Chapter Twenty
Putting my finger to my lips in attempt to remind Mel of my dad's presence, I sighed when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, "Look what you did..." I mumbled, annoyed at the fact that my dad was now curious on all the noise.
Mel mouthed sorry to me quickly, and pretended to zip her mouth closed just as my dad opened my bedroom door. Standing in the door way, a look of pure annoyance spread across his face, I couldn't help but smile at how my dad was acting, "What's up your butt this morning?" I wondered, quickly causing as smile to spread across my dad's lips.
Letting a bit of laughter slip through his lips, I smiled when a smile remained on my dad's face as he regained his composure, "Damn, was I that bad?" He wondered, raising an eyebrow.
Biting onto my lip, I stared at my dad with a blank expression for a moment, and watched as he began to worry, before I quickly smiled, "You just looked annoyed," I told him honestly, smiling brightly. When my dad sighed, I laughed lightly, "Oh, and sorry Mel practically screamed, she must have interrupted your morning coffee, correct?" I wondered.
My dad nodded, "Well, it's fine this time, but don't let it happen again monster!' My dad told me, pretending to sound firm.
Rolling my eyes, I shook my head softly, "Oh hush it!" I exclaimed, quickly reaching up, and running my hands down my hair in attempt to flatten it. My dad laughed lightly, and quickly made his way out of my bedroom, making sure to shut the door behind himself.
After hearing my dad's footsteps fall quiet, I turned to Mel, only to see her holding in her laughter. Letting out a deep breath, I glared at her, and waited for her to regain her composure. Once she was in control again, I opened my mouth to speak, only to be cut of by Mel's laughter again, "Mel, I will not tell you anything about what happened with Seth if you don't hush it!" I threatened, whichimmediately had Mel falling silent.
After explaining to Mel everything from meeting Seth in the woods, excluding all parts about Wolfy, to how Seth walked me home last night, I sat there staring at Mel, waiting for the questions I knew were about to come.
Watching as Mel threw herself onto her back over dramatically, I laughed lightly as she fanned herself, "You met him when he was naked!" She exclaimed, and when I nodded, a smirk formed across her lips, "Was he..." She began, wiggling her eyebrows.
Staring at my best friend in disbelief, I rolled my eyes, and laughed lightly. "Mel..." I mumbled, not planning on answering her, although my mind was off running as I thought about how I could barely think straight at the sight of him, I mean I can't lie to myself and say he wasn't big, becuasegod...God must have decided to bless him when he created him.
"It's a good question!" She exclaimed, interrupting my thoughts, and after a moment when she realized I wasn't going to answer she shrugged. "You know, if I didn't know better, I'd say you have feelings for this boy..." Mel spoke quietly. Feeling my cheeks heat up, I attempted to hide my face from Mel's curious eyes, which obviously wasn't successful because Mel chuckled lightly, "I'm going to take that as a yes," She informed me quickly.
Sighing softly, I couldn't fight the small smile that broke out along my lips. "How'd you get here?" I wondered, trying to change the topic.
Mel caught on to what I was attempting to do, and rolled her eyes, "Nice try Corey, but I'm not forgetting about this topic," She told me matter-of-factly.
Nodding, I laughed lightly at my friend, "Mel, just tell me how did you get here?" I demanded.
After staring at me for a few moment, Mel finally caved, and let out a deep breath, "Fine... I walked..." She told me shrugging.
"Well, come on then, I'll walk you home," I mumbled standing up from my bed, and stumbling over to my closet.
"Trying to get rid of me, eh?" Mel called out to me. Instead of turning my attention towards her, I pretended like I didn't hear what she had said. After pulling out jacket, I slid it on tight to my body, and turned around to face Mel, who was now leaning against the wall, my sketch book open in her hands, "I knew you would draw him," She beamed up at me, before she set her gaze back down on my drawing.
Mel was the only person who I openly let look at my sketches, whether it was because we've been such good friends for a while, or the fact that I completely trusted her I wasn't sure.
When Mel let her gaze shift to me again, she smiled brightly, "You must love his eyes for incorporating them in you other drawings," She spoke softly. Raising my eyebrow at her, I stood there confused for a moment, before I made my way over to where she stood. She had the page open to my drawing of Wolfy's blue eyes. Nearly laughing, and explaining to Mel how those eyes were not Seth's, but Wolfy's, I quickly stopped myself, and found myself confirming the fact that I did love Seth's eyes, not completely lying, but yet stretching the truth, by falsely claiming that I loved his eyes enough to draw them in larger scale, when in reality they were Wolfy's eyes. "I really love what you did here," She told me, pointing at the shimmer I attempted to incorporate into Wolfy's eyes.
I smiled, "Thanks," I mumbled softly, reaching out and pulling my sketch book out of her hands before she could flip one more page and see the complete drawing of Wolfy, from which I knew she would question me about. She knew how my mom was killed by a wolf, and my mom was like her second mom, so I guarantee she would almost instantly start questioning me about my animal choice, and I'm not sure I was ready to explain to my best friend that I found comfort in a wolf...
When my sketch book was safely back where it belonged, both me and Mel headed out of my room and down the stairs. When we reached the last step, I contemplated leaving without telling my dad, but decided against it when I heard him rustling around in the kitchen.
With a sigh, I quickly skipped towards the kitchen and poked my head around the corner, and smiled when my dad turned his attention towards me, "Yes?" He wondered, a single eyebrow raised with his curiosity.
"I'm gonna walk Mel home, alright?" I explained quickly, jabbing my thumb in Mel's direction.
My dad nodded quickly, lifted his coffee cup up to his lips quickly, from where he took a quick sip, and as he lowered his cup back down, he let out a sigh.
Sending my dad a wave, I blew him a kiss, "Be home soon!" I called to him as I turned around, and began heading towards the front door, Mel following shortly behind me.
"Straight home after Corey!" My dad called out to me a moment before I shut the door behind myself.
Smiling at Mel, I tightened my jacket around myself, and we began walking, "I think you should call Hunter when you home, even though it's early, I think he'll be okay with you calling him," I told Mel honestly.
Turning towards me, Mel smiled softly, "You think so?" She spoke tentatively.
I nodded, "Absolutely," I mumbled, "From what you've told me about him, I think he will totally understand why you couldn't say it back to him in that moment too...and it not he's an ass..." I mumbled, earning myself a glare from Mel. Holding my hands up in surrender, I laughed lightly, "Okay not an ass, but stupid!" I corrected myself, and Mel's intense glare lightened up slightly. As we fell into a comfortable silence, we grew closer to Mel's house, and from where we were it was obviously noticed that there was a large red truck in their driveway. "Who's truck is that?" I asked her, breaking the silence after a moment.
Mel turned towards me, and I watched as a smile rose on her face, "That would be Hunter's truck," She spoke, her excitement overflowing into her words.
I smiled and nodded, "Should I send you off from here?" I wondered as I slowed down so I wasn't walking anymore.
Mel bit into her bottom lip, and turned away from her house to face me, "What if he-" She began, but I quickly cut her off.
"For the love of God Mel, go run to him. Explain everything that you explained to me," I spoke nodding my head in the direction of the red truck where, a guy now stood.
Staring at me confused for a second, Mel finally turned her head in the direction I was hinting, and gave me one last smile before she was off running towards, who I presume was Hunter.
Hunter was attractive, if I never met Seth, I would most likely be more attracted to him than I am, the fact that I was a good distance away, I could only really pick out that he had a dark blond, almost brown hair, and was built similar to Seth, strong.
Watching as Mel came to a stop before Hunter, I smiled brightly as Hunter instantly pulled her into his arms, and buried his face into her hair. Hearing Mel squeal, I smiled once more, and turned around from where I began my short walk back to my house.
As I grew closer to my house, I kept getting the feeling of being watched, and it was beginning to creep me out.
Turning my head towards the trees once more, I jumped slightly when I noticed a pair of glowing grey eyes gazing directly at me, but in a moment's time they were gone. Feeling my fear begin to escalate, I found myself speeding up periodically, and before I knew it I was full on running back to my house.
Just as I reached my lawn, I nearly screamed as my eyes quickly glanced over the trees one final time, only to notice a confused Wolfy, sitting behind the cover to a bush with his head cocked slightly to the side.
Placing my hand to my chest as I caught my breath, I looked back at my house quickly, and after convincing myself that my dad wouldn't be expecting me for a few more minutes, I quickly hurried over to where Wolfy sat.
He whimpered slightly as I sat down in front of him and ran my fingers through his fur, "I missed you..." I mumbled softly, pausing after as if he could respond to me. Even though I knew he probably didn't understand a word I was saying, it still brought a smile to my face when he nuzzled his head towards me. Running my fingers through his fur once more, I sighed softly as bit onto my bottom lip, "You remember the dress right?" I asked him softly, earning a funny noise from Wolfy's mouth. Laughing lightly, I took that as a yes and continued talking, "Well, it went see though on me!" I exclaimed, embarrassed just thinking back on the situation, "He didn't razz me about it, most likely because I was embarrassed enough, but you know what Wolfy, I think I like him...Would it be such a bad thing? I mean I like you, and well...you're a wolf," I spoke quickly scratching Wolfy behind his ear. "Maybe my judgment on liking people isn't the best..." I mumbled quickly, earning a soft growl from Wolfy's lips, "Okay, okay! I'm sorry that was uncalled for! Gosh I swear it's like you understand me..." I mumbled the last part.
Huffing lightly, Wolfy had me hold the weight of his head with my hands as his blue eyes gazed into mine.
Sighing softly as I stared right back at him, I finally broke the gaze after a moment, and glanced in the direction my house stood, "I'm gonna head home now..." I mumbled softly, drawing my fingers through the fur around his neck once before I stood up, and began walking away.
Before I got far, a soft whimper left Wolfy's lips which had me looking back at him, and hitting my like a ton of bricks, I instantly remembered the conversation about something like soul...soul mates, I was having with Seth as he walked me home before I got distracted, it was like turning around to look at Wolfy, like I had done with Seth the night before flipped a switch in my mind. Staring at Wolfy's confused expression, I smiled lightly, blew him a kiss and turned towards my house once more.

So anyways, I was planning on not uploading for a while, because I am going on a short term mission trip tomorrow, so I won't be able to write for a few days, but I decided I wouldn't do that to you guys and threw this together quickly, so ignore any mistakes you may find!
Anywho, you should know by now that I dislike strongly making you guys wait for the next upload, and I honestly wish I could upload everyday for you guys, but I can't and I'm sorry about that. I really don't want to work on something that people aren't enjoying (and letting me know they enjoy it). So, if you want to see me update this a bit quicker, really the only thing I am asking is that I see a response coming from this... so, if you want the next chapter really soon....VOTE and COMMENT on this chapter!
