burn their blood, destroying them from the inside.

Ava shrieked from horror, watching yet again the man she loved and his family begin to die. Dahlia tutted as her direction changed to the O'Connell, restricting the air from her throat as the blonde began to choke out in pain.

"Don't- t-touch her!" Klaus roared with his limited breath, clawing toward them. The witch laughed, sending another wave of pain through the hybrids skin.

"Now, sister, let us watch together as I burn your children inside out." She cackled, the siblings crying out in reluctant pain. Ava's gaze began to dot with black spots, clouded by the darkness that she was so afraid of.

"You still carry around so much anger for me after all these years." Esther finally spoke through the tortured cries, stepping toward the circle painted by the witch.

"You broke your vow. We were to stand together always and forever, and you left to marry that brutish viking imbecile. You ended my family, and they were the result." Dahlia spat as she burned the mikaelsons further.
Ava coughed out her subtle cry as she realised how this night would go.

"You call this my wrong doing?" Esther asked dumbfounded, stepping closer toward the group yet again.

"You made me bargain away my firstborn child, my daughter." Esther retorted, glancing down to fear struck girl withheld beside Dahlia.

"Not just this firstborn, but every firstborn, and even then, you found a way to deny me that which you had sworn would be mine. How do you think that felt?" Dahlia reminded her sister, hiding away the pained look restricted within her eyes.

"Now, Esther, say goodbye to the last of your children." She declared as Freya began to choke and cough along with the weak Avangaline.

The O'Connells body was exhumed with exhaustion, only upright due to the strength against her throat.

"Sister, wait. Wait! You have won, Dahlia. You have everything you ever wanted, including the firstborn of a new generation. You have bested us." Esther soothed, her gaze pleading for her sister to stop.

"At least let me try to make amends. Let me share with you the glorious freedom that I have found- in death." Without hesitation the shackles entrapped Dahlias neck, Esther had placed her hands either side so the chains wrapped carefully around her sisters neck.

As soon as Dahlia was made vulnerable, Freya and Ava were allowed breath once again. Freya forced the dust out of her siblings lungs, as Ava fell to the ground barely grasping air.

"Elijah!" Esther called as the man threw the knife toward his brother. Within seconds Klaus had drove the dagger through the elders chest, both women suddenly succumbed with pain.

Ava was swept up within Niklauses arms, her body weak and trembling. Each mikaelson retreated away from the desiccating corpses, their gaze flickering from the two stood frozen in their fleeting moments and the girl teetering on death herself.

"Well, seems we're officially orphans." Rebekah noted as the family stared toward the two undeniably dead.

Ava chuckled softly through her sliver of consciousness, her grip tightening around the handful of material she could grab.

Klaus sighed as he watched the girl flicker from sleep, bruises painted on her throat- hidden slightly by the bandage still wrapped around her skin.

"Come on love, stay awake just a little while longer."
