February 10, 1993

“I can’t wait till our little Raven is born.” Andrew smiled, rubbing his wife tummy. Andrew and Abbie were having a baby girl. The due date was the 14th. The two couples couldn’t wait for her to come out.

“Raven? I was thinking of, Anjelica, Dalia, Leilah, or Dylan.” Abbie smiled.

“We’ll see when the time come.” Andrew kissed Abbie’s balloon size stomach.

“Speaking of time, will you go to the Kroger’s and get some groceries? We’ve barely have any food left.” Abbie offered.

“Anything for Baby Becky.” Andrew replied.

”Okay. I’ve got a list in the kitchen. I’ll be right back.” Abbie left the room to the kitchen. She came back with a purple note. “We need baby food, diapers, milk, orange juice, apple juice, pancake mix, eggs, and butter.” She read the items on the note.

“I thought we gathered some baby food last week.” Andrew glanced at Abbie. He put his leather jacket on.

“I accidentally ate them. Baby hormones. Now hurry before it close! It’s going to be midnight. On the news it said over fifty people died this earlier in the year. So, hurry!” Abbie pushed Andrew to the door.

“Alright Abbie, stop being so paranoid.” Andrew was opening the door, “Don’t stay up too late. You know how you are when you don’t get enough sleep in the morning.”

“Whatever! Just get my food!” Abbie yelled at him.

“Okay okay, I’m going.” Andrew opened the door. He walked outside the cold breeze. He squeezed his jacket tight. He went downstairs from their apartment to his used 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. Abbie and Andrew were poor. They have just left Abbie’s mother’s house last year an October and moved her in the beginning of January. Andrew got in and started the car. He backed up and drove to Kroger’s, which was right around the corner, a couple of blocks. Andrew put on some slow music and singed to it. Andrew always singed to songs. He knew every song on the radio. Abbie used to yell and scream at him to shut up because he was a horrible singer. He parked into Kroger’s. He got out of the car and checked his leather jacket pocket. He pulled out his wallet to find some money. His only has about 80 dollars. Not much but enough for Abbie, him, and the baby. Andrew walked into Kroger’s. He felt weird, like, he was being watched. Andrew looked behind him. Nothing.

“Maybe the cold is messing with me.” Andrew walked inside Kroger’s. He still had that feeling that he was being watched the entire time in Kroger’s. He walked out of Kroger’s with a bunch of bags. He put the bags in his trunk. Andrew slammed the trunk down and walked to the driver’s door. Still feel like being watched, Andrew opened the door and got in. He closed the door, and turned the car on. He drove away from the parking lot. He turned on the radio and pumped up the volume. Dirty Diana was playing on the radio.

“She's saying that's ok

Hey baby do what you please

I have the stuff the you want

I am the thing that you need

She looked me deep in the eyes

She's touchin' me so to start

She says there's no turnin' back

She trapped me in her heart.”

He singed. He turned to the shortcut to into the forest. It’s one of the short ways getting to Abbie and his apartment. Up ahead of the road he saw a figure, a shadowy figure. Andrew stopped driving. The person looked dead and pale. His skin was so translucent and white like paper, his hair was long and black, and his body was tall and very skinny. He wore a black long cloak. His eyes are was mostly stunned Andrew. The person’s eye was red as fresh blood. Andrew rolled his window and put his head out.

“Excuse me but can you move out the way?” Andrew asked politely. The person still stood there. Not moving an itch or a fragment of his body. His face was emotionless and blank. Andrew didn’t want to run the man over. Andrew sighed.

“Guess I got to speak to him directly.” Andrew muttered under his breath. Andrew got out the car and jogged up to the man. The man eyes followed Andrew. It was the only muscle moving. Andrew stood in front of the man. Andrew seemed like a midget standing in front of him.

“Excuse me, I need to get through so can you please move out the way?” Andrew asked again.

The man lifted up his long skinny fingers and faster than a blink of an eye, he grabbed on Andrew’s neck, choking him. Andrew grabbed the man’s hands, trying to pull it away, but he was too weak. His grip on his hand was stood strong.

“Stupid, Stupid, little human.” The man’s very low foreign voice spoke, “They never realize how important their blood is and protect it.”

Andrew was still struggling to breath.

“But, tonight, you die.” He hissed and tilted Andrew’s neck over. The man opened his mouth wide showing two fangs. Andrew realized what he was. A vampire. Andrew was able to breath, and talk a little.

“Please! Don’t suck my blood! I have a wife who’s pregnant and goes crazy if I’m not home before midnight!” Andrew begged. The man closed his mouth and glanced at Andrew.

“Pregnant? With what?” The vampire asked.

“With a girl.” Andrew answered quickly.

The vampire smirked.

“Let’s make a deal.” The vampire hissed. He released his grip on Andrew. Andrew dropped to the ground, not realizing he was picked up.

“My wife is pregnant with a baby boy. He is going to be the next thrown to the empire of the Vampire World. He will need a wife to stand by him. I won’t drink your blood if,” The vampire paused, “You let your daughter become to wife of my son.”

Andrew didn’t know what to say. He wanted to have his daughter with him, not this freak. He wanted to see her first cry, first walk, first, smile, first laugh, first word. He wants to see her grow up.

“I can’t.” He muttered, “I don’t want my daughter to be with a world full of vampires.”

“Well, I guess I’ll have to kill you.” He grabbed Andrew’s neck and gripped it hard. He leaned to his neck.

“Okay!” Andrew yelled, “My daughter will be your son’s wife!”

The vampire stopped and pulled away, smirking.

“I knew you’d come to you senses.” The vampire hissed.

“But, you have to take her when she turns 18.” Andrew proclaimed.

“Not a problem. You’ll have enough time with your baby girl.” The vampire smiled, showing his fangs. He took his hand off of Andrew’s neck.

“Yes.” Andrew nodded.

“And, if you don’t hand over your daughter to me, you, your wife, and your family is going to get killed understand.” The vampire threatened Andrew. He hesitantly nodded. The vampire smiled, “Good, enjoy your remaining time with your daughter, and remember, I’ll always be watching you.”

Andrew felt wind pushed him hard. Along with the wind, the vampire disappeared. Andrew didn’t know his name, number, or anything. All he knows is that his watching his every move, and his daughter is leaving him and his wife when she turns 18.
