Don pauses his steps and backtracks, standing in front of the mirror, with slight hesitation he turns to look himself fully in the mirror, his eyes going straight to the ragged criss-cross scars littering his chest, he sighs quietly and lightly runs his fingers over one of them before pulling his fingers away abruptly, feeling the ragged, rough skin. He shakes his head and moves towards the closet, pulling out a shirt and pulling it on.
You had walked into the bedroom to grab your phone and you had seen Don looking at the scars that littered his chest from the bomb. You knew that Don hated the scars, he wouldn't show them to you and he certainly wouldn't let you touch his chest let alone his scars. "Don," You say lightly as you move closer to him, he pauses putting on his shirt to look at you "Hey," he replies and you smile softly and move closer to him, lightly cupping his cheek with your right hand, whilst you placed your left hand onto his chest and onto the rough skin of his scar. You could feel him tense up under your hands and you sighed gently. "Oh Don," you say lightly, leaning up to brush your lips against his own, "You have nothing to be ashamed of," you tell him "they are a reminder that you survived what happened," you tell him and brush your thumb over the scar and his eyes close.
"I know. I know this beautiful, but I can't deal with how they look," he admits, his eyes downcast, not meeting yours and you give him a gentle look, "Oh sweetheart," you say to him, "You might not like it, but I do, they remind me to be thankful that I still have you in my life," you tell him and he allows his gaze to meet yours and you smile, his hand moving to cover yours, over his scars. "Thanks sweetheart," he says softly. "I might never be totally okay with them, but I know you will always make me feel better," he says and you smile up at him, "Of course," you agree, happily kissing back when he kisses you.
The hand that was on his cheek, moves up to his hair and gently tangles into his hair and you happily kiss him. Your other hand was still resting over the scars. Your thumb gently brushed over his chest and over his scars and you slowly pull back as you look up at him. "I love you," you tell him, making him smile and press a quick kiss to your lips. "As i love you" he says.
