Camila's POV

As I was waiting for Lauren to visit me before she left, I couldn't help but ponder on the whole situation. There was no question that Lauren's opportunity could cause a gap in our so far flawless relationship.

We hadn't faced much trials, except from the very start, but distance was a whole other factor that I hadn't even considered. It was only going to be a week, for now. That was what terrified me the most. That the one week would turn into more weeks and then months.

Hearing footsteps approaching outside my door, I immediately ran out and tore the door open, crashing myself into the body. Her strong arms soon wrapped around my body and I nestled into her comfortable chest.

"Well, hello to you too." Lauren chuckled while hugging me tightly.

I planted a soft kiss on her lips, the familiar tingling appearing in my stomach. "Don't leave me." I murmured knowing she would have to, but I couldn't help but try anyways. "You can stay in my room. No one has to know."

"I wish." Lauren laughed, the action causing her chest to rumble against my cheek. "You'd get sick of me after a week though."

"I don't think that's possible." I admitted and Lauren lifted my chin with her finger, cupping my face afterwards with an endearment radiating from her emerald eyes.

"It's only a week." Lauren repeated again, but it didn't make me feel any better than the other times she told me. I was still feeling the churning in my stomach at the thought of her leaving.

She leaned forwards, giving me another kiss and I didn't hesitate to deepen it. I grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her lips firmly against mine, opening my mouth to give her free access. Lauren hummed against my lips, her tongue taking advantage of the free space as she rubbed it against mine slowly. Lauren's hands gripped my hips hungrily.

Then, right when Lauren was about to step closer, I pulled away with a smirk. "Good luck at the practice." I grinned as Lauren fluttered her eyes open, staring at me with her mouth slightly open.

"You just made this a whole lot more difficult." Lauren groaned and buried her face into the crook of my neck. "Now I want to stay here forever."

"Your mom's waiting, Laur." I clucked, waving to Clara as she exited the car. "I think you've to go."

"Alright." Lauren relented and lifted her head. "I'll call you when I get there, okay?"

"Sounds good." I bit down on my lips as Lauren bowed forwards and placed a chaste kiss on my lips.

"Talk to you soon." Lauren smirked as she backed away from me and I watched her get into the car with her mom. I gulped down a lump that had started to form the second Lauren's warm presence left mine.

God, this was going to be so hard.

Lauren's POV

The whole drive was basically one long trip of misery. With thoughts of Camila constantly floating my mind, I didn't know what to do with myself. She'd looked a lot more worried than I'd expected her to, and although I could understand her reason, I didn't like to see her like that.

The long-distance part felt much more risky now than when I'd first gotten the call about my acceptance. I bowed down into the bag lying by my feet and searched after my phone. I let out a sigh, as there were no new messages on the display.

"Camila's not going anywhere." My mom clarified from the driver seat, drawing my attention. "She'll be there when you get home."

"I know." I nodded. "It's just that I already miss her." I added while carving a grimace.

"You know," My mom started. "I always liked Luis, because I thought he was a decent boy. Now, I don't know Camila very well, but you're smiling more recently and if that's because of her, I think she's special." She announced and turned in her seat to look at me.

"I love her." I admitted with a slight blush in my cheeks before looking out the window with a satisfied smile. If the happiness showing was displaying only half of the happiness on the inside, it was more nearly embarrassing to show off that much excitement.

"Since the day you were born, when you looked at me with those beautiful green eyes, I don't think I've seen them so intense." Clara continued and I felt the blush grow even stronger now.

I turned on the radio to distract us both from the sensitive subject.

Drive fast, I can almost taste it now

L.A., I don't even have to fake it now

You were like so sick, everybody said it

You were way ahead of the trend, ge-get it

Elvis is the best, hell yes

Honey, put on that party dress

Like ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-oh

You make me crazy, you make me wild

Just like a baby, spin me 'round like a child

Your skin's so golden brown

Be young, be dope, be proud

Like an American

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh ooh ooh-ooh

Like an American

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh ooh ooh-ooh

The song. It was my favorite, and had been so ever since I played it for Camila the first time. Hearing the lyrics fall from her talented lips was more than enough to put me in a trance. Damn. It hadn't been more than a little over two hours, and I was already missing her. This was going to be excruciating.

After four hours we were finally approaching the assigned apartment. My mom grabbed my bag while I exited the car to examine the area. From the outside, the apartment looked small but with an impressive view of the beach behind.

"I'll just call dad and tell him we've arrived. You know your father, he constantly needs reassurance." Clara shook her head with an amused look.

"Alright." I nodded and walked up to the front door. The door was open, which was strange seeing that they'd sent me a key. Upon entering, my eyes landed on a grey suitcase standing in the corner of the narrow hallway.

I fished the information papers out from my back pocket, looking through them as I heard a gasp that pulled all my attention.

"Jauregui? What the hell are you doing here?"

"What am I doing?" I repeated as I crossed my arms defensively. "What are you doing here?" I asked in disbelief. In front of me, with her jaw dropped and a matching expression of resentment was none other than Sienna Adams.

"Wait, no way." She stated to my confusion and abruptly turned on her heel, tearing one after another door open, nearly pulling them of their hinges. "There's only one bedroom!" She squealed as she reached the last one.

"That's not fucking happening," I stamped to stand next to her, staring into the room she stopped at. I was not sharing bedrooms with the spawn of Satan!

"When did you even get recruited for North Miami Beach?" She hissed and was clearly not pleased with the situation either.

"A week." I scoffed, checking through the papers again.

Outside, we heard a car driving up in the driveway. It had to be the supervisor coming to check upon us.

"Wait here," Sienna ordered with a groan. "And don't bother unpack, you're not staying for long."

And with that, she left the apartment with a slam of a door that was projecting her annoyance pretty clear. Next thing I knew, my mother was entering the house with a paper box in her arms.

"Was that Sienna Adams I just saw exiting?" She asked surprised.

"Yup. Apparently, someone forgot to reveal the roommate I'll be staying with for a year." I sighed and received the heavy box, ignoring Sienna's order as I put in on the bed.

"So how was she?" My mom asked while studying me with worrying eyes. She might not have no known every detail, but she'd had to know that something was going on back then.

"Something tells me she didn't know either." I clucked and tugged at the tape on the box.

"Well, she's talking to the supervisor outside. Perhaps, it will be better if you hear the information together. Saves the man from explaining twice." She told and gave me a hug.

"Tell the others I'll call them when I've unpacked."

"You should. Chris and Taylor were extremely excited to hear from you." My mom smiled. "I'm proud of you Lauren." She released me from the hug with proudness radiating from her eyes.

I watched as she walked out and immediately threw myself at the bed when she was out of sight. This was going to be such a long year.
