From the corner of my eye I could see Marius walk into the room wearing nothing but a towel. It hung low on his hips, water still glistening on his skin as I slowly bit my lower lip and resisted the urge to gape at him.

"Aren't you suppose to be packing? We leave soon."

Refusing to take my gaze off the book I was reading, I smiled. "I packed whilst you were showering... I don't have many belongings so didn't take long."

Marius grunted and strolled over to the open flamed fire, giving me the opportunity to ogle him from behind. The things I want to do with that ass, I mused softly, so many things...

"Mmm suppose I have to pack and then we can head off," He dragged a hand through his damp, wet hair. "Been a while since I've gone on an exhibition, years even."

I cocked an eyebrow and watched him slowly pull the towel away from him to rub it into his hair. "Oh," My voice came out hoarse and I felt my cheeks burn whilst blood rushed south. "You should really get a move on... or we won't end up going tonight."

"And why is that, Little vampire?"

Without letting my gaze leave him, I tugged the corner of the page down before shutting my book. It rested on my lap as I dragged my fingers over the hard cover, voice soft. "You prancing around naked is distracting."

Marius chuckled and ever so slowly turned to face him. He looked glorious in his birthday suit and I forced back a moan of approval at the sight of him.

He began to prowl towards me, like a predator stalking it's prey and I could do nothing but shiver in anticipation when his knees hit the mattress and his body blanketed my own. "I'll have you know," His teeth nipped my ear, "I don't prance."

A giggle escaped me and I moved to wrap my arms around his neck, enjoying the way his body molded with mine. "So if it's not prancing what would you call it? Your certainly not wandering around in just a piece of cloth for no reason."

His lips brushed my throat and I closed my eyes, tilting my head back and silently offering him my skin. Marius grinned against me and I felt him flex, pushing his cock against my crotch teasingly. "I'd say it was more of flaunting, you like seeing this body of mine."

My cheeks tinted pink and I squirmed beneath him. "I do but we should be getting ready..."

Despite my words, I let my hands wander the planes of his muscular back before digging my nails into his skin. I was rewarded with a throaty moan which had desire lighting every nerve in my body.

"So we should..."

His kisses turned to bites and blood rushed south as I moaned and squirmed beneath his body. My hands wandered up his spine to grip his hair, wondering idly when he would get round to cutting it again before his lips against mine snapped me from my dwindling thoughts.

My cock strained against my cotton briefs and Marius grounded his hips against me, causing delicious tingles of pleasure to run through my body as he whispered filth in my ear.

"Noah... will be here... soon." I gasped between kisses. "We need... to get... ready."

Marius almost purred against me, cock swelling and pressed teasingly against my crotch. I bit my lower lip and couldn't help but shiver when his hand wandered down between us to grab me through my jeans.

Moaning softly, I felt him grin against my skin before reluctantly pulling away, his damp hair brushing against my forehead as he gazed down at me. "I suppose I should get dressed now ay?"

I nodded however I lent up to brush my lips against his anyway, silently pleading with him. A grunt left him and I wrapped my legs around his middle, dragging him flush against my body whilst he chuckled low in his throat.

His hand wandered up and into the waistband of my jeans and boxers, making me let out a gasp when his fingers brushed against my hard, aching shaft.

Marius swore softly under his breath and rubbed his thumb against the swollen head that was slick with pre-cum before pulling away and letting me watch him suck on it. I swallowed back a noise of approval and lent up, about to take him under my grip when there was a sharp knock at the door.

We stayed frozen in place, hoping whoever it was would assume we were sleeping and just leave.

"Cooey, are you two finished fucking yet?"

My gaze wandered to Marius and I watched him roll his eyes to the Heavens before he slowly began to untangle himself from me, leaving me feeling cold and sexually frustrated. I flashed my fangs in annoyance and saw my mate smirk.

"Don't worry," He pressed his lips against my cheek. "We will continue this at a later date... Call it a rain check."

"I don't want to stop, what if..." I trailed off and bit my lower lip, refusing to meet his fiery gaze though he let out a sigh and yanked on some sweat pants before sitting beside me.

"Hey, don't think like that," He reached out to caress my arm through my shirt. "We have all the time in the world, worrying isn't going to get you anywhere now is it?"

"Can I come in now? Are you decent?"

A rumble escaped my chest and from the other side of the door I could hear Noah chuckle.

Marius pulled on a shirt next before smoothing it out and giving me a smoldering look. I forced back the urge to shiver and pulled the blanket off the end of the bed and set it over my lap, effectively hiding my straining hard on.

"Ready?"

I glanced up to find Marius watching me, a grin etched onto his lips. Almost shy like, I nodded and with that he opened the door and in strode Noah.

He was dressed in acid washed jeans, a dark shirt and his leather biker jacket. I had to admit he did look good, that is, until he dragged a hand through his hair and flashed us a knowing grin. "So you having fun without me? Tsk, tsk tsk."

My cheeks burned and he opened his mouth to say something else crude no doubt when a piece of material flew through the air and hit him in the face.

Noah huffed and untangled himself from the shirt and sent Marius a glare though the older vampire seemed oblivious, whirling round the room quicker than you could blink, gathering his belongings up before stuffing them into his bag.

"What was that for?" He mumbled in french and threw the shirt onto the chair before beginning to pace.

"Don't tease him," Marius pulled on his shoes and then headed for his jacket, "That's my job."

A flashed him a smile despite my blushing cheeks and shifted on my spot to let Marius kiss me. He pressed his lips to mine and a shiver of desire ran through me before my hands wandered up to merge with his locks.

My pulse was racing and Marius let out a soft groan of pleasure whilst I tugged at his hair. His hands went up to grip my shirt, dragging me flush against him until Noah cleared his throat and effectively shattered the moment.

Marius growled and we pulled away from each other and shot the French vampire a look of annoyance. He held up his hands in mock surrender, though his eyes were glinting with amusement. "Sorry to break up your make out session but don't you think we should get going?"

My gaze wandered from him to the window and I let out a heavy sigh when I saw the moon hanging high whilst the sky was littered with stars.

"Noah is right, we should go before dawn creeps up on us... Texas isn't exactly a five minute walk away."

"Mmm, well it's a good job we're not going by foot then ay?"

I rubbed at my eyes and stretched out on the bed before pulling on my jumper. "I hope your not expecting me to get onto that beast of a bike, I don't do well on motorcycles."

"Good job I wasn't offering," Noah chuckled before taking out his pack of cigarettes. "You can hitch a ride with Sir Black. I couldn't tolerate you-"

"Payton?!"

The sound of the front door slamming shut and heels clicking against the floor reached our ears and I couldn't help but grin when I saw Noah roll his eyes to the Heavens.

"Payton! Payton where are you!?"

Getting up from the bed I straightened out before wandering out the bedroom and down the hall. Rosá and I met in the living room, she would have barreled into me too had Marius not pulled me out of the way just in time.

She looked flushed, out of breath and she wore a beautiful smile that didn't leave her lips even as her gaze flickered to Noah briefly before settling back on me.

"Andrew proposed to me!"

I cocked an eyebrow and Marius mumbled.

"Poor guy."

Rosá laughed before grabbing me and pulling me into a tight hug. I squeezed her back and found myself chuckling as she then broke away to grasp my hands and start bouncing up and down like an excited puppy.

"I'm getting married," She laughed, "Oh my God I'm getting married! You have to give me away, oh, please, tell me you'll do it Payton."

I opened my mouth to instantly agree when the weight of my situation came crashing down on my shoulders. The smile on my lips faltered and it didn't got unnoticed by any of the vampires standing in the living room crowding us.

"What?"

Rosá shared a look with Marius before she stilled, taking a small step back whilst holding onto my arms. "What's wrong?"

Noah was unusually quiet and I glanced over at him to find him smoking, gazing down at the floor whilst Rosá continued to glare at us. Her grip tightened on me when she noticed our bags packed and let out a squeal of surprise.

"Payton... Marius... W-Where are you going?"

I had lost my voice and could do nothing but helplessly look over at Marius. Slinging his bag strap over his shoulder, he came to stand beside me, hand wrapping around my waist and keeping me close. The contact of his body against mine grounded me a little and I nuzzled against him as he spoke.

"We have to go on a little road trip." His thumb rubbed my hip softly, "We will be back in about a week, maybe two..."

"And Noah is coming with you?"

Marius nodded slightly and Rosá narrowed her eyes, hands now going to her hips as she cocked an eyebrow. "Why do I feel like something bigger is going on here? What are you three up to?"

"We won't be long, don't worry your pretty little head."

Rosá turned her gaze to Noah then and with a glare she reached out to snatch the cigarette from between his lips. She stubbed it into the counter beside them, refusing to break eye contact with the cocky vampire until he cleared his throat in embarrassment.

"Do not smoke in here."

"It's not your house."

"I live here and I won't tolerate that filthy habit of yours."

Noah growled. "Why are you still here anyway? Shouldn't you be sucking face with lover boy or-"

"How dare you speak to me like that! Why are you still here? I thought you didn't even like Payton and yet your now all going on a trip together? What is this!?"

The french vampire laughed and shoved his hands into his pockets, no doubt about to produce another cigarette yet Marius got there first, stepping between them and giving them a look that spoke volumes.

"We have more pressing things to be doing instead of listening to you two bicker like children."

The pair ignored him for a moment before reluctantly breaking their staring contest and Rosá crossed her arms over her chest, my gaze instantly going to the ring on her left hand. It was beautiful, rose gold with little diamonds running along each side of the big stone in the middle.

Andrew sure knew how to woo a girl, I mused softly.

I stiffed a yawn as my thoughts wandered, hand going up to my arm and scratching at the aching flesh there. It was throbbing and had been doing so ever since yesterday and worry crept up my spine yet the pair of guys beside me had reassured me it was nothing to fret over.

They thought I hadn't seen the look they shared, nor felt the tension rise in the room until I excused myself and rushed off to the bathroom to shed a few tears and compose myself.

"What pressing things?" Rosá took a small step towards me. "Payton? What's going on?"

"N-Nothing, I just... We have to go see a witch about something."

She blanched, "What do you mean a witch? Why are you going to see one of those nasty creatures?"

"Because he has a maker issue, now can we go or do you want to interrogate us some more, mommy?" Noah cracked his knuckles as he spoke, voice laced with sarcasm.

It did little to help the situation and a shiver ran down my spine at the low rumble that left Marius in warning. He looked about ready to explode and we shared a fleeting glance at one another before I reached out to lace our fingers together.

Rosá snarled at Noah but the cocky vampire didn't even blink, instead he grinned from his spot beside Marius and kept his mouth shut.

"We need to go." Marius dug into his pocket and then handed Rosá a pay phone. "If you want to talk to us whilst we're away, our number is stored on here."

She looked lost and a little hurt, clearly she knew something was up and didn't like the fact she didn't know what exactly. It killed me a little inside to see her looking so pissed off and upset but I knew it would break her heart if she knew what was really going on...

If she knew I was slowly dying things would be so much worse, so much more chaotic.

All my life I had been the one to be pushed aside but now that I had a family, that I had Marius, I knew I needed to let Rosá go and live her life without having to worry about me like I was her little brother. She had Andrew and now a wedding to plan.

"A week and then you'll be back, right?"

I nodded before Rosá practically threw herself at me and I caught her just in time before we went thumping to the ground. Marius' soft curse reached my ears but I found myself laughing, tears welling up as she attempted to squeeze the life out of me.

"I'm going to miss you too but don't worry, I'll be back soon and I can't wait to see you looking beautiful in your wedding dress." I turned to softly press my lips to her temple and she sniffled. "I won't want to miss your big day now will I?"

"No, no you can't or I'll have to come hunt you down."

From beside me Marius stirred and Noah rolled his eyes before they brushed past us and made their way out the front door. As soon as they were gone Rosá pulled back from our embrace and looked at me through tearful eyes. "Promise me you'll come back."

Emotional welled up in my throat and I forced myself to swallow past it, nodding as she continued to look at me, a tear rolling down her pale cheek.

"No, say it." She reached out to grab my wrist and I fought the urge to shrink away, her fingers pressing into the sensitive, damaged flesh. "I need to hear you say it Payton. This feels too much like a goodbye."

"Y-Yes," I gritted my teeth and forced myself to relax whilst my wrist throbbed. "I promise to return Rosá."

"Good," Tears welled up in her eyes again and my heart ached to see her look so broken and lost.

"Hey, hey don't worry," I sent her a soft smile whilst reaching up to brush away a tear with my thumb. "Don't cry beautiful I'm going to be back real soon okay? Then we can go celebrate your engagement, alright?"

I watched as Rosá sniffled again and took a deep, reassuring breath before taking a step back. She nodded almost reluctantly though she smiled through her tears and then ushered me out of the door, "Don't be long, I'll miss you."

Fighting back the urge to yawn as exhaustion washed over me, I nodded. "See you."

Without another word I turned on my heels and headed out into the night. As my gaze wandered to the sky I mused about Delilah and her so called mate, were they doing okay? Had they gotten over their lovers tiff the other week?

I smiled at the thought of them bickering in the store together before a wave of vertigo hit me and for a brief moment the world went black and a hiss escaped me. I closed my eyes and waited for my body to collide with the pavement yet when it never came I peeked through my lashes to find Marius holding me.

Yawning, I let myself relax under his touch and he hoisted me up to carry me bridal style. Resting my head on his shoulder, I let my painful arm rest on my lap and nuzzled closer to his chest. "Marius..."

"What's up?" He glanced down at me, kissing the top of my head. "Are you feeling okay?"

A small smile flickered onto my face as delicious tingles ran through me whilst I stifled another yawn. "I'm just a little tired that's all."

"How can you be tired? You've barely opened your eyes for more than five minutes!"

Marius huffed as Noah piped up his opinion and the smile he wore faltered when he looked down at me. Rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment, he mumbled a quick, "Sorry starry eyes," Before we headed to the vehicles.

He unlocked the jeep and held open the passenger door so Marius could softly put me in and strap me up. I was instantly surrounded by the scent of him and I moaned as I settled in my seat and watched Marius talk in hushed voices with Noah before they nodded and he climbed into the car with me.

Jamming the key into the ignition, he then lent over to give me a pulse racing kiss which ended sooner than I would have liked. He winked before buckling up and making the engine purr to life before we headed down the dark, winding roads, Noah in front on his bike.

As we drove into the unknown Marius turned on the radio, soft music playing and filling the silence whilst my gaze wandered from his handsome face to the window; watching as the scenery blurred past us, rain splashing on the glass.

Soon the houses in Hollowvale turned to trees and then to endless fields full of flowers and maze and sheep.

"Marius, do you think I'm dying?"

I glanced towards him to find him gripping the steering wheel harder than before. "No, I think you're ill and we'll get you better, so don't worry."

"How can I not worry?" Almost reluctantly, I pulled up the sleeve of my top and watched the dark veins slither like snakes. "Does this not look like something to worry about to you?"

"Put that away, I don't care what you may think it is, I know that you're not dying-"

"But my maker is which means I am because we're linked."

A growl left him and I flashed my fangs, "She could be injured for all we know, why must you be so negative?"

"Me? Negative!?" I let out a humorless laugh, irritated. "Say the God of pessimists."

His nostrils flared and he didn't even attempt to look at me. My eyes narrowed into slits for a brief moment before I let out a defeated sigh and went back to gazing out at the window, looking at the numerous cars zooming past until the road became empty apart from us two and Noah.

Where are we going? I thought with a cocked eyebrow. I had been to Mexico years ago but the routine to getting there was new to me and I had never stumbled across witches before, though from Marius' reaction, I didn't think meeting one would be a good thing anyway...

We continued to drive in silence for the rest of the way and as we did my thoughts raced going from Noah and Rosá and Marius to the vampire in question, Cassandra. My heart swelled at the thought of never seeing her again and fear spiked my body as I thought about her mate.

Jackson was a piece of work and just from our brief encounter I could tell something was off about him yet Cassandra stayed, clearly. I just hoped she was okay, I prayed that the empty, incomplete feeling I felt inside was just worry and stress.

Deep down, I knew differently, I just refused to believe it yet. If I did, it meant I really did have less time than I thought and that alone scared me more than I would have liked to admit.

~

"...Not waking up!?"

"Maybe he's just ignoring you."

There was scuffle, a thump and then a noise that sounded very much like a growl coming from Noah before Marius was back at my side again, clutching my hand.

"He needs to wake up, I knew I shouldn't have let him sleep."

"There is nothing wrong with him having some rest, after all he is... Y'know..."

Another growl, louder this time, rang in my ears and I stayed still, listening to the pair of them bicker with one another about where I was dead or alive. I had slept most of the journey and yet even the idea of opening my eyes and moving had me feeling tired already.

"Don't you start that bullshit as well, I had to listen to Payton doubt his existence in the car."

Noah snorted. "So that's why you're as stroppy as a school girl on her period, right?" He chuckled and another thump rang in my ears.

Marius huffed and squeezed my hand before he let go and I was surrounded by the scent of the Devil himself. The sound of Marius' footsteps rang in my ears before they disappeared altogether, it wasn't until that moment did I feel a tap on the cheek.

"You can open up now, I know you're awake."

"But I'm still tired." I croaked but all I got in return was another tap.

Letting out a soft growl of my own, I reluctantly opened my eyes to find Noah peering down at me, a grin etched onto his lips.

"There you go, Marius has just gone to get us something to eat, then we'll head off again."

"We're still not there?"

He shook his head, "You'll be alright, you know that don't you?"

"Don't lie to yourself," I mumbled as I slowly sat up in my seat before clutched at my chest, wheezing. "We... Both know... that's a lie."

Noah frowned, "What's wrong?"

I tried to turn away from him, feeling the sharp, familiar sting run through my body as the dark, slimy veins spread through more of my body. Tears welled up in my eyes and I tried to tell him I was fine yet all that escaped was a noise of pain.

He cursed loudly under his breath before he set me back into my seat and ripped open my shirt before I had time to protest. Noah's eyes widened in surprise and I watched his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed before my gaze dropped and I found my chest turning grey to match my arm.

"I think... I'm going to be... sick!" Wheezing, I rolled out of my seat and onto the hard ground.

Stones cut into my palms and knees as I gagged, stomach rolling whilst Noah paced back and forth, cursing in French as he glanced around nervously.

Sweat beaded on my forehead and I collapsed onto the ground, resting my head on the floor as it rained.

"You need to get up, Sir Black will be back any moment!"

Gravel crunched beneath his weight before black combat boots came into view. A shiver ran down my spine and I slowly began to pull myself up off the floor, sharp pain still lacing me with every breath I took.

A strong, tanned hand wrapped around my arm before hauling me to my feet faster than I would have liked. My nostrils flared as I glanced up at Noah with a snarl. "Don't man handle me! I'm perfectly capable of standing on my own!"

Shrugging out of his hold I flashed my fangs which he returned with a glare.

"You just had trouble breathing and unless you need reminding, you're dying! That's not something you can take lightly!"

Pain still gripped my heart but I forced myself to straighten to my full weight before squaring up to the French vampire. For a brief moment he looked surprised before a grin flickered onto his lips and he let out a chuckle.

"What the fuck are you doing?"

"I know very well that I'm dying," I jabbed a finger into his chest, shoving him backwards. "I'm not dead yet though and I don't need some... Some asshole flinging me round like I'm a rag doll!"

"Asshole!?"

I nodded, growling as I shoved him back with both my hands, watching in satisfaction as he stumbled before regaining his footing. The rain hammered down on us and he glared over at me before striding forward and grabbing a fistful of my air.

It was in that moment that I cursed being short.

"Let me go!"

"No, if you think I'm such an asshole how about I start acting like one again, you'd like that wouldn't you?"

He gripped my hair till pain shot through my scalp and I whined like a wounded animal. His nostrils flared and his fangs were on show, anger in his gaze along with something else, something that looked a lot like hurt.

"I've tried my hardest to be nice to you, and all you've done is act like a little chienne!"

Snarling at him I reached out to push him away yet he dodged my hands and merely glared harder.

"You're dying, now is not the time to pick battles you have no chance of winning."

"Don't you dare tell me what to do! And a bitch? Really? I'm not the one who was fucking someone else's mate now was I?!"

"I didn't think what Marius had with you would be anything but infatuation, whilst you were away... Thing's changed, and I realized that he really did want you." He dragged his free hand through his tousled hair, "I'm not about to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness so you can think again."

Anger bubbled up inside me and before I could stop myself I was lurched forward and spitting in his face. "FUCK YOU! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TOUCHED WHAT WAS MINE IN THE FIRST PLACE! HOW COULD YOU!?"

Noah growled low in his throat and yanked my head back, making me meet his dark eyes with a look of my own. The rain poured, the sky dark with grey clouds and thunder crashed somewhere in the distance, my body shivering from the cold.

"If you haven't realized by now, I'm a creature of habit," He wiped his cheek down his sleeve. "I-"

"I don't care about you, I hate you! I fucking hate you!" My voice broke and emotion welled up inside, making me tear my gaze from the angry vampire to look at anything but him, tears breaking free. "It doesn't matter anymore, I'm as good as dead."

"No, no you're not. We're going to cure you, get you fixed."

I shook my head and refused to meet his gaze, pain blooming in my chest yet again. "I'm broken, I can't be fixed."

For a long moment we did nothing but stay like that, locked under his grip whilst silent tears rolled down my cheeks.

Noah cleared his throat and seemed to take his time choosing his next words carefully. "I am not your enemy," His grip loosened, voice soft. "You will do well to remember that yeux Starey."

Without another word he then tugged me close and pulled me into his arms, my nostrils flaring at the scent of him. His body was unfamiliar but welcomed and for a brief moment I let myself be comforted by his strange touch as he hushed my shudders.

"Promise me you'll look after Marius once I'm gone."

I felt him tense beside me, his fingers in my hair stilling. "... I don't need to promise you that, you're not going anywhere-"

"But if I do," Stiffly, I pulled back to finally meet his bright eyes. "Promise me Noah, I need to know that if something happens, if this witch can't help me, that you'll look after him."

Reluctantly, Noah nodded though he was frowning the entire time.

He opened his mouth to say something when footsteps approached and we instantly broke away from each other, reaching out to rest my hand on the bonnet of the car, resting my weight against it. Marius came into view seconds later, holding two young looking men by the back of their necks.

Anticipation ran down my spine and I swallowed past the lump in my throat to give him a curious look.

"I figured you need your strength and I couldn't find a hospital anywhere near." He shrugged, ignoring the way one of the men started whimpering and sobbing as he gazed at us with fearful eyes. "Come on, drink up, we're only about half way there."

"Don't mind if I could."

Noah clapped his hands as he licked his lips and I watched with mild amusement as he pranced over and grabbed the man squirming under Marius' touch and grabbed him. He started sobbing louder and Noah growled low in his chest before the sound of his neck snapping suddenly reached my ears.

I flinched and let my gaze flicker to the other man who didn't look so calm and collected anymore. His skin was deathly pale and his heart was hammering away so fast I thought it was about to burst out of his chest as his eyes stayed rooted to the heap of a man now lying on the ground, unmoving.

"Hey, Payton, come here."

Shoving my negative thoughts aside I went over to Marius with numb limbs, "I really shouldn't... Not after the last time I drank from a human."

Marius let out a chuckle and gripped the man harder, shoving him forward so he stumbled and lurched towards me. Just the scent of him had my mouth watered and I bit my lower lip as I then watched Marius lean in and sink his fangs into his throat.

The man yelped loudly, his face contorting with pain.

A noise of pleasure escaped Marius lips before he pulled back to wink at me, "Come on, just a little taste wont hurt and I'm here, I'll keep you in check..."

"Y-You are all sick freaks!"

"Quiet food."

Marius gripped the guys throat till he shuddered in pain and cried out again. The noises he made startled me into action and a soft noise escaped me and before I could stop myself, I was staggered forward to place my hands on his shoulders.

Keeping him rooted to the spot, I slowly lent in and dragged my tongue up his skin, shivering when his pulse leaped under my touch. My gaze flickered to Marius and he nodded, smiling reassuringly, "Go on, you're hungry, eat."

One of my hands wandered up to cup the side of the man's neck, keeping him still and with a throaty moan I finally sunk my fangs into his flesh, watching as Marius grinned at me before pressing his lips to my hand and moving it away to feed as well.

Thunder crashed overhead and the rain poured heavier, drowning on the human's screams as we fed from him. Warm, sweet blood dripped from his wounds and onto his shirt, staining mine in the process as we grunted and growled, draining him dry.

Lightening lit the sky for a brief moment as I eventually pulled back, panting and licking my lips before dragging my hand over my mouth and wiping the remaining blood down my jeans.

Marius pulled away and grunted in approval, his grip on the dead man easing up and we watched as he fell onto the floor with a thump between us. He grinned over at me, fangs on show and blood smeared onto his teeth and in that moment, I knew I couldn't live without him, despite how much he pissed me off.

Sending him a gentle smile in return, he stepped over the body and ushered me back into the car and into the warm.

"I love you."

Blinking in surprise, I buckled myself into my seat and turned to give him a look whilst my heart soared. "You do, do you?"

Marius reached out blindly to grip my thigh, "Always have, always will."

Fighting back the urge to cry again, I forced myself to smile before resting my head against the headrest and relaxing under his touch whilst the engine lulled me. "I love you too," I whispered softly after a while.

From the corner of my eye I could see Marius break out into a handsome smile and his hand gently squeezed my leg. Shoving down my negative thoughts and trying hard to ignore the pain running through my body, I pulled my jacket closer and prayed that everything would be alright.

For a very long time I had wished nothing but death upon my shitty life but now that Marius was around, I finally felt different and I wasn't about to let that slip through my fingers.

Death could go fuck himself.
