Carters POV
I was a snake slowly slithering through the hall at night. Anyone who got in my way was petrified. It started with Colin crevey, then longbottom, then a hand full of other students then it's Draco. I scream but the snake is controlling it self.
I remember reading in a book with hermione that Voldemort went after mud bloods, he hated them. Then I started thinking as the dream faded to darkness but I was still there. I'm a mudblood so why is Voldemort so Interest in me? I remember the students who I paralyzed some one them were half blood, some were mud bloods , and some were pure blood like Draco. I didn't understand.
I shoot open my eyes to see I'm in
Still on the floor in the Slytherin common room. Draco has pansy cornered in the corner of the room.
"What did you do!?" He growled at her
"I-I-I didn't mean to hurt h-h-her I just wanted to teach her a l-l-lesson" pansy stutters
"A lesson?! You used imperio on her!" He growls.
Suddenly I sharp pain erupts in my head. As if knifes were staving against my temples. I let out whimper and Draco turned to me. He dropped pansy and came over to me. The pain grew more unbearable.
I clenched my eyes shut and I let out a scream. A blood curdling scream. When I opened my eyes pansy was leaning against the wall her face pale and her eyes were lifeless but her chest was still rising and falling. I turned to look at Draco and he was worse. His eyes were shut and he was paler than his usual pale self. And his chest was slowly rising and falling. Everything slowly started to fade into darkness. I let out a small cry realizing I hurt my best friend.
Slowly I open my eyes and realize I'm in the hospital wing. I look over and Draco is alseep in the chair next to me.
"Hello miss Reed" Madame Pomfrey says smiling down at me
"How long has Malfoy been here?" I ask her then I remember I hurt him "is he alright?!"
He's alright miss Reed. He was bruised pretty bad and what ever happened left his ribs a mess....again" she said sighing "but it should just be sore, and Mr.malfoy has been here since yesterday when they brought you in" she said smiling "he really cares about you, your lucky to have a best friend like that" she says walking away
I look at Draco and smile. She was right. I was lucky to have a best friend like him. I remember when Draco and I first become friends. We were 9 and his mom and my grandma were friends
"Carter, this is Draco, draco Malfoy" my grandma says pushing me towards the blonde headed boy
"Hello Draco, I'm carter" I say smiling but the boy just glares at me
"Mudblood" he growls at me
"Snake" I growl back. He looks shocked and almost hurt but then it fades and A snarl replaces it
"How dare you call me that!" He snaps
"Me? You called me a mudblood!" I hiss
"Carter! Out to the car now!" My grandma yells slapping me. I Yelp and walk out to the car.
There's a small scratch where her nail hit my temple so it's right by my eye. I grab my wand from the car. I was old enough to have my grandma's old wand. It didn't work the same because it hadn't "chose" me but it still worked. I flicked the wand and summoned my pet dire wolf to my side. he barked happily.
"Hello Emrys" I said softly
I heard someone clear there throat. We both turned around and Draco was standing there.
Emrys bounded up to him playfully and licked him.
"Your lucky. Normally he doesn't like blonde headed, spoiled Brats, with no heart!" I snapped at him
He looked hurt and I suddenly felt back for saying it.
"Hey!" He hisses sounded hurt
"What?" I Snape
"I have a heart" he says
"Sure. It's probably a heart of gold" I say mocking him
"I don't know about that. It's probably as black as the void itself but it beats like everyone else's" he says coming up next to me
"Reed" the Malfoy's barely ever call anyone by their first name it's only if they are good friends with them, grandma told me this, I interrupt
"Malfoy" I say showing no emotion
"I'm sorry about what I said. I didn't mean to call you a mudblood it's just what I've been taught"
"I know, it's alright. I'm sorry for calling you a snake, and a brat" I say
He laughs "I don't know I am kinda a brat" he says then he noticed the scratch from my grandma. He runs his finger over it.
I stared into his eyes. This boy that I barely knew was actually Feeling sorry for me. I knew what his dad does to him when he doesn't behave. Grandma told me.
He talks his hand away and blushes "sorry" he mumbles
"It's fine" I say blushing as well
"Carter!" My grandma yells
"Why did you bring emrys here?!" She asked angry
"I-I-" I didn't know what to say
"She told me she had a dire wolf and I wanted to see it so she summoned him." Draco says suddenly
"Oh, well then. It's time to go. Say your goodbyes" she says
I hug Draco and he hugs me back. I smile
"See you around R-" he stops at my last name "see you around....Carter" he says
"See you around Draco" I say
I smile at the memory.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Draco's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Are you alright?!" I ask hugging him. He wraps his arms gently around my waist.
"I'm fine, but what happened?" He asks
"You mean you don't remember?" I ask him
"I remember you screaming, but then everything went black" he says. I grab his hand and pull it of the hospital wing. Pain shoots through me and I wince but I didn't stop running.
"Carter! Where are we going?!" He asks running along with me.
"To Dumbledore!" I yell
We get to his office but Draco stops and pulls me to him
"Carter! Calm down!" He yells
Suddenly the pain shoots through my head. Like knifes stabbing at my temples. I let out a cry and fall to the floor clutching my head. Draco has the look of horrified/worried. I hear his voice in my head
"Very good carter, very good!" He cheers "Now, hurt the boy!" He hisses
"No!" I yell out
"Do it! Or I'll do it for you!" He yells
His voice suddenly disappeared and I slowly stood up but it came back without the pain
"Soon" was all it said before disappearing
I grasp Draco's arm and he looks into my eyes horrified. Then he pulls me into dumbledore's office.
"Ms.Reed, Mr.Malfoy? How may I help you?" He asks confused
"Carter go first" Draco's says
"Cover your ears, sir" I say standing up
"May I ask why?" He asks even more confused then he already was.
"Just please" I say and he does as told. Draco does as well
I take a deep breath and let out a scream. All the candles in dumbledore's office went out and dropped to the floor. Out of no where wind started to blow through the wind, and the books start to fall from the shelves. Fawkes, dumbledore's Phoenix, started flying around the room squaking. I stopped screaming and Dumbledore looked shocked and confused. I turned to Draco who looked just the same
"Miss Reed you have an amazing gift!" Dumbledore shouts
"It's not a gift! It's a power! A power I don't want! It hurts people!" I yell.
"Miss Reed. It's a power you must learn to control. It's connect to your emotions. It's amazing once you learn to control it" he says smiling
I had hurt my best friend. I didn't see this as a gift I saw it as a weapon, a weapon I didn't want.
"Don't you see!" I yell "this isn't a gift! It's a weapon! a weapon I don't want!" I scream and the wind starts to pick up again and the fire in the fireplace grows.
"You can learn to control it Carter. To where you don't hurt people" Draco says
I think for a second then I nod.
I could use it against Voldemort if I ever needed to. Dumbledore smiles and then turns to Draco.
"Why are you here for Mr.Malfoy?" He asks
"Out" Draco says pushing me out of dumbledore's office. I was confused by this on way Draco wanted to talk to Dumbledore about but I was pulled out of my thoughts by Harry
"Hello Carter" he says smiling
"Hello Harry" I say smiling
"Carter can I talk to you about the snake?" He asks
"Yeah sure" I say and he takes my hand leading me to the library. Hermione and Ron meet us half way
"Let me guess you guys have been looking into the chamber of secrets" I say and hermione answers
"Of course we have, I want you to show Ron and Harry what you can do" she says smiling
"Alright! But I have animagus training at three" I say
We walk into the library and hermione fills me in on what they've found what is inside the chamber. Apparently it's a Monster but I could have told them that.
"Show them what you can do!" Hermione says smiling
I stand in front of them and shape shift into Draco.
"Malfoy!?" Ron yells and pulls out his wand
"No you bloody idiot! It's still Carter! She can shape shift in a person and change her features like her eyes or her skin color plus her hair color and more!" Hermione yells
I shift back and there all surprised.
"That was awesome!" Harry yells
I laugh "thanks Harry"
"Maybe you should tell Mcgonagall about this. I bet she would be surprised!" Hermione says
"Alright" I say and we all walk over to Mcgongall's office
"Wait lets show her by having you walk in as someone else" Ron says
"Alright, who do you want me to shift into?" I ask
"Shift into Snape!" Harry says excited
"Alright" I say and shift into Snape
We all walk in and she looks up from her desk
"Severus? What are doing here? And what are you doing with these students?" She asks
"Minerva have you-" Snape walks in with Draco trailing behind him
"What is this?!" He yells angrily
"I was just about to ask you the same question" she says then they both look at me.
"That's what we came to talk to you about professor" Hermione says
"Who is this?!" Snape yells
"I can be anyone" I say smiling and shift into Draco.
"Remarkable" Mcgonagall says walking around me
"And who may you really be?" She asks
"Carter Reed" I say shifting back into me.
Snape just looks shocked.
"What else can you do?"
"I can change my features" I say starting to change by eye color and my hair color
"Amazing.....can you shift into animals Carter?"
"I've never actually tried" I say
"Think of an animal and let your mind float around it" she Instructs
I close my eyes and think of a dog.
When I open my eyes all I see is black, white, and Grey. And everyone seems to be talker than me.
"How did you get so tall?" I ask but it comes out as a whimper.
Everyone laughs
"Well done! It will take practice but you will soon be able to shift into animals as well!" Then she gasps
"Carter! Your a Metamorian!" She yells
"What's that?" Draco asked. I almost forget he was here
"It's someone who can shift into people and animals. Normally you have to be a very strong witch or wizard in order to do it" she says looking at Draco and then turns to me
"It will take years to master but I believe miss Reed can do it" she says smiling
Then I look at Snape and Draco. Why was Draco with Snape? What were they doing? Suddenly Snape points his wand at me and shouts
"Stupefy!" And everything fades to black.
