Drew
Stasia is going to leave! I know she is, I see it in her eyes. I've had her on 24-hour watch, if I'm not with her, Krip is or dad. They both feel it coming too. She thinks she can solve everything if she just runs, or goes straight to the lion's den! Which will only make things worse?
We've been in meeting after meetings trying to figure out what to do. Dad has a plan but Prez isn't convinced that it will work. He thinks by using our plan that we're moving the problems elsewhere. But dad and I think he won't be ready for the move. So when we take off back to Melbourne he won't be ready and we will be able to find him ! cause when we do, he's going to die. I swear on my Nana's grave, him and Frankie are dead men walking!
We're in another meeting right now and Prez is talking it out with dad, looks like Savie is coming down for Stasia and then we are going to see if we drive or fly to Melbourne.
Shit, he's going to let it happen. Ok, we have a start!
"Drew what are you doing if she goes... and what if she wants to stay there when this shit storm blows over."
"Prez I'll want to go, but I think I'm needed here! But once it's done, I'm with her. Whatever her decision!she's been through enough. I'm going to let her decide. But she does have Sophie here, so I think she will be back."
Prez nods knowing whatever happens I'm with Stasia. Krip nods to me, he must agree with my choice, not that I care I just want her safe.
There's some frantic knocking at the door and Prez nods for the doors to be opened, Mira is standing there she looks at Krip first then at her dad and spills it "Dad they're gone. Stasia, I'm pretty sure she left first. Then Sophie and Keata cause I saw Sophie and Keata not long ago, they were looking for Stasia! Shit, I grab my keys and so does everyone else. Bullet is ringing Soph but I know it's no use with Stasia, she made her mind up days ago we all saw it. We just have to find her. Dad swears behind me and throws something at the wall!
"Drew you go find her take Krip and Nova I've got to head to Perth soon to pick up Savie, shit ... what was she thinking!"
"Dad, you know what she had in her mind she's been distant since Tommy died" we've got his funeral tomorrow and Stasia knew this, probably thought we wouldn't even think twice to find her because of the funeral. Grrr Ahh, I'm going to smack her ass when I get her back safe! She better be safe.
Heading out back, I jump on my bike, Krip and Nova are behind me. We start up together then Mira runs up saying "Bullet got hold of Sophie she's 2 towns over in Yornup, she was heading to Bridgetown, she seems to think that's where she will go!" I nod. I'm not in the mood for small talk and I'm going to find it hard to rain it in when I get my hands on her. Shit!
Just before I take off I tell Mira, "Get someone to the house, and not you! Need to know if she got her car or not." Mira nods, I can't hear her over the engines now anyway, then she walks to her dad.
Bullet just snakes out of the entrance with Knight and Trigger. So there will be the six of us, till we split up at Yornup.
It takes us 15min to get to Yornup, breaking speed limits all the way. Cops usually leave us be, but as we see Soph up ahead one starts up behind us with its sirens.
Jesus, I just want her back so I know she's safe.
We all pull over and the officer is pretty cool about everything.
I get a text from Mira and Prez saying her cars gone. How the fuck did she manage that?
I ask the cop, "How long you been on duty today."
he responds with,
"Since 7:30 am in this spot. Who we lookin for?"
I'm just hoping he's seen her car "She has a honda civic 2 door black, the cars probs about 20 years old" he's nodding saying "She came through here about 3 hours ago, mmm... might have been 2 and a half but she was driving safely, not rushing. Hope that helps boys! Now you guys try to keep it a bit slower ok especially in the town areas!" I nod and thank him for his help.
Turning I see Bullet and Sophie in a heated conversation and I don't think Soph's going to win this time. He's wild and I can see Keata looks worried in the back seat of the car. Bullet turns his back to Soph then tells me "go on, but keep in touch." I nod to him knowing that Stasia and me are going to be in the same mind space. As I start up the bike with Nova and Krip, Trigger says he's going to come with us just in case, I just nod and take off I know Bullet is fine by himself, but Knight's just as deadly, which people underestimate because he's always doing dumb shit with women!
It takes us another 15 minutes to get to Bridgetown. There's only one road in these towns. The streets that run off them are only leading to housing all the commercial stuff is on the main road. There's only 1 bank, 1 post office, 3 pubs well 2 but there is a 3rd. if she's here, she would have been seen by someone. You have to love little towns.
I head to the last pub where I know an old fella who knows everything that happens here, even if it's just a car passing through. Walking through the doors I spot him at the pool table, as usual, it's just inside the front door. "Hey, Drew. What brings you down these parts. No trouble I hope!"
"Nah old man, just looking for my girl, she took off scared. The cop in Yornup said she headed this way."
"Scared you say? What makes you think I'll tell you then if I saw her and she's scared!... what you do to her."
Shaking my head I reply"Nothing old man, she's running from her past and if I don't find her it's going to catch her. You saw her ?"
"Yeah, she stops at the servo, put in more petrol. Looks to me she might be driving some more."
Shit, where is she going? Looking outside I try to think but then Trigger is tapping on the window saying "Who is that he's been on our tail since we left, kept his distance but definitely following."
I look closer but I've not seen him before.
Could be someone who works for them or it could be fucken Frankie. My blood boils thinking it might be him. Before I know it I'm nearly out the door when Trigger gets me by the arm and pulls me back.
"Drew who ever it is it's better he doesn't know we see him. Keeps us in front, leave him I've got him in my sights, Yeah brother, if he changes direction I'll follow and give you a heads up, ok." Shit, I nod knowing I'm holding on by a thread. He seems to know as well cause he tells me "You either need a shot to cool down brother, or a beer. Let me chat to some of the locals, I might find something, go have a beer!" Krip agrees with Trigger and heads straight to the bar and Nova goes out the door, he's going to the servo on the next corner to ask about Stasia and looks like Trigger's going the opposite way.
As I get to the bar Krip passes me a beer saying "Let me tan her ass! That way you can still talk to her... or what ever!"
"Krip you're not touching her ass got me! But I'm going to have trouble holding my cool... Fuck I'm pissed she did this."
Krip just shakes his head "We all knew she was going to. Fuck we even stepped up the guys on her. I wonder who let her out! Just put your anger on them. She doesn't know that side of you. Keep it that way!"
I don't think I'm going to have a choice, I'm going out of my mind sitting here. I chug back my beer and ask for another when I'm finished, I'll be walkin outside and seeing what they found out. I'm just about to finish my beer when Nova comes back in. He comes up close and says quietly "She's staying in the next town, filled up her tank and will be back later to meet the guy with the keys." Shit,
"If she comes back the guy following us is going to find her."
Nova shakes his head no "Got the guys number. Told him to ring her and tell her to meet at the place she's going to be staying at. I've also text Trigger to start a wild goose chase. So he's setting that up were good, so we got till 4. Even got us a car to use, one of the staff said we could, so that guy doesn't follow us" I sit back and look at him. He has this covered! Shit! He slaps my back and tells me "We got your back brother, just order lunch have another beer then we will get her. I'll be back, got some shit to set up!"
He walks back out the door. Krip hasn't stopped drinking next to me "Brother you going to stay sober?"
"Nope! I'm so pissed at her, so best I drink a bit more. By the time we're back on the road tonight I'll be fine or I'll take that hot barmaid up on her offer!"
It doesn't feel long before 3:30 comes and that's when Nova comes in with keys pointing to the back of the pub, we head out the back. There's a car that's waiting for us with dark tint too. Luck is on our side. I'm feeling a bit better, but I'm not sure if I trust myself when I see her. I'm fucken mad! But I'm starting to see why she thinks it would be easier this way. If only she had no assholes after her!
