It was a slightly shaky time at the championships. It was now the second month and the competition had severely dwindled due to the elimination. What else had dwindled...was the confidence of Saku. Saku had fought against Drake, who upon hearing a note of advice, sort to increase the anger of Saku. However as Drake spoke those words...everyone realised just how strong his anger was.
Saku anger, was immensely strong, so much so it created a tuner...called the Feral State. According to Anaeus while the form enhances reflexes...it rids the user of their mentality. Meaning, with only instinct they turn into a mindless and violent animal. Sora and Ellie, after some difficulty, managed to calm Saku down. And now Saku was resting, shaken by the event.
It was now the afternoon...and the atmosphere for one...was dense and heavy. Saku was sat on his bed, with his palm held out. Floating above his palm was the light, with two swords crossed, the brave tuner. And a dark light, with a red Y like imprint, the feral state "I thought...I had gotten better. But I guess...as much as I want to...I can't erase it" Saku let his hand drop "what's going to happen...if no-one is there...to stop me" outside the room was Ellie and Sora who were listening through the slightly open door
"he's really down about this...isn't it?" said Ellie a little concerned
"yeah he is" said Sora "and it sounds like...this has happened before" Sora then looked depressed "I never knew...about it"
"no-one could have known about it" said Ellie "but..." she called back to the event "I never want to see that again" Sora saw Ellie's body tremble "never again"
Sora wanted to ask the obvious question 'what did you see?' but saw it would be a bad time "Well...what do we do now?" said Sora changing the subject "Anaeus has been trying...but Saku is just sitting there"
"his confidence is just shaken that's all" said Ellie looking happier "as you heard him, he's just worried. Let me ask you, since you seem know about it. Is the feral state really as bad is that?"
"well..." said Sora folding her arms "not as extreme. It's better off that Saku hears this...but first we need to cheer him up" Ellie then winked
"you just leave him to me" she said "right now, he just needs to know we're here. Plus, boys like him...warm up to girls like us rather easily" Sora chuckled a bit "go, on I'll join you in your room in a few minutes"
"okay" with that Sora left.
Ellie first knocked on the door "Saku...I'm coming in" Saku turned to see Ellie
"oh Ellie..." said Saku a little quietly "hi there" she gently smiled "what brings you here?" she walked to Saku
"I just came to check up on my captain. I am part of your team after all" Saku seemed somewhat surprised
"you are?"
"yep" she stood proudly "starting today, I Ellie Raygor" she then punched her palm "am on your team"
"that makes you...member number 5 then" said Saku before hanging his head
"it's a good thing I came after all"
Ellie then proceeded to sit next to him "now come on and talk to me. What happened yesterday is still really eating you isn't it?" Saku gave a brief nod "tell me...why specifically?"
"well..." said Saku slowly "I'm just...worried that's all. That isn't...the first time I've lost it. So...I'm worried I'll lose it again"
"So...everyone has a little fire buried inside them" said Ellie "you should see me, when there's only one chocolate apple left" Saku turned to her "from the sounds of things, what that Drake said really upset you. So it's only natural you're going to lose it"
"yeah...I suppose so"
"no suppose about it" said Ellie put an arm around him "if you're upset...you're upset"
Saku turned to her "so...it's okay to feel worried?"
"yes of course" said Ellie shaking him a little "and at the end of the day, if you do get angry...we'll be here to help you back up. I mean, that's what team-mates do. I mean...I know you'll help me when I get sad" Saku then chuckled "what's so funny?"
"what you just said...is what I said to Sora" said Saku
"what goes around comes around" said Ellie "if you look after us, we'll look after you. That way, everyone is happy" Saku then smiled "there we go" she then pulled Saku closer, resting him on her shoulder "there's nothing better than a smile"
Saku was a little red but felt quite pleasant and fuzzy inside "you've done this before...haven't you?" Ellie chuckled with a hint of guilt
"you caught me out there" said Ellie chuckling "and as I seen...it works. So, I'll ask the question. What are you thinking about now"
"that my sister...Aries...doesn't see me like this" said Saku
"why...for being this close to a girl?" guessed Ellie
"no...to make sure I'm not doing anything indecent" Ellie then let him go
"no worries there. I mean...considering how close your head was" she thrust her, slightly bouncing, chest out "you didn't stare once" Saku then turned red "hm,hm couldn't resist. Anyway, let's go to Sora's room. She's waiting for you" with a nod...and a smile.
Saku, with Ellie, arrived in Sora's room. Sora and Anaeus were sat at the table with Ayoko still sleeping silently behind them. Sora saw Saku come on "oh hello Saku. Are you feeling okay?"
"of course he is" said Ellie rubbing Saku's head "I told you I could make him smile"
"I'm fine Sora...thanks for asking" said Saku a little happily "Ellie said you were waiting for me"
"well...we both were" said Anaeus "I know you're a bit...shaky right now. But we thought it'd be best if we'd told you about the feral state" Saku smile dropped
"well...it's better to know...then be ignorant. So tell me...please?"
Saku sat down to the table with Sora and Anaeus while Ellie stood by them. Sora started "well...how to start. The feral state is different than the others one, in how it's made and it's drawbacks"
"the feral state, also called the anti-tuner or the feral tuner" said Anaeus "is formed...from your own anger or rage. From now on, you'll have the option of going to that form"
"but...won't I lose control again?" asked Saku.
Sora shook her head "for the most part, your reflexes and instincts are greatly enhanced. And that liquid cloak around you, heals you and burns opponents on contact. However you'll lose a bit of...human thinking. But as long as you keep your anger back, you'll keep some self-control"
"and then we come to the drawbacks" said Anaeus "for a start...the angrier you feel...the more you'll lose yourself. And if your anger is a point...you could trigger the state involuntarily. So you pretty much, as the name implies...you become feral"
"So as long as Saku, keeps himself under some control" said Ellie "he'll be fine"
"there's correct" said Sora happily
"you see Saku" said Ellie "it's not all bad. Who knows, the next time you go that state. You'll be a force to be reckoned with...without the collateral damage of course"
Saku found some relief to this "that's good"
"theirs is also...another drawback" said Anaeus "and one you need to be careful off. The feral state...doesn't really feel pain or fatigue. You'll only notice how tired when you are...when the form runs out"
"so short bursts" said Sora waving her finger "the same with the brave tuner. And if you forget...we'll remind you"
"or plain knock you out" said Ellie punching her palm making Saku laugh
"I hope it doesn't come to that. Your last punch hurt" Saku said "but I forgive you" Ellie then smiled too "well" Saku opened his palm producing the two lights "I'm...still a bit uneasy about using this"
"then give it a bit of time" said Sora "I mean you've got a whole month before the next elimination"
Ellie saw his happy face which brought a deep relief. She felt much relieved by his face he looks much happier nowand felt relieved herself "Well not that we've eased Saku's worries about a bit of sparring. Nothing gets you going like a practise match"
"well...okay" said Saku energetically "let's go to the training hall"
"wait...I'm coming too" said Anaeus "it's time I stretched my legs a bit. I've been cooped up in bed for the last week"
"I'll stay here, and watch Ayoko" said Sora
Saku turned to Ayoko "speaking of cooped up in bed" said Saku "I wonder when she'll wake up"
"about four days from now" said Sora with certainty
"wait...how can you be so sure?" asked Ellie to which Anaeus spoke in a strangely nervous tone
"we checked this up in a book..." said Anaeus a bit quickly "and read...she suffers from sleeping sickness. And should wake up in four days...at the earliest"
"oh...okay" said Saku "we'll see you in a bit" and with that everyone left.
Sora breathed out nervously "jeez...I've got to a bit more careful. I do have to keep the contents of the letter a complete secret after all. The letter, more or less, said Ayoko will wake up...four days from now. Since it said a week at the time I got it. If this one part is true...then it stands to reason that we will find father, a little under, two months from now. Still, the PS message bothers"
"you mean 'only we can heal the scar on his heart'. That must be Saku. But...if he is...what kind of scar is it? And...how would Mrs Ash know him?"
In the training room, Saku and Ellie were sparring together with Anaeus, for now, watching. Ellie was going at a gentle pace encouraging Saku to fight harder "that's it...come on...punch higher...and harder" Saku was trying "but...don't forget about the legs" using her aura pole she simply tripped him up "come on...up you come" Ellie helped him up and got back to it "if you concentrate so much on upper attacks"
"you're lower body is exposed I know" said Saku as if reciting it "you...remind of my first teacher" Saku was now swinging kicks
"oh...who he...or she called?"
"she's call Sophie Brown. She was...the first friend I ever made. A B rank, wind fighter. She preferred close combat techniques, and she taught me the fundamentals" after Saku punched her pole he stepped back breathing out.
Ellie put her pole down "she's sounds rather smart" she said nodding "So what is it about me that...reminds you about her?" Saku looked a bit embarrassed
"you're...kind demeanour" Ellie found much respect from the comment
"is that so?" she said with a smile "you know...there's one thing I like to try" Ellie put her glove on "can you fire one of those...aura attacks at me?"
"you want me...to fire one at you?" Ellie twirled her pole and nodded
"I fought all kind of opponents...but never one who uses pure aura energy. With this glove on...I'll be fine. Now give me a good one" Saku put his hands in-front of him and then focused.
Saku aura, red with blue borders emerged, and a sphere began to form. Saku then began to move his hands, as if moulding the energy as it grew. Once it reached a respectable size, roughly a bit smaller than a beach ball, Saku put his hands back forward "alright Ellie...here it goes" Saku then called out, to which a pulse radiated from him making the sphere shoot to Ellie. Ellie held her pole out to block the sphere, to which it collided.
Ellie found the sphere very strong, as it scraped her feet along the mat. Ellie could barely hold her ground "I haven't felt...anything like this...before" with a great deal of effort she deflected the sphere upwards. However the strength of the attack, still knocked her to the ground as it hit the ceiling. Anaeus let off a low whistle
"that was...impressive" said Anaeus "Now even I or Sora can condense that much energy" Ellie looked amazed
"that was...amazing" Ellie said as she then got up and ran to Saku "I never seen an attack like that before" she looked too excited to hold it in "I've been on the receiving end of water, fists, swords, earth...and yet I haven't had, that, much trouble fending something off"
Saku looked embarrassed as he rubbed his head "problem is, attacks like that can take a while"
"still it gets the job done doesn't it?" asked Ellie "I'll have to see if you can show me how to do that" Anaeus then stepped forward
"alright, come on...my turn" said Anaeus twisting his arms "I haven't had a fight for a while. And I don't want to get rusty"
"well...let's go then" said Saku "I haven't had the chance to fight you yet" the two then squared off "but I have to warn you. I'm fire resistant"
"it that so?" said Anaeus "well we'll just have to see" Saku brought his aura out, and Anaeus produced his flames when
"hey...wait"
Just then Sora came running in which surprised the two. Anaeus was the first to speak "Sora...what's the matter?" Sora panted a bit
"I've just received word" said Sora "Saku, the person you've recruited...is going to arrive in the next minutes" Saku reacted
"wait...she is?" said Saku excited "then we've got to go and meet her"
"wait...what's going on?" asked Ellie "who's coming?"
"well, I was given the privilege of adding one of two recruits to my team" said Saku "I've been waiting for her for a while now"
"come on then. Let's go meet our team-mate" said Sora to which Saku turned to Anaeus
"sorry about this Anaeus. We can fight another time"
"fine by me" said Anaeus "I've been waiting for Kai anyway. Look here he is now"
Kai came out of the doorway looking quite as smug as ever. Kai sighed "I don't know why you insist on this training lark"
"because, mister perfect, unless we practise we'll get rusty" said Anaeus almost sarcastically
"yeah, yeah" Kai looked to Saku "at least you're not moping anymore" Saku looked annoyed "you put on quite a display yesterday"
"yeah, and ended up nearly destroying half the room"
Kai then stepped forward "if you ask me, instead of fearing it..." Kai clenched his hand "you should be controlling all that power. Then no-one would stand in your way" Saku stepped forward
"not all of us have all the emotions of a stone you know" said Saku "Some actually worry about others" Kai then stepped to him
"and not all of us have the bravery of a scared child either" Saku narrowed his eyes
"if you really want to see it, you could be on the receiving end of it"
"it might give me the chance to see what fighting a wild animal is like"
"you're not exactly home-grown yourself" the two then glared at each other, so much so that you thick sparks were flying between them.
Ellie sighed "boys and their pride" she then stepped to Saku "alright you, come on...let's go. We've got a little lady to meet"
"hey, hey...stop pushing...Ellie" said Saku as Ellie pushed him along "Ellie...I've got legs" Sora was about to run after them
"I'll see you later Anaeus and Kai" and she ran after them. Anaeus turned to Kai
"do you have to wind him up like that?"
"I'm only telling him the facts. It's not my fault he's that caught up in himself"
"umm...you could be...less blunt you know"
"I don't plan on changing how I talk for one moron. He should be spending more time mastering, then worrying. It might help erase his fears of previous incidents" Anaeus tilted his head "because keeping them away doesn't do anymore any good"
"How would you know how Saku is feeling?" asked Anaeus but Kai just looked away
Saku, Ellie and Sora were waiting anxiously in-front of the championship building. Sora was curious "So Saku, who is this last member of the team?"
"well...since I wasn't allowed to pick anyone from my academy" said Saku "she was the only remaining choice. She only just registered as a bio-duellist a few months ago"
"what rank is she?" asked Ellie
"well...technically she's a B ranked fighter with the power of lightning. Or better to say, power closely akin to lightning. However she's very proficient at combat"
"what do you mean...akin to lightning?" asked Sora
"well it's aura energy but when fired it's spiky and erratic like lightning. You'll have to see It for yourself. Well with her, that makes five, and we now have a full group"
"but, don't you have a second recruit?" asked Sora to which Saku thought
"oh yeah, I was given two. Well...I think I'll save that one just in-case. For now we're fine with five" just then a coach came into view "oh here it comes"
A coach came closer and stopped just before them. Saku looked quite excited as the doors opened. His recruit stepped down from the coach with a head of pink hair "there you are" said Saku "It's nice to see you again"
"same here..." replied a young voice "I was so surprised to hear you invited me. I haven't been training for all that long"
"well, this time is as good as any to show people how good you are" Ellie then stepped forward
"so...this is our newest recruit?" asked Ellie "would you care to introduce us?"
"Sora, Ellie introducing our fifth member. She's quite young but also reliable. Introducing...my fourth sister Mochi Stritos"
Mochi Stritos is Saku's fourth sister and his only younger sibling. Mochi is a girl looking about twelve/thirteen years of age. She's about chest high to Saku with thick, and slightly long pink hair, which went down the sides and back of her head. She wore a light purple, long sleeve t-shirt under a sleeveless white hoodie jumper, with light blue, girls, jogging bottoms.
Mochi ran to Saku, vaulting into a hug "Big Brother...I missed you"
"how've you been?" said Saku rubbing her head "have you good for everyone back home?" she jumped back and nodded
"hmm, hmm. Lexi been teaching on how to use my power. And she even taught me her technique"
"she taught you that!?" stammered Saku "oh...that'll I'll have to see" Saku stepped to the side of Mochi gesturing to her "Ellie, Sora this is Mochi. My youngest sister. Mochi these are my team-mates say hello"
Mochi bowed "pleased to meet you two" Ellie smiled and knelt down to Mochi
"aren't you a cute little thing?" said Ellie making Mochi giggle "My name is Ellie Raygor, an A ranked fighter. Just call me Ellie"
"okay mrs Ellie"
"you don't have to be so formal" said Ellie "we're team-mates afterall" Mochi nodded as Sora stepped forward
"Nice to meet you Mochi. I'm Sora" Mochi smiled
"it's nice to meet you Sora. What kind of fighter are you?"
"I'm also an A ranked fighter. I must say, you're quite young Mochi"
"that's why it took so long" said Saku.
Saku put a hand on Mochi's shoulder "Mochi is about twelve and half, years of age. She's one of, if not, the youngest person to come to a championship. And it just took a while to clear her through. My privilege did say, anyone, in bold letters"
"but I'm here now" said Mochi "and I'm ready to show how strong I am"
"I like your enthusiasm" said Ellie smiling "just don't be too intimidated by all the big kids at this academy"
"so...which room is she staying in?" asked Sora
"oddly in mine" said Saku surprising her.
Saku then spoke "yeah...they couldn't get a room for her. That...and my family specifically expressed they didn't want her staying with just anyone"
"I'll be okay" said Mochi "I have a sleeping bag. And me and big brother have camped before" Sora didn't seem to like this idea
"but...you're staying with boys?" said Sora
"it's alright Sora" said Ellie "judging from what Saku told me about his sister Aries, she's not a big fan on indecency.
"yeah...same here" said Sora
"So I'm pretty sure if Aries didn't like this. She wouldn't let Mochi do so
"well, you ever need to change clothes, or just want some space" said Sora kneeling down slightly "you just come to my room. I'm next door to your big bro"
"yeah okay" said Mochi
"come on then. Let's go inside" said Saku and with a nod Mochi followed the group inside.
The four made it inside were Anaeus and Kai had just finished training. When they both noticed Saku and co coming in "ah...here they come" said Anaeus "and with the new...and young addition" Anaeus turned to see Mochi. Mochi looked up to him and appeared to be staring
"ohhh...I like your hair. It's all white" Anaeus found her comment amusing
"I haven't been complimented on hair colour before" said Anaeus rubbing his hair "but then again. I haven't seen pink hair before" Mochi giggled with Sora stepping to her
"Mochi this is my twin brother Anaeus" said Sora to which he gave a salute "and Anaeus this is Mochi. Saku's youngest sibling"
Kai looked unimpressed "you had the option to pick anyone and you chose a kid? You're more deluded than I thought Saku" Mochi looked a bit annoyed by his comment
"don't mind him Mochi" said Ellie "That's Kai and he has all the dullness of a mouldy stump"
"I wouldn't let her size fool you Kai" said Saku "she's much stronger than she looks. And not an easy one to fight"
"then why don't I test her?" said Anaeus twisting his arm "I wouldn't mind going for another round"
"yeah okay" said Mochi "could we play until 60% please? I just want to practise, I don't want anyone to get hurt"
"nothing wrong with that" said Anaeus "alright folks. Stand back"
"good luck Mochi" said Saku "but only use that technique if you have to. Or don't use it at all. Just trust your own judgement" Mochi nodded as he stepped back.
Mochi prepared herself, while Anaeus flexed his hands and produced some flames "a fire user?" said Mochi noticing "I'd better be careful" Mochi flexed her body and ran forwards. Anaeus saw her coming
"alright come on then" Anaeus threw a beam of fire at Mochi
"Flurry Dash!" she then seemed to just disappear and reappear to the side
"so you dodged that one? Here have another" Anaeus threw several more beams of fire. Mochi just did the same thing, vanishing then reappearing, approaching Anaeus quickly "oh no you don't" Anaeus swiped his arm in an arc making a crescent wall
"time to go round" Mochi then stopped and turned ninety-degrees. Mochi, with a hand to the floor, went round Anaeus in a circle approaching his back
"wait...whoa" Anaeus was caught off guard
"here I go" Mochi jumped at Anaeus and began letting loose a set of dual, piston-like, punches. Mochi then finished by, flipping forward and jumped off Anaeus chest backwards.
Anaeus was sent skidding backwards but stood up straight rubbing his chest "I've got to say. You are a nimble little thing. I guess I'll have to turn up the heat"
"yes please" said Mochi happily "I won't learn how to protect myself otherwise. So let's continue" with that the two resumed. Anaeus was now striking the floor with precision making it difficult for Mochi to move. And eventually fencing her off
"he's blocked me with these fires" said Mochi running
"Mochi!" called Saku "give him one of your specials" while Ellie and Sora pondered Mochi nodded and ran full speed
"what's she going to do Saku?" asked Ellie
"just watch and see"
Mochi's aura appeared. It was pink, spiky and somewhat erratic with sparks. Like electricity. Mochi then tucked in her arms, and sped up. A jet-stream of dark pink then began to surround her "Lightning...Accel!". Suddenly she sped through the flames, with blinding speed. She left only a, lightning shaped, path of pink in her wake which had cut through the flames. Anaeus looked very surprised
"whoa...she literally just ran through them"
"here I come Anaeus" Mochi then jumped trying to surprise Anaeus
"sorry little lady" said Anaeus producing a large flame "but no can do" Anaeus then struck the ground with his flame. The flame landed with mild force but the resulting hot wind, push Mochi through the air "here it comes" Anaeus then pulled his arm back and made a overarm throw movement sending a beam of flame. The flame curved downwards towards Mochi who covered her body to protect herself.
Mochi was sent downwards but flipped backwards and landed on the floor looking a bit affected "dam...you got me Anaeus" she looked a bit disappointed "I thought I surprised you with my special"
"I actually was Mochi" said Anaeus "I'm just used to keeping my opponents at a distance that's all. Trust me, against most people they wouldn't see it coming" Mochi looked a bit happier "it's a shame you don't have anything long-range" Mochi then had a cheeky smile
"well...I actually do" said Mochi bringing back her aura "I'll show you" Saku then spoke
"do you remember what I said about her power?" Said Saku
"yeah, you said it was akin to lightning?" said Ellie
"yeah...just watch"
Mochi then put out her hands out "alright Anaeus...here I go" in each of Mochi's hand were plasma-like spheres of energy. Anaeus noticed how her spheres fizzled
"it's like watching electricity" Anaeus prepared himself by igniting his hands with flames "now bring it" Mochi then put her hands forward, merging the two spheres together. The newly fused sphere, only a bit smaller than Mochi, it was a darkish pink and fizzled
"alright...here it comes" said Mochi "have this Shining...Nova!" a beam of, unexpected size, erupting from her sphere. It sounded, exactly, like an electric charge as the beam, slightly, zig-zagged towards Anaeus fizzling. Ellie and Sora were completely surprised by this but Saku just looked impressed. Anaeus quickly thickened the flames on his hands and thrust then forward.
Anaeus could feel the power of her beam, giving him much difficulty "jeez, I should've prepared myself better" he then felt a tingling sensation, surge round his body "not quite lightning...but it might as well be" just then he felt his flames begin to glow "this...isn't good" just then the lightning caused the flames to grow and suddenly an explosion. Anaeus was thrown backwards by the blast sending him rolling along the floor.
Anaeus eventually came to a stop and was getting up "well...that one stung" Anaeus checked his glove "and 62% so that's game. Well done little lady" Mochi looked overjoyed and ran to Saku
"Big Brother...Big Brother I did it!" Saku rubbed her head
"Indeed you did Mochi" said Saku "good job" Saku then noticed that Sora was kind of dumbstruck "Sora...hello? Anyone there?"
"just...wow" said Sora "that was...amazing" Mochi turned red and giggled "Mochi just...brilliant" Ellie was equally impressed
"I wouldn't imagine such an attack could come out someone so small" said Ellie "And your power. It looks like Saku's...but reminds you of lightning. I can see who's been teaching you how to fight."
Anaeus was walking over "I've got to admit. She certainly surprised me. She kinda lacks in brute strength but she's more than fast enough"
"that's Mochi for you" said Saku "being natural young she doesn't have a great deal of physical strength. She we've been training Mochi on using her speed to add force to her attacks. Mochi can also concentrate her aura, like I can. Her power...carries lightning like traits. In how it behaves and how it mildly shocks people"
"like, electric aura energy" said Mochi with her finger in the air "I practised with big brother the most. He was the friendliest to fight with"
"why is that?" asked Ellie
"well...Big sister Aries is nice to talk to" said Mochi "but she's super scary when she gets into a fight. So...I keep it really brief with her"
"if you need a reminder" said Saku "she's also known as the blonde demon"
Ellie instantly shivered "I thought I recognised the name. She's the infamous sadistic and buxom demon who's known to laugh at inflicting pain to her opponent"
"yeah..." said Saku "and when she punishes you...you'll wish you were dead. For example...when most people use hands to spank you...she uses a hammer and greaves" everyone simultaneously gulped
"My other big Sister Lexi is super tough" said Mochi "she would always attack me and force me to keep dodging"
"no wonder than" said Anaeus "I've heard of Lexi Stritos. A highly aggressive aura fighter, that also can implement lightning into her attacks"
"she was really strict" said Mochi "but she did teach me some special moves. Big Brother Saku though, he practised fighting with me and showed me how to control my energy. So we had a lot of fun"
Ellie looked quite impressed "so to sum it up. Mochi is quick and nimble fighter. She lacks in physical strength, but makes up for it with her speed and aura attacks. We've got ourselves a find addition"
"We expect many things from you Mochi" said Sora to which Saku spoke
"now, how about some food?" suggested Saku "I can imagine you'll be pretty hungry" Mochi's stomach growled to which she laughed embarrassed
"then come to my room" said Sora smiling "I can fix you up something real nice" Saku's stomach then growled "and for your big bro too" Saku too was embarrassed "come on then. Let's go"

"you know...it's weird" said Anaeus "but Mochi's power...feels almost the same as Saku's. Which is strange, because their adopted siblings"
