felt bedsick slumped on bed,
dragons fighting in my head;
all reality politely blurred
my pretty words were slurred.
spluttered out beautiful nonsense
brain empty of its contents
learnt to laugh all alone
let madness take the throne.
whispered softly to my pillows
confessed i was a hero
fought fevers overnight
threw logic out of sight.
and i kicked away the blanket
accused it as a casket
then said sorry once again
when the winds inflicted pain.
then found friendship in the dark
left me such a dear mark
welcomed me into its embrace
let it slowly touch my face.
listened to the fan's whirr
a lullaby to my ear
wished me a very sweet, sweet dream
that left my pearly, wide smile gleam.
until my pills finally cured me
from my day of pure insanity
left me wondering what i did
ill yet giddy like a kid.
bathed and dressed just like normal
my body then all clad in formal
left me thinking how the mad
were so lucky for all they had.
