Elizabeth's POV

It was silent as we rode the train. It was still dark outside and on the train were only a few people. I looked at Blake who had his head in his hands. I wanted to comfort him and tell him that everything is going to be alright.

But I can't say something that might not be even true.

After we played with those fireworks, we went to our rooms and packed everything for the trip back. In the middle of the night, Blake got a phone call from his mother. It was about his father.

He immediately insisted to go back now so I told the others that we both are going ahead.

They didn't knew anything about his father but they already could guess. Everyone are worried about him.

Now we are here sitting in an almost empty train while riding for another 1 and a half hour.

Seeing Blake like this makes me sad. We had so much fun in the beach and now he get to know this...I really wish I could do something...

*****

We arrived back in Florida and the sun was slowly showing. We went straight to the hospital.

Blake didn't even said a word to me yet. I don't blame him at all but it hurts...

We went to a room which name tag beside the door said 'Jackson Anderson'. We slowly opened it and Blake was the first one who went in followed by me.

My eyes immediately landed on the man on the bed sleeping. His body was connected to some machines...it kinda remember me of my time in hospital.

Beside the bed I saw Sandra, Blake's mom, holding her husbands hand. Her head snapped to us and I saw tears streaming out of her eyes. Emily was silently asleep on the couch but I could see that even she cried.

Sandra run up to Blake hugging while she cried on his shoulder.

Blake was shaking telling me that he was also crying.
I felt out of place so I decided to let them some time for themselves. I went out and decided to give a visit to Dr. Reyenes. As far as I know she should be working right now.

I knocked at her door and I heard a faint 'come in'. I went in and saw her sitting on her table. She looked at me rather in surprise.

"Elizabeth, I thought you were only coming tomorrow?" she asked.

"A problem came up so I came back earlier with someone. I thought I should come and visit." I said.

"That's nice of you. How have you been?" she asked.

I sighed.

"To be honest...not so good. I've been getting attacks in the night and I getting tired rather earlier than before. The pain I get is getting stronger everytime I get it and the medicine doesn't help that much anymore..." I said and looked at my fingers.

"I understand. Please take off your top first. I need to check you now." she said.

I nodded and started to undress.

Like always, she did every check on me. As she saw my results she sighed heavily.

"I have to call your parents, Elizabeth. They need to know about this." she said a bit sad.

I didn't question and only nodded.

"Please excuse me for a moment. I have to speak with someone." I said before I left the room and went back to Blake.

He was now sitting on the other side of the bed while watching his dad.

"Hey." he said.

"Hey. How are you feeling?" I asked concerned.

He only shook his head and looked back at his dad.

"My mother told me that his condition suddenly got worsened. They don't know if they can start an OP without knowing his exact condition..." he trailed off.

"Where is Sandra?" I asked.

"She took Emily and went home. She will come back in a few hours." he explained.

I looked at Mr. Anderson. He sure looked pale.

"I'm coming back in a few minutes. I need a coffee. You want too." I shook my head as he left the room letting me alone with him.

I sat down on the chair where Blake sat a few second and looked at Mr. Anderson.

"Hello, Mr. Anderson." I began to speak. "I don't know if you still remember me but it's me, Elizabeth. It's been really a long time. I'm sorry for not visiting until now in such a situation. I deeply hope that you will get better soon because Sandra and Emily as well as Blake needs you by their side. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that." I said.

I wanted to speak again when the door suddenly opened and Blake coming in with a cup of coffee. I stood and went to him.

I gave him a hug and kissed him on lips lightly.

"I have to go now. My parents called telling me to go home." I lied.

He only nodded and went to his seat. I sighed and took my bag before I left.

*****

"Thanks for coming again, Elizabeth." Dr. Reyenes said politely.

I sat down on one of the chairs in her office while my parents stood behind me with Jake.

"The reason I called you here is because of Elizabeth's condition. It seems that the medicine she is currently taking has no affect anymore." she explained.

"What do you mean 'no affect'? You told us that this medicine was the only thing that could safe her for now!" my dad yelled frustrated.

My mom calmed him down by wrapping her arms around his arm.

"Yes, I did but we never thought that her body will get used to it any soon or even never. But there is another problem." she sighed.

We waited for her to speak again.

"Her heart isn't beating normal anymore. In other words, if she starts to get an attack again, her heart will try and beat even faster than normal and she might start coughing really bad because her body tries to get oxygen into her system. She might look fine on the outside but she is not in the inside." she explained further more.

"I don't really understand the concept." My mom said.

"You surely know the feeling off running and than patting afterwards, right? Your heart rate is getting higher and higher until it reaches its limit which is not dangerous.
In her case her heart is already beating that fast even though she isn't even doing anything beside of laying in the bed or so. So if she runs or do some really tiring work then her heart starts to beat even more faster than now and some time later it will beat uneven because it will get tired soon after beating so much."

"So that's like having asthma?" Jake asked this time.

"Something like that but it's not the lunges, it's the heart. You can cure asthma with the medication but it's not the same as with the heart." she said sadly.

I stared at her blankly. I didn't know how I should react or feel about the whole situation.

"What does that mean for our baby girl?" my dad asked.

I could hear in his voice how hurt he was hearing this happening to his child but can you blame him? I would also react like this if I knew that my child will die soon.

"We are still looking for a person for you but unfortunately we haven't found anyone yet.
The medicine has no affect on you anymore so you can't take it anymore. Try not to move too much. Every move you make could lead to exhausting to your body which leads to coughing.
And I will give you one of those oxygen bottles. Everytime you get an attack you have to wear the mask for at least 1 hour. It gives you extra oxygen so that you heart doesn't need to work too much." she said and gave my father one.

I only nodded unable to say anything at all. I didn't know anything anymore. I only wanted to lay in my bed and cry my heart out.

"Elizabeth." I heard Dr. Reyenes calling pulling me out of my trance.

"I know it's hard to accept it but we will do everything to find a way to heal you. Anyway, I would like you to stay in the hospital." she suddenly said.

My eyes widened.

"No! I can't stay! I mean I still have school!" I said in panic.

"I know, but your condition might get worse. I don't want to take that risk."

"...How long do I need to stay here...?" I asked scared for the answer.

She sighed.

"I honestly don't know. Maybe a few weeks or months. It depends on your health." she said.

I went silent. I didn't argue because I know it will be useless. However, I still need some time.

"Please give me three weeks before I have to stay here. I still need something to do." I explained.

She looked at me worried but still nodded.

"Three weeks and no more." she said and I nodded.
