• Aira's pov •
"Do I really have to quit? You knew how much I dreamt of being a fashion editor", I pleaded to Hyungwon as he rolled his eyes
"You're only the assistant, besides you can work at my company. You loved art, not fashion. You can look after the art museum or something. I'm literally giving you a lot of options", he plainly stated
"Yah! I love art but I also have an undying love for fashion", I made up some excuse
"Since when? You used to dress so sloppily back in high school", he sarcastically smirked as I hit his arm
"Whatever, you love me even if I dressed like that", I crossed my arms
"Well can't argue with that. Do as I say and quit okay? Call me when you're done", he patted my head as I said goodbye and went out of the car
The office was hectic but today is entirely different. The floors and the glass were squeaky clean, the dying plants are replaced with new blossoming ones, all the employees are wearing really neat clothing and the girls even do makeup. I approached my desk and my manager approached me
"Yah! You're late!", she's whispering which comfused me
"Why are you whispering, eonni?", She instantly shushed me while I scanned at her face looking answers
"The devil is coming", she said in a very low voice
"Who?"
"The CEO", her eyes scanned the surrounding as I did the same
"Is he here yet?", I whispered to her
"Not yet, but we can't let down our guards. He sees a little mistake then we're out", she pretended to slice her neck.
"To be honest, I'm here to give out my resignment letter", she glared at me as I chuckled nervously
"You don't need a resignment letter if he saw your mistake", she deadpanned as I shrugged, she suddenly stood up so straight and I heard everyone running around as the door opened.
He was really tall and fit, he has a sharp jawline, big bunny eyes and his hair was perfectly styled. He looked really handsome and charismatic just from first look, but he has this dark and scary aura around him. Kind of reminded me of a certain someone.
Everyone bowed deeply and greeted him in unison, "Good morning, Mr. Jeon"
Mr. Jeon? Is he the owner? But he looked younger than I expected...
The manager pulled my shirt as she asked me to bow as well. I did my bow and as the CEO passed by, I get up and watched him. He suddenly turned around and stare right in my eyes. I gulped hard as he slowly walked towards me.
He stopped right in front of me and slyly smirked. Yup he reminded me of Hyungwon.
"What's her position?", he averted his gaze to my manager whose body won't stop shaking.
"Uhm sh-she is-"
"Talk properly", he sneered as she tried to calm herself and speak calmly
"He's my assistant, sir", I looked at her with sympathy. I guess I'm used to Hyungwon's attitude that he didn't scare me as much.
He eyed me up and down and smirked.
"You. In my office. Now", he walked away and entered his office.
The employees all sighed in relief and they all stared at me.
"Eonni, is he really the CEO? He looked younger than I expected", I looked over at my manager
"You idiot, he's the new CEO. Mr. Jeon's son", Oh no... so I was right, he's the son! Hyungwon would be so pissed if he knew
"Good luck", the manager patted my shoulder as I nodded
I knocked on his door first then slowly opened the door. He was leaning his back against the chair as I entered. I saw his name carved in a glass plate, Jeon Jungkook.
"You wanted to see me, sir?", I stood in front of him as he looked up.
"Why are you here?", he said while eyes still glued to the papers
"I'm sorry sir, I don't understand", he stood up, sit on the edge right in front of me and crossed his arms
"I ask you one more time, why are you here? Fiancee of the Chae Enterprises's CEO, Baek Aira?", I stared at him with wide eyes as he chuckled
"Trying to spy on my company? Find my weakness?", he touch a strand of my hair as I backed away a bit
"No and honestly I'm planning to quit today", I quietly muttered
"Quit? Is it because you're busted?", he licked his lip as I chuckled
"I'm not a goddamn spy ugh! Hyungwon was right, you are a paranoid asshole", I spitted out and took out my resignment letter
"I'm still your boss and you dare to yell at me. So disrespectful", he sarcastically shook his head as I put my resignment letter in his table.
"Well you're not my boss anymore and don't worry I won't ask for my salary", I began to turned around as he grabbed my wrist and pushed me against the table. He placed his hands on the edge of the table, blocking my way.
"So feisty, I like it. Hyungwon has a great taste", he caressed my cheek as I pushed him away
"Step away buddy or I'll break your pretty little face", I threatened as he burst out laughing
"You? Threatening me? Aw you're a cutie", he held his stomach as I balled my fists.
I prepared myself to punch him and flew my right arm aimed to his face until he stopped my fist. He gripped my fist as I whimpered in pain. I didn't know he's such a strong guy.
"You can never beat me", he let go of my fist as I held it in pain.
He took my letter and ripped it off. I stared in shock as he threw pieces of my letter in the air.
"You can't resign without the letter, can you? better make another one", I smirked as I took out 5 copies of the letter. Yeah, Hyungwon made me do it but it did come in handy.
"Too bad, I have five more of it", I shoved it to his face and stomped away.
I was about to leave until he said something
"I can destroy your beloved fiancee's company", I turned around to face him as he held my resignment letter
"You won't", I crossed my arms and smirked
"Try me", he crossed his arms
"You're bluffing", I said in an annoyed tone
I glared at him hoping that he would flinched or something but his stare was solid scary I'm the one that flinched.
"We're practically each other's biggest rival and I can make up stories such as his fiancee having an affair with his rival", my jaw dropped
"Like he would believe it", I snorted as he stepped closer
"Oh Aira, I knew Hyungwon got easily jealous and protective when it comes to you. He would believe it in a heartbeat", I clenched my fists
"Just shut it. I won't believe you and I'm leaving. Good day to you sir!", I stomped away and opened the door until he yelled
"Just wait, Baek Aira. I'll find your weakness", I had goosebumps
"And do remember my name. We'll meet again very soon", I didn't turn around and closed the door.
All eyes were on me as I walked out of the room. My manager pulled me into her office room.
"Yah how come you're still alive?", I chuckled at her words
"Why? do you expect him to eat me or something?", I laughed
"Almost everyone that went out of that room looked like they lost their souls", she shivered at the memories.
"It went okay and he let me resign! Isn't that great?", she immediately crossed her arms
"Great for you, now I have to find a new assistant. You have a handsome super rich boyfriend waiting for you while I'm here, alone...", she faked a cry and my phone buzzed
"Hello?", I carefully answer
"Jagiya are you done yet? What took you so long?", I smiled at his voice
"I just need to take my stuff and I'll head straight to the lobby. Can you pick me up?"
"Sure, be there in five", I ended the call and looked at my manager
"Lucky", she shook her head as I grabbed my stuff and bowed goodbye
• Hyungwon's pov •
I waited in front of the drop off area while people stared at me. I guess stepping foot in enemy's property is weird for them. I saw Aira approaching with a box in her hands. I got out of the car to help her
"Aye you shouldn't have! This is not heavy at all", she smiled as I ruffled her hair
"A pretty girl shouldn't carry things like this",
I can see the girls staring and squealing
"Wow you're even popular in enemy's territory", Aira joked as I helped her put her seatbelt on
"What can I say? I'm blessed with unrealistic features", she sarcastically laughed as I start driving
"Hyungwon-ah", she called as I looked over
"I met him today", she said while staring at the window
"Who?"
"Jeon Jungkook", my grip on the steering wheel got tighter
"You were right. I thought you're the worst jerk but turns out there's another one"
"YAH! I'm not like him", she looked over at me and lightly pinched my cheek
"Of course you're not! You're a bit better!", she cheered as I sighed in defeat
"Whatever. He didn't see you right?", I scanned her face as she chuckled nervously
"I'm just curious, what will happen if he sees me anyways?", I shook my head immediately
"He knew about our relationship and if he knew you've been lurking in his company, he'll
never let you go", She immediately held my hand
"I love you", I chuckled at her actions but I can't help to feel like she's hiding something
"I love you too. By the way, mom wanted you and your family to come to dinner later", I reminded her
"Oh okay, I'll text my mom", she started typing on her phone
"But on what occassion?", she asked as I smiled brightly
"To talk about our wedding plan"
