DREW
Hearing the front door open, I look around to see Sophie carrying Keata inside, as she closes the door behind them, she walks over to take
a look at Stasia. She's been asleep for the last hour!
"Ouch that girl is in the wars, what the hell happened, Joan didn't really say much?"
"Well, I heard a bang like she fell, which she did. When I opened the door really quickly and she slid straight into the door handle. I've
been icing her eye but her knee seems ok. she says there's no pain, but I don't believe her"
"Good for you, she always says she's fine, drives me nuts"
Soph puts Keata down by her toys and says as she points to her daughter
"She'll be fine, I'll start dinner.... you staying or leaving?"
shaking my head
"Nah, I'm staying but I'm supposed to meet up with Bullet, you mind if I meet him here I sort of feel responsible"
Looking down at Stasia I stroke her
hair out of her face Soph interrupts me
"Yeah well you sort of are... anyway yeah that's fine, I can make extras I'll just freeze it if no one stays"
with that, she walks off and I get my phone out to ring Bullet.
By the time Bullet shows up the girls are chatting in the kitchen, as usual, Stasia won't take no for an answer, so I compromised, she's sitting at
the table while soph is cooking up a storm.
Walking out to meet Bullet we shoot the shit till Soph comes and tells us dinners ready.
Sitting at the table together is not too awkward
considering Bullet has Keata eating out of the palm of his hand!! who knew??
Next thing I know Bullet talks to both girls
"Hey we have a family bbq on Saturday you girls should come" Soph looks at Keata then at Stasia
shaking her head,
"Nah I'm good I don't take Nikeata out unless I know it's safe for her, Saturday we go to the park anyway. But thanks"
Stasia goes to say something but Bullet speaks first "She'll be safe, I'll make sure of it. And there are a few kids about her age that are club kids going, it will be good for her and I'll stay sober so you and
Stasia can have a couple. Drew too, we'll watch her. Besides you, both need a break and we'd like to give it to ya."
I put my bit in next
"Yeah, Bullet and I can play with Keata you two can relax. And Stasia I really want you to meet my family please...."
Stasia is looking at Sophie
"Soph, Drew asked me before, but I told him I'll get back to him after we talk.. up to you honey" Soph looks deep in thought.... After about a min she responds
"Look Nikeata stresses out easy, she also has
seizures, you two don't know what you're asking and even if I say yes, which I haven't made my mind up yet.... Its ...its just not that easy with
her, she will need her walker, the other kids might not like her and ...."
I try to reassure her but Bullet pushes on,
"Sophie I'll personally take you guys there and home if she doesn't settle I'll drive you home no questions asked, just see what happens we might surprise you."
Sophie is biting her bottom lip hard now, I can see how stressed she is.
"Soph, think on it, sleep on it and you can tell me tomorrow ok."
That seems to help make up her mind,
"Ok I'll let you know"
With that Bullet and I get up and start to clear away the plates and clean up.
When we finish Soph is nowhere in sight and Stasia is sitting with her eyes closed, I go back into the kitchen, find some panadol, a glass of water and bring it back to her.
Bullets sitting on the single recliner
so I move Stasia's head so it's on my lap then make her take the Panadol, she's so stubborn.
When Soph comes out, she looks at us, there's nowhere for her to sit so she goes on the floor near the single recliner. Looking at us she lets
out a big sigh,
"Ok, but Bullet you promise straight back here no matter what, if I say let's go we leave" Bullet stares straight into her eyes as he answers
"No question, straight back" I smile then I see Stasia smile when she turns her head to look at Soph she groans again
"I don't think I'll be drinking if I can't lift this headache."
After the main plan is settled, ( which is me staying over and when Bullet will arrive to pick us up on Saturday) we all have a bit of a laugh, shoot the shit, fuck if I care what we're talking about having Stasia's head on my lap is the best feeling ever.
As soon as Bullet says he's leaving I whisper
close to Stasia ear come on beautiful time for bed.
Picking Stasia up, with her protesting I wave to them goodnight.
Putting Stasia in bed I start to take off my jacket
"W-what are you doing"
smiling to myself I keep undressing
"don't worry I'll leave my boxes on.. and I promise I'll just hold you"
She mutters something under her breath, something like "God help me"
I pull my side of the bed back and ask,
"anything you need your nightie, drink...." she shakes her head no.
Then she pulls out her nighty from under her pillow... who the fuck does that nowadays. sliding under the
covers she gets undressed then puts on her nighty I want to remind her
that I've already been intimate with her but I leave it for now.
When she 's settled, I pull her over to me, spooning her from behind then kiss her just under the ear, "night beautiful" as she snuggles
back into me she mumbles "night Drew" then her breathing evens out.
Before I know it, I'm out like a light.
