One of the best hangover cures my friends use is raw egg with some olive oil salt pepper and tomato sauce and now I'm going to give that to him. I used an egg and prepared the drink and went to the room. There he was, laying on the bed hands and legs spread wide occupying the entire bed.
"Manik utho" i said and no movement.
"Manik utho naa it's noon already. Have you forgotten, we are flying tomorrow. Jaldhi utho" i said and again no movement.
So now last resort, water splash.
"mummaaa" he got up with a jerk jumping on the bed.
"Manik it's me tum uth nai re the isliye this" i said showing him the glass.
"Ouchhhh" he said holding his head and fell off.
"Kya hua sir" i asked.
"My head, it hurts like hell" he said.
"That's called hangover in English" i said.
"it's not funny, bohot dard ho raha hain" he said and now i was a little worried if it's something more than hangover.
"Manik, wait let me get you some water" i said and got him a glass of warm water.
"Feeling better?" i asked.
"I will go freshen up" he said and went to the restroom.
Okay, i give up on the egg drink. I don't want to trouble him more.
"Manik are you alright?" i asked from outside.
"Kind of" he said.
"Oye, kya hua? Are you fine? Kisne bola tha itna peene ko kya bol kar gaye the aur kya kar ke aaye ho? Baahar aao tum bataati hoon" i was flustered.

Oh man! Mein toh gaya kaam se. Sab kuch kameene Matt ki wajah se hua. School gaya tha aur wohh raaste mein mil gaya. He was there to collect some documents aur usne bol diya chalo let's go play a game and have a drink. I didn't even notice when one drink became a pitcher and when I was down. "Then keep doing until tonight" she said and went into the kitchen.
"Yaar that's not fair. Did i ever get high? You remember Deepu's girls night out. I got you back safe and then that holi night, i had everything set up for you by the time you open your eyes the next morning. Now it's your turn to do them all for me" he said in one go.
"Acha ji. So now you even have a justification for this act huh? You know how scared i was when you didn't pick my call up? Like repeatedly! MANIK MALHOTRA atleast be sorry for this" she said.
"Sorry times 100. I'm really sorry and i will make sure this does not repeat. Ab toh maaf kardo meri jaan" he said.
"fine. But you have something to do. Ek minute ruko" she said and went into the bedroom.
"Could you please sign on this?" she aksed putting a paper infront of him.
"what's this?" he asked looking at it
"My contract to sing with you in your next album. you promised me last night" she said.
"What? You and singing? Wohh bhi Manik Malhotra ke saath? You gotta be kidding me" he said and started laughing hysterically and she was fuming here in anger.
"there's another document" she said and he saw that and was totally surprised.
"This is impossible" he said.
"What? You said you are transfer all your property on my name. You asked me to remind you about all these things once you get up this morning" she said and he gulped the whole glass of water in one shot.

"you can't take advantage of someone who was drunk and couldn't remember things like this. You know this is so not done Ms. Murty" he said.
"Mrs. Malhotra it is, and yes I'm not taking advantage, I'm just helping you out" she said.
"Yaar ek toh mera sar phat ra hain and you say all these things? Enough na, i know you're mad at me but aise jataana? Chee chee very cheap nandu" he said walking past her.

She gave them to him, hiding her smile. He signed on them and gave them back to her.
"Happy now? Ab se saari responsibility tumhaari. I'm retired and am going to enjoy my retirement life. Office ghar business deals sab tum sambhaal lenaa Mrs. Malhotra" he said.
And the next moment she started laughing.
"Manik, agar mein boloon toh tum kahi pe bhi sign karloge? What if these were really your property papers?" she asked.
"Meine aisa kiya iska matlab i Trust you, aur mijhe pata hain woh property papers nai hain 😂😂😂😂" he said.
"Patha hain?" she was shocked.

"woh contract ke liye sahi se papers banaayenge india jaane ke baad" he said.
"Waise hua kya kal raat? Did i trouble you?" he asked.
"Bilkul nai. Tum bohot cute lag rahe the, with that innocent face, like mujhe kuch nai pata mein chota bachha hoon jaisa face" she said.
"But you know what, i would have enjoyed if you played the DDLJ drama. You know like, 'Manik tum ne kya kar diya mere saath 😢😢😢😢 i didn't expect you to be like that. Meine tum pe trust kiya. Ab mera kya hogaaaa uhuhuuhuhu 😂😂😂😂' you know something like that" he said.
"You're such a drama queen Manik. Ab bhi sar dard hain?" she asked.
"Come here" he said sitting on the couch.
"Breakfast banaa ri hoon" she said.
"Aao toh sahi" he said so she came turning the stove off.
"Kya hain?" she asked.

Okay, apart from that psychotic uncle, nandini also has a big family. Her aunt, that brat Rahul's younger sister and a very sweet grandmother.
So yesterday i called up her grandmother's place and that lady was so happy to hear from me.
FLASHBACK
"hello dadi. Mein Manik bol raha hoon, Manik Malhotra. Nandini's" i was struggling with the word when she said,

Is liye mein chahtha hoon ki hamaari shaadi mein aap aaye. Dadi mein dada ji aur uncle se bhi baat karloonga, maafi bhi maang looonga. Dadi, nandini aap ki granddaughter hain, aap ko nai lagtha hain kya uski ithni important day hain aur aap ko bhi aana chahiye? Past mein jo bhi hua uske liye hum apni future ko kharaab nai kar sakte haina. Nandini ko bohot khushi hogi agar aap aayenge toh"
I said all i wanted to say in one go.
"Tum sahi keh rahe ho beta i always wanted to see her, talk to her. Itne saal ho gaye aur apni pothi se ek baar bhi mil nai paayi" she was becoming emotional.
"Dadi I'm really glad ki aap aana chahthi hain. Mein dada ji se bhi baat karna chahta hoon. Ho sakta hain?" i asked hesitantly. I don't know what I'm going to say, but this is needed.
"try karti hoon" she said and the next i heard his voice.
"ab kya karna baaki reh gaya Malhotra" he asked
"Bohot zaroori kaam" i said.
"Seedhe seedhe batao kya. Waise bhi tumhe dene ke liye kuch nai hain mere paas" he said.
I felt a tinge of guilt.
"Aap ke paas aisa kuch hain jo kisi aur ke paas nai hain" i said.
Okay, we are beating around the bush.
"Seedhe seedhe batao" he said.
"Mein aur Nandini shaadi karne waale hain, hamein aap ka aashirwaad chahiye. Yeh toh de sakte haina?" i asked
There was silence for a moment.
"Shaadi kab hain?" he asked.
"21st May" i said.
"Theek hain, aaoonga. Aur kuch?" he asked.
Wait, is this really that simple?
"Ji nai. Nai nai haan, I'm sorry for all that happened. Aisa nai honaa chahiye tha, i tried to be nice par" i didn't finish my sentence.
"mujhe uske baare mein koi baat nai karni" he said.
"Theek hain" i said.
"Rakhtha hoon" he said.
"Ji, mein aapko card bhej doonga" i said and hung up.
Gosh! Done! Now i don't know how she's gonna react.
Next, i invited my chachi who missed the engagement and this time she promised to be there.
I'm sure mom dad will really be happy to see her on my wedding.
After finishing all these calls, i went to school to finish the relieving formalities at work and met Matt and the rest is known to you guys.
FLASHBACK DONE
"tum se kuch baat karni thi something important" i said.
"kya baat hain"
"I spoke to your grandparents yesterday, i invited them to our wedding"

"It was your dada ji. Ismein dadi ka kya mistake hain? Do you even know how happy she was to talk to me, itne sawaal poocha unhone tumhaari baare mein. nandini she loves you so much"
"Doesn't matter. Jo meri mom dad ko happy nai kar paaye, wohh mujhe nai chahiye. You don't know kitna suffer kiya mumma pappa ne unki wajah se, nai manik yeh theek nai kiya tum ne" she was disappointed.
"beta meri baat suno. There's nothing you get back by holding grudges. Jo hua so hua. I know they had done something unforgivable. But nandini you have to move on. And trust me mumma pappa bohot khush honge if your grandparents be a part of our wedding" i tried to convince her.
"i don't know Manik. Tum mere liye jo bhi karte ho soch ke karte ho. Isliye mein is decision pe tumhe trust kar rahi hoon, but next time you plan to do such things, pooch liya karo ek baar" she said.
"Sure. Chalo ab let's finish rest of the packing, time nai hain. Aur haan aaj kuch Cook mat karna we'll order something" i said and she agreed.
So yes, it's really going to be a Big Fat Indian Wedding with the entire family....
Can't wait anymore.
