Afina and Raphael were close to the institute when Raphael started struggling at bit "are you ok?" Afina asked
"It's holy ground, I'm basically not allowed close to a church or anywhere with meaning" Raphael explained and they continued walking until her team ran out ready to attack but then stopped seeing what was in front of them
Clary ran in front of them but stopped immediately tearing up when she saw an exhausted Raphael holding her dead best friend "oh my god" Clary whispered
Raphael carried Simon inside after a lot of convincing from Clary and Afina. They took him to the institutes basement and they laid him down on a table with a book under his head
Raphael moved so Clary could get closer to Simon and he walked over to Afina putting an arm around her to comfort her
"People will be wondering what we found outside the perimeter" Jace said looking at Alec.
"I'll go, I'll tell them we didn't find anything nobody will come down here" Alec said before going upstairs
"I might be a vampire but I was raised a good catholic" Raphael said before Izzy started speaking
"The vampires breached the accords killing Simon calls for war" she said looking down at him.
"The vampires were not behind this just Camille she attacked Simon on her own" Raphael said defending his own
"How do we know your telling the truth?" Jace asked and Afina spoke up
"He is, I was there when Camille fed him her blood. She wanted this to happen, I tried to stop Simon from going but I couldn't he was faster then me" Afina explained
"I don't want trouble with the shadowhunters" Raphael said
"Smart decision" Izzy sneered and Afina glared at her sister
"I warned the mundane to stay away but Camille gave him a taste of her own blood and like an addict he came back for more" Raphael said
"The only reason Simon ever tasted Camilles blood was because of you" Clary said tears in her eyes
"Don't pin this on him Clary" Afina said lowly
"So your on his side?" Clary spat in disgust and Afina had enough
"Yes I am Clary, I'm also on my teams side and Simons. He didn't have to bring Simon here but he did! And why do you care his so called 'best friend' always ditched him for Jace always hung up on him that is if you actually answered so don't you dare blame him for this! If you were there for him then maybe he wouldn't of even gone to the hotel and he'd still be alive! But no I was with him and I just found out he's my brother! We get it Clary you want to find your mom but you got him killed in the process" Afina yelled
"Hey!" Jace yelled at her
"Don't even get me started with you Jace I have a lot to say and I'm positive you don't want to hear it" Afina said and Raphael pulled her back a little to calm her down
"He kidnapped him Afina! He drugged him! He delivered him to Camille!" Clary yelled at Afina but also trying to make her point with Raphael
"I didn't mean for this to happen" Raphael said and Afina turned him so she could hug him. When they pulled apart Raphael brought Afina to a bench and they both sat down before he started speaking again "there is a way"
"A way what?" Jace asked
"A way to bring Simon back" Raphael said giving Jace a look
"You can do that?" At this Raphael turned his head towards Clary "how? How?!"
"He's a fledgling, it's a state of transition. Your friend can be resurrected" Raphael told her
"No." Jace stated
"Clary no" Izzy said
"So I could have Simon back?" Clary asked and Raphael nodded his head slightly "alive and breathing?"
"That's just if he won't come back alive or breathing. He'll be a vampire" Izzy explained
"And not the romantic kind, the ugly blood sucking coffin dwelling kind" Jace said looking at Raphael in disgust
Afina glared at him harshly and was about to speak when Raphael beat her to it "that's offensive"
"Really?" Jace asked sarcastically
Raphael leaned back and put his arm around Afina again "coffin implies wooden box we have caskets now they're made of fourteen caret gold" he replied with the same amount of sarcasm as Jace
"My bad" Jace said not meaning it and Raphael looks out the window
"It's almost sunrise Simon must be turned into a vampire tonight or stacked through the heart" Raphael said standing up
"And if I do neither?" Clary asked
"His soul will be trapped for eternity, you have till sunset to decide clock is ticking" Raphael said before he went and sat in the dark corner so the sun wouldn't get him Afina scooted over next to him and he took her hand in his before looking up at Clary remorse written into his features
"I'm so sorry I wasn't there" she apologized putting her hand on his head "this is all my fault"
"Clary this isn't your fault" Jace tried to reassure her
"No it is" she said looking at Jace but Afina was only looking at Simon wondering if that would happen to her and what the choice would be if she was killed, she still had Camilles blood in her system but she didn't have a strong urge to find her but Simon did and that was probably because he was a full Mundane
Afina was looking at him so much she didn't see Raphael looking at her with unexplainable emotions
"He wouldn't be dead" Clary said finishing off her speech that Afina was listening to
"Fledgling he's in transition" Raphael said slightly annoyed
"And now I am left with two horrible choices and I can't figure out which one is worse. If I bury Simon what are the risks?" Clary asked Raphael
"Clary no" Jace said before Clary cut him off
"Jace I need to know" she said and he sighed
"If Simon is buried and he doesn't emerge he'll be trapped under the earth starving for eternity" he said and Clary's eyes widened at the information
"Oh my god" she said before leaning on the table "and if I stake him?"
"He'll die a Mundane death, it's painless as far as I know" he said putting his arm over Afina
"Simon I'm so sorry" Clary said trying not to cry before she turned to Jace "I need to tell his mom"
"No Clary" Jace warned
"She needs to know, I'm telling her with or without you" she said before walking upstairs and Jace giving a heavy sigh before following her
"Don't you want to go with them?" Raphael asked
"No way, every time I'm with them they leave me out in some way" Afina said making Raphael chuckle slightly before he became serious
"I'm sorry about Simon, really. You shouldn't have to go through this" Raphael said taking her hand
"What would happen to me if I died and you had to deal with those choices, what would you do?" Afina asked
"I don't know, but that's not gonna happen" Raphael looked at Afina to see her looking at him "Afina what are you not telling me?"
"Nothing, I'm fine" she smiled but he didn't buy it
"Afina, did Camille feed you her blood?" Raphael asked dead serious and she nodded slightly and Raphael stood up looking at her
"I'm sorry" she whispered
"For what? I'm not mad at you I'm made at her!" He said frustration clear in his voice before he turned and looked at Simon before his feelings got the best of him and he turned towards Afina standing her up and hugging her tightly
"To answer your question, I don't know what I'd do. I'd rather die again then do that to you, I don't want to stake you and I wouldn't want to bury you and make you a vampire like me because you wouldn't deserve to live a crappy life like that" Raphael said
"Raphael, if I do die I want you to bring me back as a vampire" she said and he was about to argue "promise me" she demanded
"I promise" he sighed before pulling her closer and kissing the top of her head after that Raphael and Afina sat back down with Afina's head on his shoulder as they waited for Clary and Jace to get back
When they did Clary walked back over to Simon and Raphael stood up "it's almost sunset. What did you decide?" Raphael asked
Clary struggled with her words a bit before she finally told them and that is why the four of them were walking to the graveyard. Raphael carrying a shovel and a bag of blood as Jace carried Simon and Afina and Clary stood next to each other. They might not like each other but they were feeling the same kind of thing
When they found a spot Raphael was about to start digging when Camille showed up and Jace held his seraph blade out with Clary standing in front of Simon and Raphael pulling Afina slightly closer to him
"What do you want?" Clary demanded
"I want my property back, I want both of them back actually" she said glancing at Afina before Raphael stepped in front of her
"Simon is not your property" Clary said
"If you'll just hand them over I'll be on my way" she said looking at Clary then Raphael who was glaring at her
"You heard Clary you're not laying a hand on him" Jace said
"Or her" Raphael said
"Fine I tried to do this the nice way" with that she snapped her fingers and a crowd of vampires showed up in a second
"I'm glad you brought everyone here to witness your demise. Camille killed this Mundane and I have all the proof. She's been breaking the accords for to long now. He's the evidence we need to show the clave what Camille has been doing" Raphael said making Camille laugh
"Are you trying to over throw me?" She asked
"No, I already have" he said and the vampires started circling around Camille
"Don't listen to him, he's delusional. He just wants to protect his little girlfriend over there. He doesn't even know the first thing about leading. You need me, I've given you everything you could want all the riches all the pleasures you could desire" she said trying to win the vampires back
"By breaking the law, which will only destroy us" he said through gritted teeth
"We can fix this, if we just get rid of the body. This Mundane means nothing" she said motioning towards Simon
Clary scoffed before walking up to Camille "means nothing? Over my dead body" she said before punching Camille in the face making Afina smile
Clary started walking back over to Simons body as the vampires closed in on Camille.
Clary started digging a hole then she kneeled next to Simon before they put him in the hole and She started covering him with the dirt before it became to much and Jace hugged her before he started covering Simon with dirt
Raphael hugged Clary slightly trying to make her feel better before he turned to Afina who had tears in her eyes and he hugged her stroking her hair as she watched her brother get buried
They all waited by the grave for some sort of sign that Simon would come back.
Raphael left Jace and Clary so he could keep watch by a nearby tree and Afina walked over to him "you ok?" She asked
"It's your brother that was buried" he said and Afina looked down "I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that. I'm just frustrated"
"With what?" She asked
"You. You confuse me and I didn't know how I felt about you. But I think I know now" he said
"And how do you feel about me?" She asked. Raphael was about to answer when they heard rumbling and walked over to the grave
"It's happening" Raphael said as they watched Simon crawl out of the ground. Raphael grabbed a few blood bags throwing them at Simon who drank them within seconds before realizing what he had done
"Clary what's happening?" He asked
"You uh you died" she said
"I what? What's this, that's blood!" He jumped back feeling his teeth for his fangs "oh my, why can't I say"
"God. It'll take you time to regain the ability. There's a lot you'll need to learn" Raphael said calmly and Clary looked at Simon
"Oh my damn it!" He shouted hitting the ground "am I a vampire?" He asked and Clary nodded "tell me this isn't happening please tell me this isn't happening"
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm so sorry" Clary said feeling bad about what she had done
"I'm repulsive!" He shouted
"Please don't say that" Clary begged
"You're not repulsive Simon!" Afina said to her brother
"You're still the same Simon that I've known my whole life" Clary said
"No Clary I'm not" he shouted
"Yes you are! You are still the same! You are my best friend!" She shouted back
"I'm nothing more then a monster" he said and stood up when Clary was about to talk "stay away" with that he ran away
"I'll look after Simon, you have my word" Raphael said before giving Afina a quick kiss on the head then speeding after Simon
"What have I done?" Clary asked
