( FINDING ELENA )

IMPALA
[ ☾]

Dean Winchester drives his sleek Impala through the night. Ever since he was back on the job, he thought it seemed fitting to get the bang back together. Besides, he's always wondered what Elena was up to.

He is on the side of the road on the phone with Bobby. "So you're telling me that there's three possible Elena's in the whole state of Louisiana?" He asks. Dean has been tracking Elena the moment he left Lisa's.

"Yep, it narrows it down." Bobby says. "Are you sure you don't wanna tell Sam about this?"

"No." Dean says. "He claims he's keeping her safe by not trying to find her, but I think it's something else."

Bobby holds up a notepad. "Well, there's an Elena Thompson in Shreveport. She's a business woman." He says.

"Definitely not Elena." Dean says. "What else you got?"

"An Elena Draper in Lafayette. She's a Vet." Bobby says.

"Maybe." Dean says. "The last one?"

"An Elena Gibson in Crowley, Louisiana. She works at a Diner." Bobby says.

"That's the one." Dean says and scoffs. "She could've made it less obvious."

DINER
[ ☼ ]

Dean walks inside and goes to the counter. A black woman stands there with a mean look on her face. "Uh...can you tell me where I can find Elena Gibson?" He asks.

      "And you are?" She asks.

"I'm her cousin." Dean lies. "You see, our grandmother passed away last week and I wanted to tell her the news."

      "What's your name?" She asks.

      "Dean." He says.

"Did you say your name was Dean?" Another girl asks.

      "Uh...yeah." Dean says nervously.

The girl seems to be profiling him. "She's out back on her break." She says.  Dean smiles and walks to the back of the diner. As soon he leaves, the black Woman, Regina, and the girl, Hannah, go to the window and watch.

"What is going on?" The Cook asks. He is a heavy man with a lack of hair on his head.

"That's one of guys she talked about, Phil." Regina says.

      "Dean?"

      "Yeah." Says Hannah.

"Ooo, I love drama." Phil says as he looks out the window too.

      "Cousin my ass." Regina says.

Dean walks on the side of the diner and stops when he sees someone familiar standing with her back to him. It seemed she was talking on the phone. "No, Caroline. I'm not going back home...because I said so. Whatever, I'll call you later." Elena hangs up.

Dean thought he was only coming here to convince her to come back, but that wasn't the only reason. He wanted to see if he was still in love with her. He clears his throat.

"Phil, I told you that I was—" Elena says as she turns around. She immediately stops when she sees Dean.

"Hey Lena." He says and gives a small smile. Elena walks up to him slowly and then embraces him in a hug. Dean's heart started to beat fast.

"Don't ever do that again." She says into his shoulder. Elena steps back and gets a good look at him.

"Do what?" Dean asks into her shoulder.

Elena pulls away. "Not leave any consolation of where you were." She says.

"Me?" Dean asks. "How about you?"

"I tried calling you, but you didn't answer." Elena says.

"I threw my phone out." Dean says. "Part of leaving the past behind. I started a new life. Get to hunt and come back home to a beautiful woman."

"And I get to come home to a comfy, but sturdy couch and tv." Elena jokes as she and Dean laugh. "Look at you, you look great."

Dean smiles. "You don't look to bad yourself." He says. Silence falls on them as they both awkwardly shift their positions.

"Do you want to come inside?" Elena asks.

"I really shouldn't." Dean says. "I have to be on the road soon, so..."

"I can give you a bacon cheeseburger on the house..." Elena says as she begins to walk in.

"Coming in right now." Dean says as he follows her lead. Phil, Hannah and Regina scurry away from the window and go back, pretending to do work.

Elena eyes them warily when she comes back in. "What were you guys just doing?" She asks.

"Working, duh." Hannah says. "What do you think we were doing?"

"Right...can we get a bacon cheeseburger?" Elena says as she and Dean take a seat in one of the booths.

      "So...diner girl huh?" Dean says.

"It's really the only job that I could have with my acquired skills." Elena says. "It was either this or dumpster girl."

Dean smiles sympathetically. "But you're okay, right?" He asks.

"Yeah." Elena says. "I actually started seeing someone a few weeks ago."

      "Really?" Dean asks.

"After Sam dying last year, I thought I should move on." Elena says and Dean tries not to look at her. "And now I have. He is really great."

A ding is heard. "One bacon cheeseburger, on the house." Regina says.

"Yes." Dean says as he gets up to get his food. Elena is sitting down when Dean's phone buzzes. She looks down at it. Dean comes back and sits down. "Alright, come to papa."

"Maybe you should take that to go." Elena says sternly.

Dean is mid bite. "Why? What happened?" He says. Elena grabs his phone and shows him one missed call from Sam. "Look, I can explain—"

"You Winchester's like to say that a lot." Elena says as she storms over to the diner counter. She grabs her purse and jacket.

"Alright alright." Dean says. "I might not have given you the total truth, but I didn't lie." Elena storms out of the diner and into broad daylight. "Hey, hey. Wait."

Elena forcefully turns around. "What? Are you gonna tell me that Sam is alive?" She asks.

"Yes." Dean sighs. "Sam is alive."

"He's back?" Elena says. "I don't want to see him."

Dean looks taken back. "What do you mean you don't want to see him?" He asks.

"Do you know how long it took for me to get over him?" Elena asks. "I had to see a therapist, Dean. A therapist."

"You don't think I was shocked when I found out?" Dean asks. "I'm just as shocked as you are."

Elena straightens up. "How long has he been back?" She asks.

      "A year?"

"A year?" Elena repeats. "And he never came back to get me. Wow." She says lamely.

"He thought he was protecting you." Dean says.

Elena looks angry. "He could've picked up the phone and called me!" She yells.

"Don't shoot the messenger, I found out not too long ago." Dean says. "That's why I need you to come with me so you can both—"

      "I'm not going." Elena says.

"What do you mean you're not going?" Dean asks. "Yes you are."

"I spent literally half of my time here trying to get over him dying." Elena says. "I can't look him in the eye."

      "So you're not coming."

"I'm sorry Dean." Elena says. "But it was really good to see you."
