LUKE POV

It was hard for someone to be nice while secretly protecting them? Try it was hard to protect someone in general, without the added pressure of anger. Or maybe even it was hard to not kill your sister as she stood in front of you and made up excuses. Emily was standing alongside a male whom I recognized the scent of as the one she had so blatantly refused in the clearing. He was holding himself tense, acutely aware of any movement made in the room. It was obvious that they were mates.

"Emily Sophia Marie. What on God's green earth do you think that you are doing?" The small, grey haired ball of fire burst forth from the crowded pack. Lily paused about two feet away from the other pack, her small fists planted firmly on her wirey hips, and I could only imagine the look of disappointment that was on her face. Her eyes would be narrowed, face pinched together, making her pale lips thin out into a string like line. Oh, this was going to be good.

"But Aunt Lily-"

"I cannot believe that you would do this to your own family. Family! Emily, how could you? I thought I raised you better than this. I thought you were someone people could look up to, but apparently all people look up at you for is how to betray your pack. You are in a lot of trouble, missy-"

"Aunt Lily-!" Emily whined, but Aunt Lily was on a rampage.

"-I can't believe I stood up for you! I will not stand in Luke's way when he decides the punishment for you. I cannot expect him to go easy on you, even if you are family. Hell, that just makes it ten times worse!" Even I flinched back into my mate when Aunt Lily swore. A curse word leaving her mouth was a rarity, and meant that she was, without a doubt, supremely pissed off. Murmuring began in the pack as people watched the scene. There were whispers about whether or not I would punish my sister, and mumbling about how low Emily must be to betray her own brother like that. Mixed together, the many combined voices were an uproar. I could not even make out Lily's voice over the pack when using my wolf hearing.

The voices were so quiet alone, the whispers and mumbling almost so silent, yet when combined, they moved like lightening, deafening everyone in the room. And for once, I stood there, unsure what to do. Everyone was looking at me, waiting for my call of silence, of order, of anything. But I couldn't make my mouth move. I just stood there silently, staring at my sister with my shock finaly appearing. What was I going to do with her?

ALY POV

You know, when the voices began to run about the room, I could see the eys trained on Luke, waiting for the command to be quiet. The pack members were tense, expecting an uproar from their Alpha at any moment, but the only uproar they were getting was one of their own creation.

The were like kindergarten children! I forced myself to bite back a smile at that thought. Little kindergarteners who were lying on their little mats at nap time, and whispering amoungst eachother as they waited for their teacher to tell them to be silent. The pack actually fit that description perfectly; except, well, they were kind of big to be five years old. And their words were sort of sophisticated for that age. Their clothes weren't much to look at for a kindergartener either.

Hmm.

I suppose they really couldn't pass as five year olds in the real world.

Plus, Luke wasn't much of a teacher.

I guess that's not fair, I mean, he taught young pups how to fight, and how to shift.

That's not really something a teacher would teach a five year old to do though. Kind of the opposite of the whole point of kindergarten.

The 'learning not to punch the other kid because he stole your cupcake' point.

But right now, Luke was standing there, tense, and silent. He wasn't even looking around the room! His eyes were fixed on his sister, and showed a world of pain in their depths.

I sighed deeply.

I guess I get to save him again!

Do you remember when I said that curiousity was bad for my health? No? Well, it was around the time when I jumped into a pool to save a wanna-be murder victim. Curiousity is bad. Very, very, bad. I thought I may have outgrown that tendency, the very same one that almost landed me, well, dead. That was a pretty dumb thought though, I figured, because my curiousity was about to land me in a whole world of shit.

"SHUT THE HELL UP AND SIT YOUR ASSES DOWN!" I screeched, throwing my hands up into the air. It was almost comical when the room went dead silent in seconds. Almost like when I screamed at the kids in the middle of the play on preformance night because they were- Oh, right, the pack. I snapped back to attention to stare around the room at the wide eyed glances being thrown my way from both packs. Both packs that were still standing. "I SAID SIT!" I shouted. The echoing thumps around the room shook the house. It was like a mini earthquake! People dropped like flies, and obediantly sat cross legged on the hard wood flooring. Well, I sniffed, that was pretty easy. Why couldn't that of worked at home? I would've loved to see my parents drop on their asses when I commanded it. I would've taken pictures.

"Er- Ally? Did you have something to say?" Luke asked, turning to face me with one eyebrow cocked.

"What? Oh, yeah, right," I shook the thoughts of potential parent embarassment out of my head, and looked at my mate. "I couldn't hear Emily speak." With that, I turned and planted my rump firmly on an open floor space and looked up at her shocked face expectantly. "Well?"

"Oh- um, okay, er..." Emily stuttered, blinking a few times in shock. Luke slowly moved to sit beside me, placing one protective arm around my waist. "Well..."

"I saved you again," I stated, watching as Emily stammered around to the right words. Luke turned his head, his curious gaze burning into the side of my face. "I saved you. Again. From your pack going completely haywire." I turned to glance at him with narrowed eyes. "That's the second time I've saved you. Please stop making a habit out of it, it's really not that fun." I turned back to face Emily as she began to speak.

"I- It would be best if I could speak to you privately," she murmured, looking around the room in hesitation. Luke growled at her.

"Everyone in this room is someone that I trust," he snarled, tightening his grip on my waist. "So get on with it."

"But I-"

"Emily," I murmured, shaking my head. "Please just speak, we have already looked in to each person in this room. It's safe. Unless you don't trust your pack?" She blinked and shook her head. "Then please continue."

"Okay. Where do I start? Um.."

"I suggest the beginning," Claire bit out, from her place on the floor a few feet away. Emily dropped her head.

"Sure," she murmured. "This is the Florinas Pack, from up north. They agreed to help me out after I found my- Well, that really doesn't matter. The point is, they agreed to help me out to protect this pack. I know they aren't as large of a pack as this one, obviously, but they are also the least expected pack to be protecting a large one. When rogues view this pack, they break it down into the little sub groups, and target them. They expect each of these packs to be the only ones they need to worry about, because no pack as large as yours would have a need for extra protection." Emily sighed and straightened her shoulders. "Our pack is the target of a large group of rogues. The largest every on record. They make Michael look like a spec of dirt compared to the stuff they have done. Those packs that are mysteriously being slaughtered? That's them. And they aren't working alone."

"The rogues are working with the hunters." At this, the other man, the other Alpha, stepped forward. He waited for the gasps of our pack to quiet down before he continued. "They are partners in planning on wiping us out. The hunters want us gone, and the rogues are willing to help. But before they go for the pack as a whole, they want to go for the Alpha. Take down the Alpha, and the pack is theirs." The other Alpha turned and locked eyes with Luke. "I'm sure you know the quickest route to destroying an Alpha."

Luke snarled and lurched forward, just barely making it up before John slammed him back down.

"Sit Luke, they mean no harm." Luke shot him a filthy look, but conceeded with a warning growl in the other Alpha's direction.

"There is a traitor among you," another wolf continued, moving to discretely stand closer to Emily. Her mate, I decided. "And no, it's not Emily. The only thing she is guilty of is taking on a task to large for her shoulders."

"Shut up Harry," Emily hissed, moving away from him. "Alpha Mark is right. I've seen their plans myself because, well, I'm their informant." She gulped when wolves around the room began to snarl and move forwards. I am guessing that betraying your pack is a very bad thing. I'm going to have to keep that in mind.

"My name is Jack," the boy huffed, as the Alpha continued.

"She's more like a double agent," Alpha Mark corrected, moving forward to place a hand on her shoulder. I watched Jack tense and shift his gaze away with a little bit of difficulty, withholding a snarl. Hmm, wonder what's happening there. "Emily has been acting as the informant for the rogues, and reporting all of the information of their attacks back to us, so we could prevent them from occuring. She never had any reason to act differently towards Ally until lately." Mark shifted his gaze to me.

"How long has this been going on?" Luke demanded, moving to stand up. This time, John let him, and stood at his flank.

"A few weeks, two monthes at the most."

"What changed their attack strategy?" Again, Mark's gaze landed on me.

"The Alpha found his mate." Luke tensed and sidled closer to me. "And their plans changed."

"There is one other informant in this house," Emily repeated, "Except this one is real, and I don't even know who they are. Whoever is was though, was getting suspicious because of how close I was with Ally, and was reporting it back to the rogues. The rogues began to demand that I get closer to her, so they could use me to get to her; they would be watching as I did so. I couldn't exactly fail at that task, or they would know something was up. I couldn't tell you Luke, because than they would realize that someone was reporting to you, and their tactics would change once you began to predict their every move. I had to get other help, so, I went to Mark."

"She really had no choice in the matter. If she continued to be friends with Ally, than they would use her to get closer to Ally, and she would be forced to do it. Some of their plans were a little... dangerous, to say the least. Emily first tried to seperate Ally and Luke so that it would buy them some time. She never expected the rogues to use their fighting to their advantage. Than when that didn't work, she tried to make it look like she had messed up so that the rogues couldn't use her as a direct path to Ally."

I'm pretty sure my mouth was wide open at this point, and my eyes rivalled the size of dinner plates. I believed them, for some strange reason. I just kept thinking back to how Emily was my first friend in the house, and I couldn't picture her truly evil. But she could still be playing all of us.

One thing was for sure. We were in for one hell of a ride.
