We were two old souls, since time began -
before light was measured in years.
We were stars that fell from glittering skies, to find each other here.

Nicomaine.

One sweltering hot Monday morning, Nicomaine woke up to the sound of her alarm clock buzzing as she slapped it off slightly irritated...a lady's voice said, " Hoy, tanghali Na gumising ka na dyan, late ka Na sa work mo..."

As Nicomaine abruptly sat at the edge of her bed realizing that her clock was not playing tricks on her it was indeed 7 am and she has only 20 minutes left to change and prepare for work. She sighed, and finally run towards the bathroom for a hot shower.

After her barely 10 minutes bath, she carefully chose her ensemble for her work outfit..hmmm..a blue plain blazer with a matching skirt? Or the black one with striped pants.. Oh well, she chose the blue one and added a faint yellow shirt underneath to complete the outfit..

Oh wait, she thought, what shoes do I wear..the heeled or without, nah, it doesn't matter as long as I'm not late.. She quickly did her makeup and brushed her hair as she made her way downstairs..

" Maine, do u want your breakfast? You still have time.."

" I don't know if I still can, I'm going to be late, but thank you...I gotta run see u later.."
She waved off to her elderly nanny and hurriedly left for the bus stop.

Good thing I wore my low heeled shoes today, feeling relieved. At last her five minute wait paid off when she saw the bright yellow bus coming towards her, " Hay, Salamat.." She muttered under her breath..

She made her way towards the bus stop and waved to the driver.." Kuya salamat sa paghinto ha, naku late na yata ako..", Maine gushed.

" Maaga ka naman ha, oh sya miss upo ka na..", the bus driver replied.

" Thank you po ulit.." said Maine

As Maine made her way through the aisle, she couldn't help but notice the bus was almost filled with passengers and no one seemed too eager to share a seat with her until she heard someone say, " Miss, dito ka na lang..." a deep voice with a sincere kindness to it rang out and she turned and her eyes locked deep as she gazed in his deep chocolate brown eyes, fair complexion and that to die for dimple on his left cheek as he smiled to her...

" Ah, ah th-thank you po.." Maine smiled back with those heart stopping smiles and lovely eyes..

Wait, what happened..why am I stuttering? It never happened to me before..oh well who cares as long as I have a seat and this good looking guy is sitting beside me..oh did I just say good looking?? Oh no, huwag pahalata keep your cool, girl you can do this..

Maine sat carefully beside this gentleman who was still smiling at her..

Why in the heavens, did he have to be this handsome she thought..pwede bang ikaw na lang next boyfriend ko?? I nearly laughed at my crazy thought..

" I'm Richard by the way, as he held out his hand and smiled...and you are?"

" Oh, my name is...Nicomaine..n--ni--nice to meet you.." she replied with her heart beating fast in her chest afraid that he would hear it..

Their hands shook and felt this electric intensity and they both withdraw still continuing to gaze into each other's eyes..
