Skye's POV
We were having a great time at the carnival. I was having an amzing time with Nathan. He's a pretty funny and cool person.
I can tell that he's not like all the other dickheads who've entered and exited my life.
I think I may like him. I can't tell for sure yet though! I mean, I think I do, but we only just became friends and this is the first time hanging out with each other. I want to make sure this is my true feeling and it's not just lust. If it's even that.
-
After a bunch of game-playing and me beating him at most of them, we left the carnival.
"That was fun." I said as we walked home.
"Yeah it was. Except for when you beat me all those times." Nathan laughed.
"Don't be a sore loser, Nath." I laughed. That's my new nickname for him.
"I am not a sore loser! I just can't believe a girl beat me in so many games." He laughed.
"I'm not like other girls." I said.
"I know. And I like that about you." He nudged me and smiled. I felt myself smile at that. He likes me because i'm different. That i'm not like the other girl's that he has met.
"You're pretty different yourself." I spoke.
"I get that often." He nodded.
"Different is good. And in my case, It means you probably aren't a dickhead like every other guy i've ever met." I laughed. With the exception of Siva and Jay.
He smiled at me. His green eyes sparkled as he smiled. His smile is so genuine and caring, you can tell by just looking at him.
Stop!
Oh my gosh, I really have got to stop this. The things I think of him aren't anything, they're just compliments. This doesn't mean that I like him or anything like that. I don't feel any certain way about him or anything.
Or..do I?
Nathan's POV
I'm really starting to like Skye. She's pretty amazing.
I wonder how her blood tastes...
Wait! What am I doing! I'm not supposed to be thinking about biting her!
I shouldn't be thinking of that right now. I do kind of want to bite her, but at a later time, when I can tell her that i'm a vampire. If that time ever comes.
"How about that song you were gonna have me sing?" Skye asked suddenly.
"Oh yeah!" I remembered.
"So what song do you have in mind?"
"I'm still trying to think of one." I pondered.
I didn't want to give her a song that had too many high notes or anything like that. She said to not do that.
"You're taking too long." She said in a high tone.
"Just calm down!" I laughed.
"I have a song in mind now." She shrugged.
"Well, let's hear it." I said.
Her and I stopped walking.
"Okay but keep in mind, i'm really really shy about this so it may not be my best." She warned.
"That's perfectly fine." I said.
"Okay. Here I go.
I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, 'I'll never let you go'
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, 'Don't leave me here alone'
But all that's dead and gone and passed..tonight..
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now..
Come morning light..
You and I'll be safe..and.. sound..."
She breathed.
I could swear that my eyes widened to lengths I didn't know existed. She is amazing!
"How was that?" She asked nervously but with hope in her voice.
"That was...amazing." I smiled.
"You really think so? I thought I was shit, to be honest." She looked at me.
"No. You were too amazing for words. Words can't do it justice. Your voice is amazing, Skye."
"Thank you so much." She smiled at me.
"You're welcome." I said and we continued walking.
Her voice was awesome. It was so light and airy and the lyrics were perfect for her voice and she looked so graceful.
I'm speechless.
"So. Do you like to sing?" She asked me.
"I'm not much of a singing type of person. I mean, i'll sing, but it's not exactly something I do often." I said.
"Do you know the next thing that's going to come out of my mouth?" She smirked.
"Yes I do, and no i'm not singing!" I laughed.
"Aw, come on. For me?" She pouted.
"No Skye. I'm not singing." I said.
She gave me the puppy dog face. I couldn't resist it. I had to say yes.
"Fine. For you, i'm gonna sing a little bit of a song." I gave in.
We were walking as I began to sing a song.
I took a deep breath.
"Oh, her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shinin'
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday
I know, I know
When I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so
Sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me Do I look okay?
I say, when I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are..."
I looked at her for her opinion.
"That was amazing." She breathed.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah. You sound too amazing for words. You would have girls weak in the knees with a voice like that."
"You really think that?" I asked.
"I don't lie, Nathan." She raised an eyebrow.
I smiled and we continued walking home. We were just turning the corner and going into our neighbourhood.
"Do you want to hang out tomorrow?" I asked as I walked her up to her house.
"Yeah, I would like that." She smiled.
"Okay, well, i'll see you later." I smiled.
"Alright. Bye Nath."
"Bye." I gave a little wave.
I walked across the street and went inside my house. I went straight to my room and laid down to sleep. I'm a bit exhausted, but today was worth it.
The last thing I remember is thinking about Skye.
Skye's POV
I stepped in the house with possibly the hugest grin ever. I had an amazing time with Nathan today.
"Hey Skye, how was your date with Nathan?" My mum came down the stairs.
Woah. Back up for just a second. Date?
"Um, it wasn't a date. We're just two friends who hung out and enjoyed each other's company." I said.
"Sounds like a date to me!" She laughed.
"It wasn't!" I blushed.
"You're going to stand there and look me in my face and say that wasn't a date?" She smirked.
"Yes, I am." I smirked back.
"Skye, that was very much a date. But anyway, how was it?" She asked.
I playfully rolled my eyes at that. "It was fine. We went to the carnival." I said.
"Did you kiss him?"
"Mum!"
"I can't ask a question!?"
"You can, it's just you can't ask that question!" I said.
"Just answer it." She laughed.
"No, we didn't kiss." I looked away.
"Do you want to?"
"I don't know." I muttered.
"Hun, you're blushing." She pointed to my cheek.
I covered my cheeks quickly.
"Do you plan on going out with him again?" She asked.
I hated how she treated this as if I just came back from my very first date or something. And for the second time, it wasn't a date! But she's my mum, so it's normal.
"Yeah, I might." I said.
"Okay, well, Alex is up there in your room. I told her that you were out with Nathan and that she could wait if she wanted."
I nodded and went up to my room.
-
As soon as I got in my room, Alex attacked me with questions.
"Where did you go? How long were you there? Did you kiss?"
"Alex!" I yelled. She abruptly stopped talking.
"Can I take a breather for a second?" I laughed.
"Okay, okay." She backed off.
I sat down on my bed and was quiet for a few seconds.
"Okay," I sat up, "Now with your questions. One at a time though!"
"Alright. First question, where did you go?" She asked.
"To the carnival."
"Ooh. Did you kiss him?"
"Skip."
"Did you want to kiss him?"
"Skip."
"Skipping is not an option." She laughed.
"Okay fine, if you must know, No and yes."
"Do you like him?"
"We've been through this Alex."
"I know, I know, but I'm just clarifying."
"Yes I like him."
"Okay." She nodded.
"He had me sing a song." I said.
"Really? Why?" She sounded confused.
"We were talking about hobbies and I said I liked to sing and he told me to sing something." I shrugged.
"Did he sing as well?"
"Yeah."
"How was he? On a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being that he breaks glass in a bad way, and 10 being that the angels of heaven itself have blessed him with this beautiful thing called a voice." She said.
"10.." I muttered.
"That good!?" She exclaimed.
"Alex, he was so good that 10 is an understatement." I gave her a look.
She pretended to faint. "He must've been really good."
"He was amazing. I had a great time with him today." I said.
She smiled and gave me a look. She gave me the "You know you like him" look.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You like him!!" She poked me.
"Stop it Alex." I laughed and scooted over.
"Skye has a crush!" She sang.
"Alex shut up!" I laughed.
"You know it's true." She nudged me.
I looked out at Nathan's house."Well, Nathan's not like other guys. He's different from all the others. And I think I like it."

A/N - - - Okay so the song Skye was singing is Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that Nathan was singing Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars so I just didn't put the link to it. xx
