Chad and I had formed our plan which would begin the next morning at breakfast. I knew I didn't want to go over board with making Jackson jealous, the whole point of it was to make him realize I wasn't someone who was going to wait around. If he decided to keep ignoring me for whatever reason, I was just going to have to leave. I looked at myself in the mirror, I had taken extra time to make myself up and straightened my hair. Hearing a knock on the door, I quickly applied some lipstick and went to open the door. Chad smiled as I closed the door behind me.

"You look amazing." I smiled, hoping Jackson would think the same. We walked downstairs to the dining room. Pack members were just going about their day, I had yet to be introduced to many of them but Charles was going to host an introduction ceremony to officially make me part of the Indigo pack. Chad and I sat down at one of the tables as a red headed girl came to serve us breakfast.

"Luna." She bowed politely

"Please just call me Sophie." I said as she put our food in front of us, she simply smiled and nodded before walking away to continue serving the rest of the Pack. I looked around, noticing that Jackson was not around, I felt my nerves rise with anticipation.

"Relax Sophie." Chad chuckled.

"Is it really that obvious?" Chad nodded as he took a bite of his toast., "Mhmm"

I sighed, I really should relax. No point in acting so anxious if Jackson wasn't even here.

"Ok, well how about you tell me something
strange about yourself."

"Strange? Ok," Chad took a sip of his orange juice while he thought over what to tell me,"I love tomatoes, but I hate ketchup."

I laughed "Oh yeah? Here's something strange, I can't put my shoes on unless I check and make sure there are no bugs inside them."

"Pssh! That's just being a girl." Chad and I continued to talk and eat our breakfast, I couldn't believe Jackson was related to him. They were so different, if it wasn't for their physical appearance, I would have never guessed they were brothers. Chad was more laid back, funny, and kind. I wonder if Jackson use to be this way instead of being so tense and uptight.

"Hey Chad, did something happen to make Jackson the way he is?" I asked hesitantly, not knowing whether it was appropriate or not. Chad leaned close to me which caused me to do the same.

"We should talk somewhere a little more private." Chad tilted his head towards the direction of someone, I quickly took a peek and saw a seething Jackson sitting two tables away from us with Becca. How long had he been there? I quickly nodded and we both stood up and left.

Once we were outside Chad started laughing, "That was great! You should of seen his face"

I rolled my eyes and smiled "I didn't even realize he was there!" Chad slung his arm across my shoulder and smiled. The wolf in me felt slightly uncomfortable, not liking that a guy who wasn't our mate, was touching us. Relax.

"Well, That's why you did so great!" Chad laughed as he let go of me and put his hands in his pockets as we walked towards the creek.

Jackson's P.O.V

I felt my anger rise at the sight of Chad and Sophie laughing and having a good time together. What the hell was he even doing with her? I clenched my hands and tried to calm myself as Becca and I sat down.

"Jackson, I'm sure its nothing." Becca laid a hand over my arm and looked at me with concern. I shrugged her off, I knew she was trying to get me to calm down but she was only making me feel more irritated. I looked over at Chad and Sophie, they were leaning a little too close to each other. One of the servers brought us our breakfast and left quickly, probably realizing I wasn't in a very good mood. I felt my wolf threaten to come out, Becca cleared her throat and gave me a hard look. Running a hand through my hair, I sighed and tried to calm my wolf down by breathing in and out.

Becca was probably right, Sophie probably wanted to get to know my family better. I looked back at Sophie, She looked different than usual, good different. I watched as my brother leaned into Sophie a little too much for my liking. Anger shot throughout my body as I heard him say. "We should talk somewhere a little more private."

Sophie nodded and they got up to leave. I fought the urge to go after her, I didn't want her. I kept telling myself in my head. She looked amazing, Why could Chad make her laugh so easily?

"Because you don't even try." Becca gave me a knowing look. Shoot, did I say that out loud? I groaned and stabbed my fork into my pancakes. "Sheesh, don't take it out on the pancakes, it is your fault."

I glared at Becca. "I haven't done anything!" Becca rolled her eyes at me.

"You are so stupid sometimes, that's exactly why it's your fault! Because you haven't done anything to show her you deserve her." Becca shook her head at me, I knew she was right, but I didn't want to admit it. I stood up and left the dining area, I needed to talk to someone.

"Hello son, what can I do for you?" My father looked up from behind his computer.

"I'm having trouble with Sophie." I sat down on one of the leather seats.

My dad looked at me and sighed already knowing what this was about, "Jackson, Sophie isn't your mother. She's a good person and she's whose been chosen as your mate."

"Yeah, but mom was your mate and look how that turned out!"

"Jackson, your mother and I weren't mates in the same way you and Sophia are."

"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.

"There was never truly a bond, it was more of an arranged marriage. I gave your mom a chance and wanted her to be my Luna, but she had already found her mate"

"What the hell? Why didn't you ever tell me this before?"

"I just didn't think it would of affected you this much, and she's the reason I have you boys. The last thing I wanted was for you to feel insecure." I looked at my dad as he came and sat next to me, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Just remember, Sophia isn't like your mother, she wants you to be her mate. Why not accept her?"

I buried my face into my hands. This was a lot to take in but he was right, I was just being a coward and running away from the one person who was suppose to be mine. The one person who was willing to do anything for me even if I hurt her. I ran out of my father's office, I had to find Sophie. It was time for me to man up and show her that I wasn't going to let her go.

Sophie's P.O.V

Chad and I sat by the creek, he had finished telling me the tale of what happened with their mother. It finally made sense to me. Why Jackson was hesitant about me and about having a mate in general. His mother had run away from Charles, leaving him with two sons, and then went to another pack accusing Charles of domestic abuse, but why? Charles seemed like such a good man, there had to be more behind the story. Chad stared at me, he looked like he was hiding something but the strange look he gave me disappeared as soon as we heard footsteps behind us.

"Chad, can you give us some time alone?" Jackson said as he appeared from the trees. Chad looked at me with a questioning look, I simply nodded and he got up to leave. I turned my head, not completely sure how to face Jackson after hearing his families past.

"Look Sophie, I'm sorry for acting the way I did." Jackson looked up and sighed, "Ever since my mother left us, I just thought having a mate would only bring trouble."

I nodded and smiled sadly, "I'm not going to do that to you. I know I was thinking about running away for a while but only because I felt like you hated me. I still thought I needed to give you a fair shot to be able to judge whether running away was even a good idea. Now I know the reason you acted the way you did, it's because you're still hurting."

"I'm sorry that your mom ran away like she did. You and Chad didn't deserve that." I moved my hand closer to his. Jackson laid his hand over mine, "I want to mark you Sophie" he said as he moved closer to me. I moved closer, still somewhat hesitant. Even though I now knew the reasoning behind why Jackson was the way he was, I was still hurt for the way he had been treating me for so long. It wasn't fair to me, I felt my eyes tear up as I finally looked back at him.

"I'm sorry, I promise that I'll be better." Jackson brushed my hair from my face, "How do I know you won't keep hurting me?"

Jackson lifted my chin, my eyes finally met his. He leaned in and kissed me softly. As he pulled away he kept my gaze, "I can't guarantee that I won't hurt you, I know I can be an asshole." He chuckled softly to himself, "I will prove that I deserve you, Sophie, I promise."

Suddenly it felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted, I felt more tears coming as Jackson pulled me into him.

"If it's ok with you, I want to mark you now." I nodded as I wrapped my arms around Jackson's neck to pull him closer, he began to leave a trail of kisses as he made his way down to my neck. I shivered as I felt his canines elongate. This was it, I would officially be Jackson's mate. "Jackson!" Someone yelled. Jackson paused and I groaned as I saw Chad come out from the forest of trees. Way to ruin the moment, "There are rogues along the border of our territory" Jackson glared at Chad and stood up.

"I'm sorry Sophie, We'll finish this later" Jackson kissed me before leaving. Chad gave me a look and mouthed "Sorry" before going after Jackson. I sighed and stood up.

"He couldn't of waited one more minute?" I said as I watched them go.

Chad's P.O.V

"You did well, guess you weren't as useless as I thought you were."

I glared at Serena and growled "I don't want you to hurt anyone."

"Oh, but where's the fun in that?" I snarled at the woman in front of me.

"You better watch it Chad, I came with only one purpose. You will do what I say or I will have your pretty little mate killed."

"I hate you."

Serena grinned wickledly "Now that's no way to talk to your mother, is it?"
