CHAPTER SIX – Bruises and Break-up

Two weeks have passed since the incident in the lunch room, and something has DEFINITELY changed in the atmosphere of the students. Whenever I walk down the hall, I can feel more eyes than usual probing the back of my head. I mean, I usually have a fair amount of attention from the way I dress, but this is just over the top.

Harry is also back to normal. His bruises are still fading, but no new ones have appeared since last week. The entire week, he came to school sporting some injury, and at one point; a sprained wrist. What the f*ck was he doing??? Riding downhill on an out of control motorbike???

I’ve asked him a couple more times what’s happening with him, but he shrugs me off and walks away the moment he has the chance. I’m getting a bit frustrated. For all the perfection that he is, he can be seriously stubborn, and I have to admit it’s pissing me off.

But don’t worry Harry, I’m just as, if not more stubborn.

So anyway, I’m walking down the hall to one of my other classes (without Harry *sigh*), when a fellow senior student walks up to me with the biggest grin on her face. What was her name again?

“Hi!” she chirped loudly, clasping her hands in front of her, her eyes wide and blue, looking up at me. Is this chick on drugs? She freaking me the f*ck out!

“Yeah, hi” I mumbled, trying to get past her. Her smile widened, and holy f*ck, she is seriously scaring me right now.

“I just wanted to say it was awesome of you to throw taco’s all over that b*tch Olivia!” she exclaimed loudly, making me look around warily. Luckily, everyone had gotten to class by now. I looked at her warily. So that’s what this is about?

“Er, yeah…thanks” I told her, her smile still bright and full. Maybe she just came back from a laughing gas session with the dentist. “It was pretty awesome hey”

She grinned even more, if that was even possible.

“F*ck yeah! And then that punch you threw…damn, I wish I could do that” I laughed and was about to offer some advice on the art of hitting hoe-bags in the face when the bell suddenly rang, making me jump.

“Ah sh*t. I’m late! Anyway, see ya!” she told me, wiggling her fingers in goodbye, leaving me standing there, the tiniest bit disappointed that she had to leave so quickly.

So now the teacher, Ms Dell is snapping at me for being late. I mumbled apologies and sh*t, before moving to my desk and sitting down. Hey, if some random chick comes up to you and compliments you on your food fighting skills, you’d be pretty shocked too.

“Hey” someone whispered, but I ignored it. People whispered in class all the time. A beat of silence passed, and I wondered when whoever was being called would answer.

“Hey Kiriana!” that’s new. I turned to see some guy whose name I can’t remember, grinning at me. Oh damn, not another one. “It was f*cking hot what you did the other day. Any time you wanna have some fun, you look me up” he winked before shifting to sit back properly in his seat. What the f*ck?!

I blinked, but looked forward as well. What I didn’t know was those two encounters were an omen of what was to come.

****

I gritted my teeth, trying to avoid more students congratulating me on my epic throwdown on Olivia. Awesome as it was, getting bothered by a bunch of hormonal teenagers (especially the boys) got irritating after a while.

I walked into the lunch room, some people looking my way and waving. Jeez, you upset the balance, and all of sudden you’re the centre of attention.

I strutted towards the lunch line, dressed in a high-waisted skirt, and lacy blouse and nude heels. I felt like dressing classy today. A couple of boys wolf-whistled and I calmly flipped them off, my middle finger up and proud.

When I finally settled down to eat some pizza, I turned and caught a very interesting conversation floating from a table nearby.

“Did you hear? Olivia and Harry are on the rocks” some chick gossiped rather loudly.

“Already? No f*cking wonder; her voice must give poor Harry a headache” her friend replied.

“Do you think it’s because of…what happened?”

“Maybe. I mean, Harry is the only one she talks to, so obviously Olivia will’ve felt threatened by that” another girl informed them pompously. No way…they can’t be talking about- “Do you think Kiriana knows that Harry and Olivia might break up?”

“She must be over the f*cking moon. It’s not like she took an interest in any other guy” actually I was over the moon at the idea of Harry breaking free of Olivia’s constricting chains of sl*ttiness. But that doesn’t mean I want other people to talk about it. Or hear people talk about it.

I casually stood, ceasing the three girl’s conversation. From the nervous expressions on their faces, they knew they’d been caught red handed. I glared at them briefly, before walking out of the lunch room, my pizza still in hand.

As I continued munching on it, I suddenly heard what sounded like muffled shouting in the courtyard. I snuck out the door, and peeked around the corner and there was Harry and Olivia, going at it like those girls suggested.

“Why the f*ck are you standing up for her, and not me?! I’m your f*cking girlfriend!” Olivia shrieked, her nasal voice kicking up a notch, making me wince. If it hurt from this distance, then Harry’s ears must be burning. And from the looks of it, it seems this has been going on for a while.

“She’s done nothing wrong. I don’t know why you give her so much sh*t!” Harry yelled, throwing his arms in the air. “Besides, this is not about her. It’s about me catching you cheating on me!” Hoe dare she! She…no she didn’t…she f*cking cheated on the most amazing boy in the world! What the f*ck is wrong with her?!

“I was drunk! You can’t hold anything against me! I was vulnerable and needed some comfort and where the hell was my boyfriend?! I don’t f*cking know! I don’t know what you get up to at home!” she exclaimed, trying to turn this back on Harry, but he wouldn’t have it.

“That doesn’t mean you find comfort in another man! Dammit Olivia! I’m not some sort of trophy you can keep on a certain shelf, but still pay just as much attention to all your other little prizes! If you can’t keep your sh*t together, then we’re over” and with those final words, he pivoted and started walking back to the door. Oh sh*t.

I quite literally sprinted back into the hall, down the corridor and around the corner, while trying not to break my neck from my tottering heels. I gasped loudly, pressing against the wall, trying to slow my thundering heart.

Holy sh*t. Olivia and Harry are over. There is no longer such a thing as Olivia and Harry! F*ck yeah! Kiriana is back in the game.

Now this is a bit embarrassing; but while I was doing a little victory dance, Harry turned the corner and saw me. Of course, at that point, I had my back to him, and was shaking my ass from side to side, humming loudly to ‘We are the Champions’. As I did a shimmy and twirled around, I caught sight of Harry, who had an incredibly amused look on his face.

“Holy sh*t” I screamed, tripping backwards, my heels slipping from under me, making me fall. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for some body part to make impact with the floor, but it never came. No, all I felt was two incredibly masculine arms wrap around my waist and stop me from falling.

My eyes opened in shock, and there was Harry, a smile on his face, his curly hair hanging forward, as he looked down at me. My mouth gaped, flopping open and closed before I sighed, feeling my face heat up.

“F*ck it. That was embarrassing” I mumbled, and he laughed, standing me up straight, but kept his hands on my waist.

My shirt has ridden up a bit, and I could feel his rough hands brushing against my bare skin.

“Are you ok?” Harry asked seriously, his green eyes twinkling. Damn, I could just get lost in those. I nodded quickly.

“Yeah. Sorry. I um, wasn’t expecting you to be there” I told him, embarrassed. He chuckled.

“Nor did I expect to see you wiggling your cute butt around in a victory dance of some sort” I opened my mouth to say something, but I stopped. Cute butt? He thought I had a cute butt?

“It was pretty amusing. I mean, I’d just come from the courtyard after…ah, talking to someone, and I round the corner to see you dancing around, humming ‘We are the Champions’, and I had to laugh” he chuckled, as if to demonstrate, his hands tightening on my waist.

“Well, I had a lot to celebrate” I told him boldly, before biting my lip. Sh*t. Now he’s going to want to know why!

Harry’s eyes drifted to my lips, watching as I gnawed them worriedly.

“What…um, were you uh…” Harry’s head moved forward slowly. “Um…celebrating?” his head was an inch from mine, and I knew if I so much as opened my mouth, my lips would brush his. I breathed out shakily. Oh damn. I wanted to kiss him so bad.

“I-”

“HARRY STYLES!!!”
