(Jake's POV)
I woke up the next morning laughing because JJ had accidentally rolled off the couch in her sleep. I pulled her up on top of me and she laid there still asleep and I couldn't help but laugh. I brushed hair that we spread across her face out of the way and watched her sleep. Is that weird? Maybe it is, but she's my girl and nothing made me more happy then to have her in my arms.
I soon dosed off as well and woke up to a little girl running in to the room jumping on Colton.
"Well good morning princess." Colton said grabbing her and started tossing her in the air.
We were all awake now, except for Jay, and I started rubbing her back to softly wake her up. she grumbled and finally woke up. "Morning beautiful."
"Good morning," she yawned, "what are we going to do today?"
"It's a surprise. But the first part of your surprise is in the back of your dad's truck downstairs. He texted me saying he brought his truck by last night for us so we could use it."
I pulled her close to me so I could whisper to her. "Why don't you go check the shotgun seat? I have a few things for you. It'll just be you and me today, okay?"
She leaned down and kissed me softly and short, "perfect." She smiled and walked down the stairs on her way to the truck. I hurried to get up to get changed as well.
(JJ's POV)
I hurried downstairs where, sure enough, my dad's truck was parked outside. I walked up to the door and pulled it open to find a brand new pair of Miss Me's with tags on them still and everything. A pair of boots, and a black tank top. I was waaaaaay too excited to try everything on. I grabbed everything and took it upstairs.
Everyone was waiting on the couch and Jake was just walking out of the bathroom. He had on a brand new pair of Wrangler's and a red and white plaid shirt, as well as a pair of brown cowboy boots.
I set my things on the couch next to me and ran up to him jumping and wrapping my legs around him. He hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear, "You excited?"
I didn't even answer I just pulled him close to me with my hands wrapped around his neck. I kissed him and he pushed me against the wall for more balance with my legs still wrapped around him. He held me under my butt to keep me up, which I certainly didn't mind. Then we hear Tom from the couch...
"Oh my gosh you two, please just get a room..." He sounded as if he'd rather get his teeth pulled than witness this.
We laughed as Jake set me down. I grabbed my cloths from the couch and turned to him, "Alright, I'm gonna go get changed."
I hurried into the bath room changing into my new clothes and curled parts of my hair before putting it into a braid. Abby came in and helped me with my make up telling me that I'd want to look dolled up for sure.
"Do you know where he's taking you yet?"
I smiled so excited, "No, but with these clothes, I can't even wait to find out!"
She started putting some foundation on me and had me sit on the toilet so she could finish my make up. "You're going to have so much fun today."
Abby was a year older than me and was absolutely gorgeous. She always dressed like a model, and I loved having her do my makeup. She opened the door to yell to Halle. "Halle, get in here! Come help me do her hair." Halle quickly got up and ran to us.
Finally after almost an hour of getting ready, we were finally finished! I walked out and Jake was lounging on the couch watching a movie with the guys. He immediately got up and walked over to me. His hands went to my waist and he wouldn't say anything.
I had to practically snap him out of it, "Well... where are we going?"
He shook himself out of it and finally said, "Yeah let's go." He smiled leading me outside as he held my hand. "We'll be back by probably midnight." He said yelling up to everyone.
"No you won't." Abby said insisting. She laughed and yelled again, "Have fun you two."
He practically started running to the truck and opened the door for me letting me in. He quick kissed me before shutting the door. "You look stunning Jay."
He hurried around to the driver seat and started the truck. "I have to admit though babe, I only picked out the jeans. Your mom helped me match that shirt, necklace, and those boots."
I just giggled and scooted to the seat next to him and put my left hand on his thigh. He had been driving for about fifteen minutes and I turned up the radio as we were listening to one of my favorite songs called Farmer's Daughter by Rodney Atkins. There weren't many country stations on the radio here in Canada, but I love this one.
I couldn't help but sing along and half way through the song Jake looked down at my hand on his thigh. He turned down the music and said pointing to my hand, "Now what color of nail polish do they call this?"
I tried to withhold the burst of laughter. "This would be clear." He nodded as if he were trying to make what he asked sound cool. He slid his fingers in with mine and relaxed more in the seat. "Well you're one smooth cowboy." I laughed. (If any of you get that reference... we are now best friends!!! Ok back to the story...)
"I gotta do my best to impress you." He smirked.
"Sooooo... Where are we going?" I asked dying to know what his surprise was.
"Well we're headed to Ariel's place, and then what's after is still a surprise."
"Yay! I haven't seen her in over a month. I can't wait to see her!"
It took us about an hour to get to Ariel's house. The entire time Jake and I just talked about life, and school, work, and what we wanted to do the next year. As Jake pulled up to Ariel's place he opened his door and I followed him out. He held my hand as we walked up the porch steps.
Ariel and Parker had only been married a few months and decided they'd wait to have the baby in Vancouver while they were staying with her parents, and then move back to California a little while after the baby was born.
We walked inside after Parker let us in and saw Ariel sitting on the couch on her tablet. Her cute baby bump was now the size of a watermelon... literally. She had to have Parker help her up because she struggled so much getting off the couch. She walked over to us... actually more like waddled... and hugged me. It was kind of hard with her little one between us, but I didn't mind. She stood there with her hands resting on her cute bump, "So, what are y'all up to tonight?"
"It's actually a surprise for Jay," Jake started, "but you'll see pictures on twitter later." He smiled knowing I was dying to know where we were going.
"Oh!" Ariel suddenly yelled, "Oh my gosh Jay, feel this." She grabbed my hand and put it to her bump. It was insane feeling her little one kick. I was still trying to get used to the fact that they were married and going to have a baby in a few short weeks.
"Oh my gosh, this little one has been kicking up a storm the passed few days. It's kind of annoying at night because I can't sleep at all, but it's fun during the day to just sit and talk to him."
"...or her." Parker said clarifying.
"I've been with this baby for months and am sure it's a boy!" she said for sure about what she was arguing.
"Alright, we'll see when she comes." He said winking at her and kissing her forehead. "I'm going to grab us some drinks." He walked out of the living room and into the kitchen. A little bit older woman, probably 45, walked into the room and hugged Jake.
"Jaker's! I didn't know you were here? When did you decide to come to Canada?"
He smiled and wrapped his arm around my waist. "I'm actually here to see my girl." He looked and me and then back to her, "Aunt Julie, this is Justice, my girlfriend. But we all call her JJ."
"Well JJ, I'm so happy to finally meet you. I remember we were going to try to meet you at the wedding but then you had to go home for a family emergency right?"
"Actually I went home to see Jake. He still had his cancer then and needed me."
"Oh that's right," She said worried, "I'm so glad you're alright now Jakers." Jaker's? That's so cute. I'm loving his Aunt already.
Parker walked in the room with three Coke's and a water for Ariel. "I can't stand soda lately." she explained.
We stayed and talked with them for probably an hour about their plans to move back to California, baby names, and how life had been in the married life. They asked us how everything had been now that Jake and I were together and not doing the long distance thing.
We got up to leave and Ariel suddenly put her hands to her stomach and started breathing heavy. Parker looked at her worried, "A, are you okay?" He crouched down next to her and held her hands. She breathed in and out a few times and looked to him. I think so, it's probably just some Braxton Hicks." She started to rub her stomach and let out a long breath, "I mean I still have four more weeks until the baby's due."
"You're sure you don't want to get checked up?" I asked her. "What if you're just about to go into labor? Plenty of babies are born at 32 weeks. "
"Oh she'd know if she was in labor." We could hear her mom from the kitchen say.
"Yeah, I'll be okay." She had Parker help her up. Just as she stood up she fell half way over as her legs bent. "Oh my gosh, yeah... that hurt." She had both of her hands in Parker's and was completely bent over.
"Ariel, go check things out. Please?" Jake said. I loved how concerned he was. It was cute and made me love him more, and also got me a little excited for when it was our time. He would be the cutest dad.
She looked up at Parker. "Maybe we should. I mean babies come early all the time, right?"
Her mom walked in to the living room with a dish in her hand and a towel drying it. "Hun, I doubt you're even in labor. This is just what it's like to be pregnant. You'll feel Braxton Hicks even weeks before you go into labor."
"Well, I still want to take her in to see how things are going. We haven't been to an appointment in three weeks. Maybe we should go check it out." Parker said holding her up.
Jake and I helped them out to her car and she seemed to be getting more and more exhausted. Before Jake shut the door she grabbed his sleeve and pulled him close to her and she tried to whisper but I totally heard the whole thing. "Have fun tonight bud, you're taking her to the yeehaw right?" I wondered what the heck her yeehaw code word meant.
"Yeah." he smiled. She looked to him and said, "I figured by the way you're dressed. Just have fun. I'll text you how things are going after we find out."
"Alright thanks sis." He said shutting her door. Parker drove off and Jake grabbed my hand leading me to the truck. "Well that was crazy! Ready to go?" He smiled.
"Absolutely." He helped me into the truck and stood in the doorway with his hand on my thigh and the other leaning on the top of the car.
"What?" I asked shyly wondering why he was just looking at me and smiling.
"You're beautiful. You know that?"
I laughed and grabbed him by his collar pulling him into me. He held my neck and we kissed there in my dad's truck. I opened up to him as his tongue ran along the inside of my bottom lip. We probably could have been kissing there for ten minutes before he looked to me and said, "We could just do this all night if you want?" He smirked giving me something close to a smolder.
"Come on! I'm dying to know what your surprise is!" I couldn't handle it any longer.
He kissed me again, softer this time and then said, "You'll find out. Soon..." He said hurrying around to the driver's seat and starting the truck as he pulled out to leave.
