CHAPTER SIXTEEN.
"Guess who's going to be legal"
The next day Marley woke up to Gina and Flo walking her up wishing her a happy birthday and telling her to get dressed for a special breakfast. Marley woke up and got dressed in a red crop top and black skater skirt and white trainers.
She went downstairs to see Dakota, Drew and James.
"Morning," she said to them smiling and they smiled back. Flo, Gina, James, Aaron, Marley, Dakota and Drew all had Marley's favourite breakfast while everyone had mini conversation with each other.
They were going to give Marley her birthday presents after breakfast but Marley said she'll prefer it if she got them after everyone arrived.
After breakfast Marley invited Drew and Dakota up to her room.
"Marley, I just want to apologise for how I was acting the other night. I was just angry for leaving Detroit, I left my friends behind and my girlfriend and I broke up. I was just upset," Dakota apologised while sitting cross legged on Marley's bedroom floor flipping through her photo album.
"It's fine Dakota, I hope you start to like Riverdale," Marley said smiling.
"Why didn't you guys comes to the art sale yesterday? All of Riverdale came you could have made friends," Marley asked them changing the subject.
"Dad had the shits." Dakota said laughing and Marley giggled.
"And speaking of Riverdale." Drew began while looking at some of the things Marley had around her room.
"How do they treat gay people? Is it frowned upon or is everyone here open minded?" Drew asked Marley.
"Riverdale is very open minded, homophobia shouldn't be the first thing you need to worry about in this town. My best friend is gay." Marley shrugged before taking out her phone and going on twitter.
"That's good then." Drew said whole sitting down on Marley's bed.
"Why do you ask? Are you gay?" Marley asked him unbothered.
"Yeah, but only my dad and Kota know and you now." Drew explained and Marley nodded.
"So both of you are gay?" Marley asked the twins. Dakota shook her head.
"Not necessarily gay. I classify myself as Pansexual." Dakota explained and Marley nodded her head in understanding.
The three of them just chilled in Marley's room until it was time to help set up for Marley's party.
Aaron and James went out to collect fire wood for the bonfire Marley is going to have in her garden. Flo was in the kitchen making Marley a gluten free cake and Gina went to the store to buy Marley a cake knowing that Flo's cake will probably give everyone food poisoning. So Drew, Dakota and Marley were in charge of setting up the pretty large tent.
Shortly Aaron and James came back and started the bonfire and Marley and the twins helped set out chairs around the bonfire. After setting up the door bell rang. Marley went to answer the door and saw Kevin, Veronica and Archie they all had their overnight bags and presents in their hands.
"Happy birthday Marley!" They all said in unison and Marley smiled.
"Thanks guys come in." Marley said letting them in and leading them into the garden where Aaron had started a BBQ.
Marley called the twins over so she can introduce them to her friends.
"Kevin, Veronica and Archie, this is Drew and Dakota Carter." Marley said introducing them before the doorbell went off and Marley went to open it.
Marley opened the door to see Jughead and Betty. Marley smiled a real genuine smile before pulling her best friends into a hug.
"Happy birthday" Betty said letting herself into the house and walking into the garden.
"Happy birthday Ro" Jughead said pulling her into another hug. Marley smiled and walked into the garden with Jughead trailing behind her.
Marley already noticed that Betty had already introduced herself to Drew and Dakota and smiled before dragging Jughead over to the twins.
"Drew, Dakota, this is Jughead, Jughead this is Drew and Dakota" Marley said introducing them. Before Marley could spark up conversation the door bell rang again. Marley went to answer it and when she opened the door she saw Josie, Valarie, Melody and Cheryl.
"Hey guys, make your way into the garden." Marley said letting them in. All of them sat around the fire while eating the food Aaron made on BBQ. After a few hours Gina thought I would be a good idea to open gifts.
"Okay Kevin and I first. We went half on a present for you." Veronica said and Marley smiled. Kevin handed her a box that was kind of heavy and Marley unwrapped the box and gasped.
They had got her a lime green vinyl player.
"When we were in your room we saw that you collected vinyls so we got you something you can use." Veronica said smiling.
"Thanks guys I love it." Marley said smiling at them.
"Okay I'm next" Cheryl said surprisingly handing Marley a gift bag. Marley raised an eyebrow at her but opened the gift nevertheless. Marley pulled out a wooden box with words engraved on the top.
"Oh my God Cheryl. You got me Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Paints?! I can't accept this, it's too expensive take it back." Marley said to her handing her the box.
"Marley please, just take it. I lost the receipt anyway." Cheryl shrugged.
"Thank you Cheryl." Marley said grateful and Cheryl just shrugged.
"I'll go next." Betty said raising her hand and Marley just nodded. She passed Marley a gift bag.
Marley opened it and pulled out a vintage Polaroid camera.
"Thank you so much Betty, I've always wanted one of these. Where did you get it from?"Marley asked her.
"Online," Betty shrugged before smiling at Marley.
Marley the opened Josie and the pussycats presents which they had bought collectively, from them she had got a breakfast club movie poster, and some vinyls and a Frida Kahlo art book.
She then opened Flo and Aaron presents and from them she got a new laptop and a mini storm trouper model. After thanking them a hundred times. Marley opened the gift from her aunt which were two envelopes.
Marley opened the envelope and pulled out two tickets.
"Two tickets to England?" Marley announced and Jughead looked up at her drink to take in Marley's facial expression worried that she might actually leave him in Riverdale.
"I got them for you if you ever want to go back to England to visit anyone, like your friends, Gabriel and Jordan." Gina explained. Jughead was still very confused as to why Gina would get Marley tickets.
"Thanks." Marley said before opening the other envelope. She flicked through the papers quickly reading them while everyone watched wondering what they are.
"Aunt G.... these are adoption and citizenship forms..." Marley began her eyes welling up with tears.
"Yeah well, technically, you are an illegal immigrant, and I was wondering if you wanted to actually become my legal child." Gina said also welling up.
"I would love to." Marley said getting up and hugging her aunt tightly.
"Guess who's going to be legal" Marley said to the group after pulling away from her aunt and everyone laughed.
"Okay I'm next," Jughead said and Marley nodded.
"It's no ticket to England, or Oil paints or a vintage camera but I really hope you like it." Jughead said handing her the gift bag.
Marley pulled out the gift from the bag and her jaw dropped. It was the all black notebook she was looking at the art shop but it was engraved in gold. 'To M.R.D. From F.P.J.III.'
"Oh my god, Jughead I love it. Thank you so much." Marley said pulling him into a hug.
"Okay Me, Drew and my dad got you something we think you will love." Dakota said and as if on cue Drew appeared with a massive box and put it on the grass in front Marley.
Marley raised an eyebrow at the abnormally large box and opened it and gasped. She reached into the box and pulled out a small husky puppy. It had all white fur and blue eyes and it licked her face happily.
"You got her a puppy?!" Gina yelled at James slightly hitting him on the arm.
"You told me she asked for one and our dog gave birth." James said raising his hands up in surrender laughing lightly.
Everyone had crowded around Marley stroking the puppy she had in her arms.
"Thank you so much James, Kota and Drew, I love it." Marley said thanking them.
"So what are you going to name him?" Valarie asked sitting back down on her chair next to Archie.
"I don't know." Marley said feeding the dog some hotdogs that she left on her plate.
"Name him Chewie?" Jughead said from the seat next to Marley. Marley looked at Jughead then looked back at the puppy.
"You know, since you love Star Wars name him after Chewbacca? Chewie for short." Jughead explained and Marley smiled while stroking the dog.
"I like that." Marley said smiling at Jughead before turning to play with the puppy. "Hey Chewie," Marley cooed at the puppy while feeding him some more hotdogs.
They spent the rest of the night by the campfire, listening to music and enjoying themselves.
