The duo went to L's room they were both nervous mello knocked on the door "come in"
Mello and matt went inside sighing they saw L sitting on the ground searching about something on the computer he turned around and smiled at them "what is it that you want?" He asked mello stepped up
"Uhm well it's about near.." He said
"What about him?"
Mello was gonna speak but matt didn't let him speak "he's just having nightmares but he's alright and sleeping now so you don't need to worry about him he also said he wants to be alone tomorrow to think about stuff.." Mello glared at matt
"Oh okay.."
Matt smiled then pulled mello outside with him
L frowned "they're hiding something..."

"What did you do that for?!?!"
"I-i-i uh-"
"Why didn't you let me tell him goddammit matt!"
"Its because I remembered how scared he was!! How scared he was on letting people know what happened to him he was scared because he told me whoever finds out dies I couldn't live with myself knowing if one of us dies if ever he'll blame himself.." Matt whispered sighing
Mello groaned "but look! He almost died because of you hiding his secret now you're doing the same mistake! I won't live with myself too if he dies!"
"You think I don't feel the same?! " Matt snapped "I'm the one who keeps seeing him in pain and the it hurts how I can't do anything! Now i will. I will do everything just to protect him from that psycho bitch without him getting upset"
"How matt?"
"I don't know but can't we just look after him? Lets sleep inside his room"
They both sighed then mello nodded "okay fine.."

A week later..
So much has happened near never left his room mello and matt would always go and force near to eat but he wouldn't move they always took turns watching him sleep sometimes both of them are there ryuuzaki on the other hand did what he was told and stayed away to give near a break and to think but today was the die he couldn't take it he couldn't take not seeing near
L was outside near's door he didn't bother knocking and he just went in he saw near sleeping on his bed he walked closer sighing to himself..
"You look more pained now...what happened?" He whispered sitting down
Near was awake he didn't say anything he just listened "near I wish I could take your worries and fears away especially now. Matt and mello went to my room and told me you were okay I know they were lying I know something happened..." They did not tell him?? Near thought
"You know what? I'll sleep inside here with you..knowing you're awake and not talking to me there is obviously something troubling you.."
Near was shocked he slowly opened his eyes. His eyes were red and puffy.
"H-h-how did you...?"
"I'm a detective near I was trained to know this.."
The boy just sighed "now tell me what's wrong near.." L asked before near could speak mello and matt came in when they saw the serious talk between near and L they backed out again because they were afraid that L found out they were hiding near's secret
"We'll just go now.." Mello mumbled
"Im gonna talk to you two tomorrow okay mello? Matt?.."
"Yes L" they both said
"L I-" near was cut off by L hugging him "tell me what's wrong near don't lie whatever it is i promise I'll stay calm" L whispered "i-i can't.,"
"Tell me why.."
"Because he'll kill us.." Near mumbled pulling away from the hug
L was confused "He? What do you mean near? Who would kill us and why would he?"
He did not speak luckily watari came in he was holding a laptop he seemed scared and outraged "L come look at this" he said L stood up sighing then took the laptop from watari and placed it on near's desk
His email was opened and he had a new mail from unknown
Dear L,
.........remember me? I hope you do because what I'm doing has something to do with you, you locked me up and took me away and all I Wanted to do was play now I'm coming back to get you,mihael and mail especially nate too. Oh how i know your feelings towards him just like how I feel when you buy me my jam...do I ring a bell? What you don't know what to say? Because I'm out and about wanna know my name its the one and only beyond birthday...you now have something that belongs to me someone marked and will never be free his hair is white and his clothes too he has a little adorable smile and he's in love with no other than you I'll be coming lawliet be careful because in time I'll ruin your life as you ruined mine...
"No.." L mumbled his eyes drifted towards near "near take off your shirt.."
"W-what?"
"Please just do it.."
Near looked down his eyes were covered with his hair then he shakily starting to unbutton his white long sleeved top and once it was off you can clearly see the bite mark tears formed near's eyes
"When did he..?"
"L-last week.." Near whispered tears silently falling from his eyes
"Why didn't you tell me near???"
"Because he said he'd kill all the people who knows what he did to me.."
"What else did he do to you?"
Near was quiet he didn't want L to know
"Near answer me" l said his voice was strict and stern
"H-h-he raped me.."
Watari gasped "son of a" l said it was rare that he would cuss and stuff that's why he stopped himself he was angry at beyond and at himself for not getting the answers sooner and for not noticing "mello and matt knows right" near nodded burying his face on his hand
L looked at him then slowly wrapped his arms around near's still bare body
"Shh don't cry anymore I won't let him get you.."
"Beyond birthday might kill you Ryuuzaki" near whispered clutching on L's shirt crying
"I don't care..."
Near sighed "why does he want me anyways...?"
"I-i don't know near" L lied he was fully aware why bb wants near and it's because he knows it'll break L if near died
"Shall I talk to roger to make an announcement tomorrow about a dangerous man that is lurking around here?" Watari asked l nodded "can you call mello and Matt over here too?" l told him
"Okay sir.." He said then went out
L looked at little near "after that encounter with him did he show himself again?"
Near shook his head "nope he did not show himself but he does send me notes proving that he is watching my every move.."
"Can you show me the notes?"
"Okay"
He stood up sighing then went to his desk and opened the small compartment and took a box he gave it to L frowning
L took it and opened to check the notes
Little near little near oh how I love to see you quiver in fear,

L was clutching on the note really hard he was pissed off but what does he mean by its almost time "he wants to get me L you should just let him get me..".
"No why would I do that?"
"Because if he gets me then no one will get hurt. Mello or matt can be your successor all I gave you all are problems me almost dying, BB...and other things I think it'll be better if I was gone L"
"Don't say that if you were gone I don't know what I would do I'd probably try to find you and won't stop Until I do near don't ever think that you're a burden to us because we all choose to help you not because we pity you it's because we care.." L told near looking him straight in the eyes..
"I'm sorry..."
"Don't be" l said quietly then pulled near in a hug again he wanted to tell near that he loved him also and that it's actually L's fault why near is in this situation
Matt and mello came in "l you called us?" Mello asked walking over to them and sat beside near "are you okay near?"
Near nodded
"Boys as much as I want to talk to you about the fact that you did not tell me the truth about near i need to tell you that i want you guys to stay guard.."
"Do you know who the guy is? Near never told us" matt said
"My assumptions were right it is beyond birthday who is attempting to get near"
They gasped "but why though?" Matt asked
"Yeah why would he want near?out of all of us why him?" Mello said frowning
"To torture me.." L admitted sighing the three looked at him confused "you all know that I care deeply about near because he is so fragile and innocent I'm assuming he wants me to blame myself for the pain he's getting because of the pain i caused BB that and because he thinks near is attractive and delicious.."
Near's eyes went wide "what do you mean by delicious ryuuzaki?"
"Well this is something I haven't told you bb is actually a cannibal too.."
"What?!" Matt and mello yelled in sync
"Great looks like I'm getting eaten.."
"You are not getting eaten near I promise you..."
Mello looked green for a bit "god this conversation is getting weird and disgusting" matt nodded in agreement sighing then took out his psp and decided to just play a game
Near just looked at L he couldn't help but feel a bit...flattered? That beyond chose hi, to torture L and L was actually looking pained...he knew it's wrong to think about it but he knew he had a bit of a chance to be with the detective
L stared at near as well...he hated himself for everything near is suffering because of him he wanted to make this right...he wanted to protect his love...he wanted to protect his world no matter what happens...he doesn't even care if he dies because he knows at least near is safe. If I ever die I'll die while letting near know that i love him he will know soon and i will show him because he's my everything
