Georgia Institute of Technology studied the frog's sticky soft tongue and discovered that the reversible saliva plus a soft tongue, which is ten times softer than a human's tongue, are the ingredients for stickiness.

In the process of catching prey, the frog's saliva becomes thick and sticky then turns thin and watery when prey is being consumed. Its adhesion fascinated engineers and inspired them to mimic it because a frog's tongue can attach and reattach with soft, special properties that are extremely stickier than synthetic polymer materials, such as sticky-hand toys. This discovery might help engineers improve the vicious, elasticity, and stickiness of the Band-Aid or create new soft materials or a new kind of duct tape to silence your uncontrollable nagging partner's mouth.
