FRANZ

"For your assignment, I want you to make two papers, one on "Feminist Activists Campaign on Women's Rights" and "Influence of Miley Cyrus' Twerking on Society". Submit these on or before Friday. Leave it in my pigeon hole at the Sociology department."

"He's serious isn't he? Miley Cyrus' twerking?" Paulene asked Mischa, the Asian girl on her right.

Mischa just rolled her eyes.

"Well, I think that it will be a very interesting topic. I mean, it's very timely. You see loads of parodies on YouTube, the twerking is stirring up a lot of controversies," I chimed in.

Paulene just pretended not to hear me.

Again.

It's been over a week since she last talked to me.

I clenched my fist, trying to suppress my rage.

I think I have already given her enough space and time that she needed.

It's just wrong for her to treat me like this.

Like as if I don't exist.

If she hated my confession so much, if she won't approve of my feelings for her, then she should've said something at the very least.

This is just so fucking unfair.

And I don't regret confessing.

God knows I mean it.

And I still love her even if she's being such a B--

Such a beautiful girl.

I inhale deeply and let out a heavy breath.

You're in luck that I love you so much, Paulene.

But you're making me feel like shit!

Fuck!

I then just snapped and punched my desk.

I heard gasps.

"Anything wrong, Mr. Richmond?" Professor Dale asked.

I can feel everyone staring at me.

Damn it.

I look beside me and see that Paulene seems like she doesn't care. It's like I wasn't existing and she is hearing none of these.

I turned to the professor and said, "Sorry Sir, I think I need to step out for a bit first."

"Okay, Mr. Richmond. You have five minutes," He answered before resuming to his discussion.

And with that, I stood and walked out of the classroom.

Her being like this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me.

Worst than what I've felt for Tiffany before.

I kept walking on the hallway, out of the building.

"FUCK!" I shouted.

"Feeling better?" A pretty ebony-skinned, short-haired girl in a red and white off-shoulder top said.

I take another deep breath and forced a smile before saying, "A bit."

"Come, sit here beside me," She urged.

I took a seat beside her on the edge of the concrete plant box.

"Ciara, how about you?"

"Franz."

She then took out a pack of cigarettes from her bag.

I watch her tap on the box and take one stick with her lips. She then handed it to me.

"I don't smoke," I told her.

"Just hold it," She then took out another stick and put it in between her lips. She got a silver lighter and lit the cigarette.

"Smoke just one. It will make you feel better."

"I tried smoking already, I don't like it. And I'm pretty sure this is not a smoking area," I said.

"You want to feel better? You won't become a chain smoker after one stick. It's all in the mind. I became a chain smoker because I wanted to. Trained myself to. You don't have to. But you can smoke that one stick and feel better without getting addicted."

"I know," I said as I put the cig in between my lips.

She then lit up the lighter and held it on my cigarette.

I took a sip.

Menthol.

Down to my lungs.

I then puffed out slowly.

"You're good," Ciara said while smoke leaves her nostrils.

"I told you it's not my first."

"So, why scream out "Fuck"?" She asked after taking another hit.

"Just mad about something."

We fell silent for a while, just smoking our lungs out.

The cigarette is getting shorter and shorter by the second.

"I like this girl, no, I love this girl. I told her I love her. Now she isn't talking to me anymore," I finally said.

"You must feel like bullshit," She said before puffing another smoke.

She then went on, "Tell her you feel like bullshit then."

I laughed, "Yeah right."

"No, I'm serious."

Yeah, I guess me and Paulene really have to talk. This can't go on forever.

I then had a glimpse of my wrist watch.

"Damn it. I need to go back in class. It's almost 10 minutes already," I said as I took a last sip of the cigarette before putting out the fire and throwing it away.

"Nice meeting you," She said.

"Same and thanks," I answered as I lift myself up.

I quickly made my way back to the classroom.

I did feel better and I'm gonna talk to Paulene.

About how bullshit I feel.

About her not talking to me kills me.

If she rejects me, then--

My heart did feel a sharp pang at the thought.

You are not expecting anything out of that confession, Franz.

You just want to let it out and let her know.

If she can't accept my feelings, then I'll be her friend until she's ready.

I will wait.

No matter how long it takes.

Love is patient.

Love is kind.

Love is what I feel for Paulene.

These sleepless nights are more than enough proof of it.

ASHTON

"I'm sorry, bros," I said to them with all honesty.

I continued, "Just give me more time. A week, or probably less than a week."

"I've been childish to you too, Ash. Take your time. Besides, this band won't be Roll the Dice without you after all," Horace answered.

"That's right, so gig's on tonight?" Eric asked.

I nodded.

I need this gig.
