It's amazing how fast everything can turn upside down.

Think of how fast a boat capsizes and compare it to my life. I wish I could say that I was undaunted by all of this... this bullcrap, but I need to be straight with you. I am scared as hell. You would be too if you'd gotten that letter and then came home to find you were alone.

I was frightened to be anywhere by myself, but I had no where else to go at the moment. I never knew I could be this scared, especially since I had no damn idea who wrote that note in the first place! Sure, it could be Phil, but there's always a chance that it isn't. And I mean, Phil could play games but they were only mini games. This person has a bigger plan. And a bigger brain. And worse intentions.

I flip on all of the lights on my way through the house, jumping at every noise, cringing at every creak in my step. "Oh, God, help me." I cried silently.

I had to go upstairs at some point, I knew that. But I decided against it. It is dark up there and there is no easy way of escape up there. That is, unless you want to break both of your legs, maybe your entire body jumping out of the window.

So, no, I was keeping my ass glued to this couch and I was going to turn the television volume up to 50 and watch Blackfish until my mind is so lost I will never remember a thing I've ever read in my entire 18 years of living. I was also praying to God that some kind of Paranormal Activity thing wouldn't happen to me.

At least sleep was on my side. I fell into a deep sleep, a sleep that contained no dreams, nor nightmares. But that much needed nap didn't last very long. I awoke to a strange noise.

"Shit." There were light footsteps in the hallway. I rose slowly from the couch praying, again, to God that it wasn't a predator. I also grabbed a baseball bat from the closet and made my way to the... second floor.

I shouldn't be going up here.

My fingers gripped the bat tightly. My breaths came heavy as I crept closer to my brothers room. Completely empty.

I guess my parents room was next. If there was someone in my house I'm not so sure I'd really want to know, despite the fact that I'm searching it right now.

It occurred to me as I looked into my nearly vacant parents room that I'm being cliché. I mean, I'm white and I just heard a noise upstairs. And now I'm checking it out. I might as well call out ''hello'' to see if no one will answer.

But I decided to shut up and check my room quietly. A dark figure was coming through my window. Crap. I had to act, I had a weapon. That had to count for something, right?

Right?

I entered my room, approaching the dark figure. On three I'll swing.

One... Two... Three! "AHHH!" They screamed.

His face shone in the moonlight. I stopped swinging right before I hit Tyde's head.

"What the hell are you going?!" I screamed. "What are you doing?" Tyde asked in return.

"I- I thought you were a predator."

"What? Why?" He said.

I told my brother that I had just watched a horror film and was just uneasy.

"So, why were you coming through the window?" I questioned, genuinely curious.

"The door was locked. Your window is right next to the tree branch, I climbed up it."

God, I swear I just had a heart attack. A massive, massive heart attack.

"Okay, well, mum and dad aren't going to be home for a while. You want take-out?"

"Yeah, sounds good. Thanks." My brother agreed.

We ordered pizza, typically. Pizza, wings, two-liters of Coca-Cola, and bread sticks with marinara sauce. The best dinner any teenager could have. The delivery guy wasn't here yet, but when he arrives I'm going to kiss the fother muckin' ground because he's got my comfort food.

"Pizza dude's got 5 minutes. We ordered around 5:30, it's 5:50." Tyde stated. He was always impatient when he had to wait for food. Luckily, eight minutes later his car pulled up and the doorbell rang. I answered the door before Tyde could start mouthing off to the guy.

"Hi." The delivery boy said.

"Hey, how's it going?" I asked in return.

"Good, thanks. You?" He said. "Your total is $22.50."

We bid each other a good night as he handed me the food.

"Little brother! Food's here, man!" I shouted.

With that, Tyde came running in. He grabbed two slices, a bread stick, and a cup of marinara sauce.

We ate our dinner. Our delicious, delicious dinner. Then my parents came home.

"Hey, mum. Hey, dad." I greeted them. I walked into the kitchen. "There's pizza in here if you want some."

I looked down at the box. At the receipt. I hadn't looked at the receipt.

"When it's your time, you'll know. Your fate will soon be sealed. Should you look me in the eye, you will be paralyzed."

I ripped the paper off of the box as my parents entered the room. My mum walked up and kissed my head. "Hey, honey. How's school been going?"

"It has been good, for once, mum. I'm doing better." I looked down. I didn't think it was the right time to tell her I was in danger... again.

"Really?" She asked. I nodded in return. "So your grades, they're good?"

"Oh, they're great. No need to worry." I promised.

"You're sure, Troye?"

"I'm not so sure anymore.." I spoke.

My mum looked at me with a knowing face.

"Report cards just came in, sweetie."

My eyes widened a bit. I had no clue how I was doing in school.

"You're close to honor roll." She said.

I breathed a sigh of relief. One less thing to worry about.

My mother dismissed me and I went upstairs to my room and turned my laptop on and played some music. I needed sound to keep me some company.

What else did I need? I know that I have to find out who is leaving those notes.

Let's see. Both of the notes warned me about an oncoming storm, but they also left no name. And they were put in the most random places. That's all I knew.

I suspected two people at this point: Phil and someone working at the pizza place. I needed to investigate more because it could be anybody. It could be any mentally unstable person.

My mind was sifting through the information I'd acquired so far when Tyler called me.

"Hello."

Tyler: "Hey, Troye. How's it going?"

"Great. You?"

Tyler: "I'm good. Listen, I was wondering if you wanted to go for a quick ride?"

"Sorry, I can't. I've got a lot of shit to figure out. Sorry, man."

Tyler: "Oh, that's alright."

"What about tomorrow?"

Tyler: "Okay, sounds good."

I could tell he was smiling when he said that. As much as I wanted to see him I didn't think it was safe enough for me out there. Not yet.

Alright, so that was chapter 12. Hope it was good.

Sidenote: How I imagined the pizza delivery guy. (In sidebar)
