Once Eira landed she jumped off Brighteyes and ran over to where Hiccup had landed. The smoke had cleared, and all she saw was Toothless laying down.
"No!" She cried, running to the dragon.
"Hiccup! Son! Eira !" Stoick cried.
He ran through the smoke to see Eira crouched down beside Toothless.
"Eira !" He cried. "Thank Thor you're okay."
He wrapped her in an embrace.
"Hiccup." He said, as if all the air had left him.
He stared at the dragon.
"Oh son, I did this."
The smoke clears fully. Astrid comes running up, eyes welled, and so does Gobber. The village crowds around as well. Salty tear cascade down Eira face.
"No, he can't be gone. He can't be." She cried.
Astrid wrapped her arms around Eira in an effort to calm her, as tears fell down her own face. Toothless began to stir and groggily turns to face Stoick.
"I'm so sorry..." Stoick says softly.
Toothless unfolds his wings to reveal Hiccup lying unconscious.
"Hiccup!" Stoick and Eira cry.
Stoick quickly lifted Hiccup and put his ear to his chest. He heard a heartbeat.
"He's alive!" Stoick cried.
Eira hugged her father, tears of sadness being replaced with tears of relief and happiness.
"You brought him back to life. Thank you... For saving my son." Stoick says to Toothless.
Eira lunges at Toothless, wrapping him in an embrace.
"Thank you, thank you for saving Hiccup." Eira whispered to him.
"Well, most of him." Gobber said.
Stoick gave him a look that said "Are you serious?" while Eira grabbed his helmet and whacked him on the head with his helmet, earning a laugh from Astrid. The whole village rejoiced.
"Right, let's head back." Stoick commanded.
"I'll take Hiccup back Eira , you just get his bed ready." Stoick told his daughter.
"You need to bring Toothless back on a boat, he can't fly. I'll see you back on Berk." Eira told her father.
She then hoped on Brighteyes and rounded up the rest of her troops.
"Alright guys, let's head back to Berk." Eira said.
Snotlout, Fishlegs and the twins sprinted off racing to get home. Astrid hung back with Eira .
"Thanks for having my back there. If you didn't, I would probably be dead." Astrid said.
"You can always count on me for having your back." Eira said to her.
"Same here." Astrid replied. "So, are we like, best friends now?"
"Well, you know what they say. Nothing makes as good a friendship as saving someone from a massive angry dragon." Eira laughed as Astrid joined in.
There was a pause.
"Eira , I know you're worried about Hiccup, but he's going to be fine. He's a fighter." Astrid reassured her.
"But what if he's not? I shouldn't have let him do what he did. I should of caught him. I should have...." Eira rambled but was cut off by Astrid.
"You did what you could, and you helped defeat that dragon. Hiccup is, well, Hiccup. He is as stubborn as they get. There was no way he would have not done it."
"I guess. C'mon, let's go home. Hiccup won't be back until morning." Eira said as they flew off in the moonlit sky.

After preparing Hiccup's bed, Eira and Brighteyes headed to the cove.
"Heh, to think that it all began here." Eira said to her dragon.
"So much has happened here. I met you, Hiccup met Toothless, I learnt how to ride you, Hiccup helped Toothless fly again, we taught the others how to fly, we defeated a huge dragon!" She cried.
Brighteyes curled in a ball around Eira .
"Hey, we best get home before we fall asleep here." Eira said, then the two of them flew home.
Stoick had come home and Hiccup was resting in bed. Eira crept up the stairs and saw her brother and his dragon. Hiccup was covered in cuts and bruises. Toothless opened an eye to see who had entered the room, but when he saw it was only Eira and his sister, he went back to sleep. Once Eira saw that her brother was okay, she finally fell asleep.

Three days later.
Eira was sleeping in a chair beside Hiccup's bed. She hadn't left his side since she had come home that day. Gobber had been in and put on Hiccup's new foot. Toothless was sniffing his owner as Hiccup started to move. Hiccups eyes slowly started to open.
"Hey bud." He said weakly.
Toothless began licking his face. Hiccup turned to his side and saw his sister sleeping there. He then shot up and realised he was in his house.
"Uh, Toothless, you're in my house, why are you in my house?" He said as Toothless began to jump around the place.
"Does my dad know your here?" He asked the dragon.
Eira then began to stir.
"Hiccup!" She yelled before wrapping him in a tight embrace.
"Eira ... Can't...... Breath." He choked out.
"Sorry." She said, before punching him in the arm.
"Ah, what was that for?" He asked.
"Scaring me." She replied.
He went to get up, when he sighed. He looked down at his legs. He was missing his left leg. It had been replaced with wood and metal. He looked to his sister.
"We couldn't save it. I'm sorry."
Hiccup grabbed the bedpost, took a deep breath. He stood up and attempted to walk. He took a small step on his new leg. So far, so good. He went to take another step, but fell, only to be caught by Toothless.
"Thanks bud." He said as he hobbled out the door, Eira following.
He was not expecting the sight he saw. Snotlout rode his dragon past the house and he saw dragons helping villagers.
"I knew it. I'm dead." Hiccup sighs.
Stoick came up to him laughing.
"No, but you gave it your best shot." He said. "So, what do you think?"
Before Hiccup could answer, Vikings crowded around, welcoming him back.
"It turns out we needed a little more of..." Stoick says gesturing to all of Eira and Hiccup. "... This."
"You just gestured to all of us." Eira said.
"Well, most of you." Gobber said, gesturing to Hiccup's new leg. "That's my handiwork, with a bit of Hiccup flare added to it. What do you think?"
"Eh, I might tweak it a bit." He said, earning laughs from everyone around.
Then Astrid walks up to Hiccup and punches him in the arm.
"That's for scaring me." She said.
"Is it always going to be like this? Cause I...." Hiccup starts to rant before Astrid kisses him.
"... Could get used to it." He finishes as Astrid laughs.
Then, Toothless bounds over to Hiccup. Aisling watches from the house door, Brighteyes by her side.
"Eira , thank you for showing me that we can live in peace with the dragons." Stoick said.
"You're welcome." She replied. Then she remembered something.
Eira raced into the house and grabbed something for Hiccup.
"Hiccup!" She cried.
Hiccup turned around.
"While you were out, I thought I would help you out. I know Toothless needed a new tail, and with a little help from Gobber..." She said as she hands him a new tail. It is red with a Viking on it.
Hiccup eagerly puts it on Toothless and tries it out.
"It's perfect, thank you." He says. "Now, who's up for a flight?" He asked.
"You know I'm down!" Eira cried as she hoped on Brighteyes. The two of them started flying around the village.
This... Is Berk. It snows nine months of the year and hails the other three. Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so. The only upside are the pets. While other places have ponies, or parrots, we have....
