Chapter 8
When I got home, I ran up to my room & slammed the door. I slid against the door and covered my face, crying. I cried & cried. Why her? Why did she have to die? I know Liz can be a pain, but she didn't deserve to die! I picked up my head & stared at the picture on my nighttable. It was a picture of Liz & I at camp 2 years back. Jason, I growled. He killed Liz. He killed my bestfriend. And now he's going to pay.
Later that night I put the clothes I've worn earlier on and quietly snuck down the stairs past my parents bedroom. Then I slowly closed the door behind me. I started towards Jason's house( I have a great memory) and managed not to be seen. As I approached his house, I thought about how I was going to get my revenge.
"Gggrrrrr..." I heard a low growl from the backyard. Jason never told me he had a dog! I inched toward it and pulled out my tazer and electrocuted the mutt in its neck. I heard muffled cries and whimpers as it's pulse started to die. When it's heart stopped, I made sure I didn't leave any evidence and took off to my house, hoping I wouldn't get caught.
I woke up with a smile on my face. Today is Saturday! I wasn't usually this cheerful, I wonder what is was. I skipped to the breakfast table and kissed my parents on the cheek.
"Wow, you're in a good mood today," dad commented, surprised. I smiled.
"I don't know. I just feel like being... nice today." I helped with the chores, in and around the neighborhood. Mom was impressed. Usually, I'd be glum about it. I was in such a great mood, that I decided to call Jason. I picked up the phone, dialed his number, and waited. After the third ring, someone picked up.
"Hello?" A woman asked. I frowned.
"Uh, hi. I called to speak to Jason?".....
"Um, sorry. He doesn't want to talk right now. His dog died and we don't know how." I smiled.
"Oh, really?" I asked in my best sympathetic voice.
"Yes. When he woke up, he said he just saw the dog lying there lifelessly on his side."
"Well, I'm sure he'll get over it. He always gets over things like this." I said sweetly.
"Oh, I'm sure too. You're such a sweetheart."
"Thank you."
"Alright, I have to go. I'll tell him you called."
"Thanks again." Then I hung up. I didn't feel bad for him. A best friend's death is much more serious than a dog's death, honestly. His loss, literally. Even though he's upset, I hope he still calls me so we can talk.
Before I went to bed, I was just finishing up washing the dishes, I felt chills down my back. I noticed the window was open. How did that happen? I closed it. As I finished putting away the last dish, I heard a thump, then a slam. Who could that be? I couldn't be my parents, because they sleep earlier than me ( I don't know why). I slowly climbed the stairs, anxious at who could be making those noises. Maybe they're just raccoons, I thought. I walked in my room to find that my bedroom door open. I didn't leave that open! I closed it and checked around my room in case a burglar came in & took anything. Everything was just like it was. Then I noticed a note on my window that read:
'I know you killed my dog. This isn't over yet, Tessra.' I gulped when I was finished.
He knows I killed his dog.
