Hollys POV
"What?" I ask.
"I came here to see my girlfriend and your too much like her I just- I'm sorry she was deaf and when she left I'd never heard her voice and you had glasses on. I know what her eyes look like. I probably should go this is awkward." The guy says.
"I am Holly. Holly Thorn from Ohio and just for over cancer." I say taking off my glasses. This was just a dream. I knew it. But this was definitely a form of Zach. Dream or not.
"You said your boyfriend died." He says confused. He knows it's me now.
"he is. This is just a dream." I stand up and start walking away but he grabs my wrist.
"This isn't a dream Holly. I'm Zach. I'm here!" He seems desperate.
"Maybe it's a brain tumor then. I need to go wake up. I probably still have my meeting with Mr. Lutz." I say and try and walk away but his grip is too tight.
"Holly. Just trust me please." Dream Zach says. My lips form in a frown.
"Am I dying? Is that why your here?" I ask.
"What?! No! Holly!" Then his gaze softens. "Let me show you I am real. I haven't seen you in over a year! I expected a hug at least! Even if you have moved on. I haven't though." Zach says.
"This is exactly what he would've said." I look up at the familiar face and I know I'm crying. "Thy told me you were dead." I whisper staring in his Amber eyes.
"I'm not dead." Zach smiles and brings me closer to him and leaves a hand on my cheek running it along my jaw bone.
I close my eyes. "I'll be awake any minute now and then you'll be dead again." I lean my head into him. "Then it'll be over." I whisper. I felt Zach's gaze burn into me. This is a dream I could live in.
"Come with me." Zach whispers and I only nod and follow him. A few blocks down is a park, settled behind a school building that is nearly impossible to get to, wedged between taller and towering buildings.
"Just like our garden." I whisper and go slowly to a bench like swing.
"How long will it take for you to believe me?" Zach asks.
"I don't know." I just wanted to enjoy this. I sat beside of Zach on the screen. He lays a hand over mine.
"You know how you think I'm dead and all? Well it's really hard to pretend I'm just a dream." Zach laughs. Him saying this makes me smile. It's just so much like him.
I lean into him letting his body engulf my own.
"If this is a dream I never want to wake up." I say.
"Holly. Do you trust me?" He asks staring straight at me. "This isn't a dream." Zach says but I don't reply. "Why did they tell you I was dead?"
"I don't know." I sigh.
"So you've come to the terms that maybe I'm not dead? Cause i would really like that." Zach smiles sadly.
"I just ant believe it. They said you were dead! And I tried to kill myself because I didn't want to live without you!" Crap. I let it slip.
"What?" Zach asks bluntly like surprise has guarded any emotions he had left.
"I'm not going to wake up am I?" I say.
"Holly! Oh my god! Why would you do that!" Zach screams which startles me. "Why would you do that?" He whisper and takes my face in both his hands.
"I don't know I just-" I stutter. "It was hard. They told me you were dead but I didn't believe them at first. Then I decided that it was stupid to think you were dead. And then I believed you were dead."
I'm starting to rethink this is a dream but, maybe it's just a trick in my head. I look to my left where Zach looks down at me and it seems he's trying to keep it together.
"Dreams don't cry do they?" I say in a hushed voice that Zach can barely hear.
"Please believe me Holly." Zach cries. I've barely ever seen him cry before. "I haven't seen you in over a year and I knew the possibility of you dying because your cancer was so advanced but now that I'm actually hear I need you to believe me!" Zach practically begs.
"But your dead." I hold my head in my hands and let out a few whimpers.
"I have proof that I'm not a dream." Zach says suddenly and sniffles lightly.
"You do?" I say looking up suddenly curious.
"Here." Zach pulls up the length of one of his pant legs and I gasp but I can't seem to take me eyes off it. A prosthetic leg? He didn't die in the accident? His leg was amputated.
I look back to his face and he rolls down his pants. I shakily move my hand up to Zach's face. I run it along his cheek bones and down his chin.
"Your not dead." I whisper. "Oh my god." I breathe. "Your not dead." Immediately break into tears.
"I'm not dead." Zach smiles and wraps both his arms around me, resting his chin on my head.
"I spent a year thinking you were dead and so much has happened." I'm crying and wiping tears at the same time.
"Holly." Zach says forcing my to face him with the tips of his fingers in my chin. "I'm not going anywhere."
"This doesn't make sense." I mutter and stand up from the swing and Zach stands up too.
"I'm sorry." Zach whispers and rests his forehead against mine.
"Guess what?" I smirk slightly.
"What?" He says.
"The cancer is gone." I knew he'd probably figure it out but he could think I had a wig.
Zach smiles and pulls back my head to kiss my forehead.
"You are completely unpredictable."
