Done with diary entry for the day, I took a breather and rolled on my back on the bed. I picked up the diary and held it above my eyes to read it. And then I laughed, rolling my eyes at my own silliness. I was being completely ridiculous. I'd written about five pages and he was everywhere. It was embarrassing. But I felt that I needed to write about him because, ever since I saw him, he'd been stuck on my mind like something about him had stamped the very thought of him on my forehead. I needed to let it out. Now I feel relieved.

Three days had passed since I saw him but, my mind didn't seem to have any idea about the art of stop-the-fuck-thinking-about-him. I kept on seeing the distant, fleeting image of him in my eyes like a scene from a movie, playing over and over in my head. The more I tried to stop thinking about him, the harder it became. It was exhausting. It felt as impossible as trying to stop falling when you're already flying through the air. Freefall. There was no one pushing me, no one asking me to jump, but there was definitely something pulling me down.

There is no reason why, no answer where; yet I kept falling.

My roommate, Vanessa, darts inside with her face flushed red in excitement. I sit up on my bed to watch her hustle about the room. She soon got busy rummaging through her closet, her ass facing me, throwing out one cloth after the other.

"This is shit," she curses and stands up. Then she turns to look at me. "I don't know."

"What's going on?" I asked her.

She questioned me back, "Lola, have you been out lately?"

"Not in these three days."

"Get up and wear your jeans. Let's go have some fun."

"Where are we going?"

"Adventure." She gave me those deadly, mischievous looks and I fully bought it.

I jumped up from my bed, slipped on my jeans, boots, pulled on a rather light jacket over my t-shirt and tied my hair up to a neat ponytail.

"Uh-huh." Vanessa shook her head and let my hair free. "Cooler this way."

"Thanks."

Vanessa's gray-haired best friend Carli bolts inside our room the next minute, prompting us, "Come on. Let's go! They're here!"

"Who's here?"

Vanessa leaps up once, fisting her palms like a winner before she grabbed my wrist and we ran all the way to the campus gate.

"Alright. Stop running!" Carli orders at the gate.

We immediately did.

"Now, take your breath and act cool." She laughs.

I looked over Vanessa. She was already adjusting her hair, jacket, jeans, she hopped up once or twice to warm up her body, then with a deep breath, she looked at me. "Ready?"

"What's going on?" I shook my head at them.

Breaking into a wide smile, she jerked me at my elbow before they strutted ahead of me. I followed them out the gate and then a little further until the cafe outside came into view. . . also, the bikers that hung around in that area.

There were more in number than the last time I saw them and we weren't the only girls. I followed Vanessa and Carli until I realized it was those bikers we were going to meet. Alarm bells rang in my head, reminding me I didn't fit into this group.

"Vanessa, I think I should go back," I said behind her.

"What? No. Come on! I promise it'll be fun!" Vanessa came and grabbed my wrist again.

That was when I saw him at the far end, watching us like he hated us, a cigarette between his lips.

Oh, nononononono!

"I. . . I'll go."

"Come on! We'll tell them to be nice to you alright. They're cool," Carli said before running ahead into the arms of one who kissed her.

"Guys, this is our friend, Lola. Be nice to her, alright," Vanessa said as she too went into another man's arms but, I didn't think they were dating.

You'd think telling them to be nice to me would make this better. It just didn't. They were like, "Hey, Lola. I'm Cooper, Pascal, Grayson, Valentino. . ." while I stood there awkwardly nodding to them while conscious of the way Mr. Yesterday was staring at me from his end.

Pascal offered to take me on a ride.

"Thanks but no. I don't think so. . ."

"Come on! It'll be cool," he takes my hand.

"No. Really. I'm fine. Thank you."

"Hey, baby. I know you haven't done this before," he pulled me in his arms, taking me by surprise.

"Oh, no! No! Lemme go, please." My heartbeat started to race. I shouldn't be here. Placing my palms on his shoulders, I tried to get out of his hold.

"Pascal, shut up!" Vanessa turned to him. "She doesn't want to."

Laughing, he hooked my hair behind my ear and tried listing my chin to meet his eyes. I started to get angry.

"Lemme go!" I glared at him, seething through my teeth.

"Leave her alone, man."

My heart jumped to my throat at the sound of his voice, catching us with authority and a devilish calmness about him. We turned to look at him. He had his eyes on the ground while he sat there leaning on his motorcycle, frowning and looking like he'd have enough of the show in front of him.

Then he looked up to us and jerking his chin, he ordered, "Let her go."

Pascal's arms immediately loosened around me. I jerked away from him, thrusting him at his shoulders. I didn't like having his hands on me. It disturbed me so, I folded my arms and braced myself. I probably looked like an angry toddler in a crowd of dare devils.

Taking a long drag of his cigarette and then squashing it under his boots, the guy from the day before looked up to me. Blowing the smoke out from his mouth, he beckoned me to come to him with his fingers.

Stunned, I looked around me. Pascal motioned me with his head to do as I was told. Slowly, I trod towards him and stood in front of him.

He was handsome but he also looked notorious. His eyes were piercing blue and I could look at them forever. He also had a piercing on the end of his right eyebrow.

"Tell me your name," he demanded while the rest of the people watched curiously.

"Lola."

"Your full name."

"Willow Sandberg."

He stared at me dead in the eyes for a moment before nodding his head. "That's a nice name. What does it mean?"

I opened my mouth to speak and then closed it shut again. I hadn't really pondered over the meaning of my name. Funny. All my life I had assumed that it's just willow we're talking about, the willow tree. But the fact that it could have become a name because of the tree being something else had never struck me. Only now. How stupid.

And embarrassing. . .

I mumbled, "I guess it's just. . . Willow. The tree."

"So, your parents or your godmother, whatever, named you after a tree, huh. That must be one fucking tree," he marveled ironically and I saw the corner of his lips twitch, almost exploding with laughter. The rest of the boys snickered behind him but he held himself together.

For the first time so far, I got the courage to glower at him straight in the eyes.

That's my name, you fucking asshole.

He smirked back at me and his eyes could kill anyone.

"We should go," one of them said.

"I'm Jay, by the way. Jay Ryder."

I didn't say anything. I sulked. He took me completely off-guard when he reached out for my waist and easily pulled me towards him, completely disregarding the distance that should stay between strangers. I swallowed under his gaze as my palms came in contact with his chest, feeling the rigidity beneath my fingers. I seemed to forget how to breathe as he leaned into my ear and asked me, "Are you brave?"

My lips quivered at the feel of his breath on my neck, disarming me to the last layer, and I bit into my lower lips. I didn't dare to even look up at him and meet his eyes and yet I liked it. The proximity to him.

Gradually, I lifted my eyes and locked gazes with him. The confidence in his eyes was hard to fight. He motioned me with his head to get behind him on his bike. I stepped away from him as he stood up and threw one leg over to the other side. The rest of the people too got on their bikes. All the other girls had also climbed up behind one biker each, except Carli and Vanessa. They stood there waiting for my decision.

I stood there frozen on my spot. There was no way I was getting on that monster. He rode a Ducati xDiavel and there was hardly any space for me to sit. No wonder he asked me if I was brave. With a smug smile on his face that said he knew I would chicken, he sat there waiting for me to make my mind.

"Guess you're not coming then?" Jay taunted.

To hell with it.

I stepped forward and hopped on behind him, praying at the same time that I could keep my limbs in place.

"Oh! She gon' ride Margarita with Street-Legal!" One of the guys with a side-parted undercut whooped, clearly stating that Jay wasn't an easy driver.

Everyone was now looking at me like I'd done something completely out of this world. Vanessa and Carli are staring at me open-mouth, worry flashing in their eyes.

"No." Vanessa shook her head at me.

But I had already made the move. There was no turning back now. I tightened my arms around Jay's stomach, grabbing on to his shirt. To say that I was fuck-shit frightened would be an understatement. I was ready to close my eyes and start screaming at any moment but I wasn't going to chicken out. Not today.

One after the other, they started hitting the road. I watched behind them terrified to my gut. They drove crazy and Jay was going to be crazier. My heart was definitely going to crash soon. Jay grabbed my wrists and pulled me closer to him.

"Hold your hands together," he instructed. I did.

"Don't let go and Lola, stay alive," Jay said as the machine roared to life.

The next moment, we went bulleting across the street. Squeezing my eyes shut, I started screaming.

He's mad and nobody can tell me otherwise.
