« Kellin »

The four of us boarded my dead uncle’s plane. It had just enough gas to get us where we needed to be. We packed pretty heavily, so we had to divide our belongings into four backpacks, which, luckily, I had under my back seat–what? Killing high school students came in handy sometimes…

Anyway, I had all of the weapons and torture devices and such. Vic had our clothing. Zack had his personal belongings. Tay had the things we took from the cabin, like food and stuff. She didn’t seem to mind. It wasn’t really heavy, so.

Once I made sure everyone was on the plane, I checked to see if we had enough parachutes; we did. We had five. I decided to keep my backpack on while flying so I wouldn’t need to go scrambling around for it later. Zack took the co-pilot seat while Vic and Tay sat in the back.

Okay, I didn’t give this plane enough credit. It was like a private fucking jet. If I weren’t flying this fucking thing, I’d be enjoying the hell out of myself back there, getting wasted and shit. Holy hell, now I’m jealous. I think that’s enough cursing for now.

Zack buckled himself in. I followed suit and started hitting all of the necessary buttons. I picked up the little walkie-talkie thing and pressed the button on the side so I could talk to the two in the back. “Vic, make sure the door is locked.”

I heard shuffling from behind me, the click of a lock, and more shuffling afterwards. “Thank you,” I said into the walkie-talkie. I heard a quiet, “You’re welcome,” come from him. Setting the walkie-talkie back on its dock, I closed my eyes, sighed, checked my back pocket for the note (it was safely there), opened my eyes, and slowly moved the plane forward.

While getting up into the air, everyone was silent; even Tay and Vic. I was okay with them talking to each other and stuff now that I knew they would never get together. It’s not like I’d let Tay leave my sight, now, anyway, to tell anyone about what’s going on here.

Finally, we got high enough into the air. I told the two in the back that they could get up and such now, and soon after, I heard the opening of the mini-fridge. Zack was still quiet, which I was mostly thankful for. I didn’t really know what to talk about with him. Honestly, though, I was wondering if killing Jenna had any negative effect on his mental state of mind.

“No,” Zack said suddenly. I had said that out loud? Oops. “I liked killing Jenna. She was more supportive of Alex and Jack just because they were in a relationship. I, however, was and am not in one, hence why I am here. She didn’t really care about me because I didn’t have a boyfriend to be ‘shipped’ with.”

“Dumb bitch,” He added after a minute of silence. I cracked a smile and laughed a little at his tone. Zack grinned after he saw my face. I hit a few more buttons and checked where we were. We were about a half hour away from the edge of our hometown. I planned to have us crash in the field on the opposite side of town, so we still had about an hour or so of flight time.

“So, you and Vic, huh?”

I blushed. Zack laughed again. I couldn’t help but smile a bit wider. The simple mention of Vic and I (or just Vic) was enough to get me to be happy, which never happened. Before I met Vic, before I kidnapped him, I was never happy. Ever. “Yeah. Just made it official back there.”

“Ooh, kill ‘em, Kellin!” Zack joked, nudging my shoulder. I rolled my eyes and shook my head despite the smirk on my face still. “Y’know, I hated the whole idea of being shipped with another person because it’s relatively pointless, and I feel like Jenna saying this, but I just thought of your ship name with Vic.”

“Really? What is it?” I questioned, suddenly curious and a bit interested. Hashtag gay moment. Jeez, Kellin. Get your shit together man, I scolded myself, although I didn’t really take it seriously.

“Kellic. Like, Kellin plus Vic. Kell–, and –ic. Get it?” My partner-in-crime (it was weird to think of someone as my “partner” because I always worked alone) asked excitedly, wiggling his eyebrows. It kind of freaked me out, but I couldn’t help but laugh yet again.

“Yes, Zachary, I get it,” I sighed teasingly, making Zack frown at the use of his full name. I knew he didn’t like being called by his full name; only Zack or Merrick. Even ‘Z’ was okay with him. “It’s very creative. Now, go be a dear and check up on my man and the chick, would you?”

He did as he was told, leaving me in utter silence other than the roar of the engine. I huffed and looked straight ahead, occasionally flicking my gaze elsewhere to make sure everything was in check. This shit was fucking nerve-wracking. I’ve only flown this plane with ‘adult supervision,’ never on my own, so I was a bit tense.

“Hey, babe.”

I nearly jumped out of my own fucking skin. When I saw it was Vic in the doorway, I gave him a glare before quickly looking back out the windshield. “Don’t scare me like that unless you wanna’ fucking die,” I grumbled, trying to sound harsh, but it didn’t really work as planned.

Vic stepped closer and pecked my cheek, brushing some of my hair out of my eyes. So this is what it’s like to actually see, I thought to myself. “Sorry. Zack told me about the ship name or whatever that he came up with, and I wanted to ask if you liked it.”

“Of course I did,” I responded softly, turning the plane a bit to the left. Vic gripped the top of my seat. “I only like it because it’s for you and me, not you and someone else, or me and someone else.”

That made him genuinely smile. “Have I ever told you how adorable you are?” Vic suddenly blurted out, his cheeks tinted pink. Mine copied, only a darker shade of red, due to the fact that the question was aimed to me.

“Maybe. I can’t remember,” I said, licking my lips nervously. “Why don’t you tell me just how adorable I am, just so I can say ‘yes’ the next time you ask that?” Where the fuck was all of this mushy-gushy lovey-dovey gay-as-hell shit coming from? Oh, right. My soul, since I’m gay at heart. Duh, Kell.

“Well, you’re really fucking adorable,” Vic commented, running his fingers along my cheek. I shivered slightly. “Your skin is flawless. Your tattoos are, in fact, amazing and badass. It adds to the whole ‘killer, rawr’ attitude you have going on.”

When he said ‘rawr’, he held up his hands like a bear or some other animal. I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear at his silliness. Vic grinned from ear to ear, too, before continuing. “Your hair is way better than anyone else’s that I’ve ever seen. Your clothes are amazing and I’m very glad they fit me because they’re about to be all mine.”

I scoffed. No way in hell all of my stuff will be his.

“Your eyes are sparkly and shit. I could stare at them all day and get lost, never getting bored of it. Your body isn’t too muscle-y to where it’s gross, nor too weak to where it’s unhealthy. It’s just perfect for you.”

I blushed. Again.

“I love the way you adorably cuddle me at night and when I wake up. Last but not least… those full lips of yours. I love the way they feel on mine when you kiss me. They’re better than any girl’s lips.”

I hit the auto-pilot button, moved the seat back a little, and yanked Vic into my lap. My lips pressed against his; not roughly, but harder than usual. He put his hands on my chest and eagerly kissed me back. It was like the little fucker planned for this to happen.

But it’s not like I minded. He’s my little fucker, and I really don’t mind a bit that I’m kissing him instead of flying a plane that’s going to be crashed anyway in an evil plan to escape the cops and America.

Nope. I don’t mind at all.

Kellin finally went back to flying the plane. Vic came back to the two of us; his hair messed up, his clothes shifted, and his eyes dazed. I rolled my eyes and smirked, making Vic blush. Tay just watched him with slightly big eyes.

See, this is probably a shock to her. She’s always known Vic as the straightest guy in Claremont High. He always flirted with girls and had girlfriends. Besides, Vic would’ve told her if he was gay, since they were joined at the hip. They have been since kindergarten.

“Uh, Tay… I kind of have to tell you something. It’s really important,” Vic said hesitantly, scraping his foot on the flooring of the plane. I pushed myself out of the seat I was in and turned to go to the bathroom. Once I got inside, I left the door open just a bit to look through and watch. Call me a stalker.

Vic sat down next to her and took her hand. Tay stared at him. “Er… I’m not sure how to tell you this, so I’m just gonna’ come out and say it,” He started, taking a deep breath. Tay blinked. “I’m… gay.”

It sounded like a question in the way his voice rose anxiously, but it was meant to be a statement. My gaze flickered to Tay to see what her reaction was, but before she could say anything, Vic continued talking. “I only just found out when–uh–well–I, uh–‘met’ Kellin, and uh–he just–I don’t know–um–I’m sorry for not telling you, but I couldn’t, because I only just found out, and–”

“–and Kellin kidnapped you, so you couldn’t tell me, I know,” Tay cut him off. Vic’s eyes widened, but he nodded nonetheless. I bit my lip. I was actually the one who told Tay that Vic was kidnapped by Kellin when I drove her back to the cabin. Yeah, I know, if Kellin found out, he’d fucking kill me (literally) but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him, right?

“I still love you, Vic,” She smiled, patting his thigh like she always did to reassure him of something. “You’re still my best friend, and I’m not mad. I think you two are really cute together. Zack, what was that name you were bragging about earlier?” Only Vic glanced towards the bathroom.

Shit. Busted.

I pushed the door open and sheepishly walked out. Rubbing my neck, I stuttered, “Uh, K-Kellic.” Tay grinned, but she didn’t look at me. Vic’s face flushed, as did mine. I shyly smiled, mostly embarrassed right now. Tay never failed to make me uncomfortable; she always knew if I was watching.

Kellin suddenly appeared in the doorway to the cockpit. He had his backpack on his back and the envelope in his hand. We all watched him go to the bar counter, slip a pen out of a drawer, open the envelope, take out the note, unfold it, scribble something on it, fold it, put it back in the envelope, seal the envelope, put the pen back in the drawer, and shut it with his hip.

“Gay,” I grumbled, talking about his little hip-bump with the drawer. He narrowed his eyes at me and flicked his head to try and move his hair out of his eyes; it failed as it always did.

“I’m not the feminine gay like Vic is–get your hand off of him,” Kellin snapped, eyeing Tay’s hand on Vic’s thigh. Vic gave him a look, and Tay scoffed, but she moved her hand. Kellin’s mood went back to normal afterwards. “Anyway, grab a parachute. It’s on auto-pilot; set to last for five more minutes. We have to jump at the same time.”

I nodded my head once and turned on my heel. Opening the little closet across from the bathroom, I grunted as I threw four parachutes out, knowing full-well that we won’t need the fifth, so I left that in there. I shut the door out of habit and picked up the closest parachute to me. I slung it on my back over the backpack holding my stuff and buckled it over my chest.

The others had done the same. Once we were all ready, we only had a minute and a half to jump before this shit went down into flames. Tay and Vic kept giving each other weary glances as if they didn’t want to jump first and they wanted the other one to instead. Kellin was obviously going to wait until last to jump.

“Big babies,” I rolled my eyes as I pushed my way to the door. “Here we go!” I unlocked the door and didn’t hesitate to leap out. I shut my eyes and listened to the wind whiz by my ears as I sped closer and closer to the ground. I heard three parachutes open above me soon after, queuing me to open my own.

I yanked on the chord and felt my body immediately slow down. I opened my eyes a little and watched as the grass came closer and closer. Kellin yelled something that sounded like, “Close your eyes!” I did, and right after, a loud boom and heat followed.

The plane had crashed.

I felt my boot touch hard Earth. I bent my knees, bracing for impact, and stood up, steady as could be. Vic and Tay, however, tumbled to the ground, probably getting faces full of dirt. Kellin landed on his feet hard next to me, but didn’t fall like them. He immediately tossed off the parachute and took mine off of my back, putting them together.

“Pile ‘em up,” He ordered Vic and Tay. They did as told and brushed themselves off afterwards. Kellin tossed a lit lighter on the parachutes and let himself get lost in the flames. Vic whispered something to Tay, who nodded and avoided her eyes from the fire and Kellin. I raised my eyebrows in question; Vic noticed, but looked away, too.

“Kell,” I said, gaining his attention. He muttered something like ‘oh, right,’ and walked over to Tay. She didn’t flinch. He zipped open her backpack, took out the extra-large water bottle, and dumped the entire thing over the flames. The parachutes were ashes now. He closed the cap and put it back into her backpack, zipping it up.

“Now,” Kellin spoke up, but he trailed off in his own thoughts. He jogged a bit closer to the wreckage that was the plane and set the envelope down in hopes that it would stay. We could already hear sirens in the distance, probably responding to distress calls made by citizens who saw it crash.

“Alright, now we can go to my cousin’s house. I’m expecting all of you to be on your best behavior while we stay with her. Am I understood?” He looked at each of us individually. We all nodded. “She’s been through a lot, and I don’t want to make any problems for her now. She means… never mind that. Let’s go.”

Vic smiled a little at the last thing he said. I know it’s not right to assume things, but one, I’m pretty sure Vic knew what Kellin was going to say, and two, I think I knew what Kellin was going to say.

“She means a lot to me.”
