I walked into the house around five after I had finished shooting. It was going to be a late night for my dad tonight, so I had Karsyn give me a ride home. As she pulled up to our house she smiled and said, "Have you called Jake today yet?" Jake? Oh my gosh, Jake? I forgot I was going to video call him?!
"Oh no! I need to go video chat him!" I ran into the house yelling, "That's for the ride Kary!"
"No problem darlin!"
I walked inside and threw my bag by the front door as it slammed. I saw my mom come around the corner from the kitchen with her arms reached out as if she was going to give me a hug when I rushed right passed her.
"Well hello to you too..."
"Sorry! I promised Jake I'd video call him!"
"Oh! I see." She walked back to the kitchen but I didn't look to see what she was doing.
I hurried to grab my iPad to call him. It ringed for about three times before he answered.
"Hey beautiful!" I suddenly got emotional when I saw his face. Just seeing him made me forget every feeling I thought I had for Colton. Jake was mine, and the one I wanted to be with.
"Jake! Oh my gosh I'm so happy to actually see your face!"
"You don't understand how hard this is for me. I can see you, but I don't get to wrap you in my arms and hold you. If I wasn't coming down next weekend, I'd fly up there anyway!" He laughed, but I could tell how serious he was.
"Well no one is stopping you! Jake, I can't believe tomorrow it'll be five weeks?"
"I know! Five weeks is way too long for me to not be with my girl."
"Haha I just love you." I could tell I was blushing but I didn't care. I had so much I wanted to talk to him about. I just prayed he didn't bring up Colton. "How's basketball been going?"
"Pretty good. I can dunk the ball now, and next Saturday is our first game. You should come home one of these weekends and come to one?" He sounded super hopeful.
"I would love that! I'll have to talk to the writer's and see when I can come home."
"That would be awesome." He paused for a second. "So how's your Canada boyfriend?" He smirked a little, but I could tell he truly wanted to know what's been going on.
"Gosh, you had to bring him up?" I rolled my eyes, "Well, he's super nice and a great guy. We filmed our first scene together today."
"Is he as handsome as me?" He chuckled.
"Never! No one is." I said winking at him.
"That's my girl." He said, obviously pleased. "So how's school going?"
"Insane! The first three weeks I was here I did five months worth of school work. I have my finals in two weeks and then I'm done. I won't have to go back to school until this fall when I'm back in Texas."
"Hopefully..." He said somewhat under his breath.
"Trust me Jake, I plan on this being my first and only acting job. This just isn't for me."
"I'm so happy to hear that honestly."
I could hear Aunt Gen in the background, "TOM! JAKE! WE'RE EATING!" Jake was still staying with the Padalecki's, and he and Tom turned our second bonus room upstairs into a giant loft for the two of them.
"Hey, beautiful. I gotta go eat. Can I call you tomorrow morning before I go to school?"
I laughed because of how early I'd have to be awake. "Alright, why don't you call me at seven your time? Then we can talk for about 40 minutes before you have to go to school? And then I can watch the sunrise while we talk."
"Sounds good. Uh! I wish I was there with you. We could sit together and watch it rise. I can't even wait to see you next weekend."
"I know. Me too. You better go eat."
"Yeah, Gen will kill me."
"I love you." I said not wanting to hang up.
"I love you too."
He ended the video call blowing me a kiss and I returned one back to him. I suddenly heard a knock at the door. I looked at the clock, 5:24 PM. Who could that be?
I walked out of my room and saw my mom answer the door.
It was Colton...
"Hi, is JJ here?" He said as I walked up to the door. "Oh hey JJ. Do you want to hang out tonight?"
"Um, sure." I turned to my mom, "Is that okay?"
"Sure. You're father won't be home until after midnight so you kids have fun."
I grabbed my coat and followed Colton out. "See yah later mom."
Colton walked me out to his car. Of course, a brand new porsche. He opened my door for me and then walked around to his side. I was super nervous because I hadn't told him that I had a boyfriend yet.
He started his car, and began backing out of our driveway. "So, you cool with just coming to my place and hanging tonight. My mom's making homemade pizza, and I thought it would be fun to get to know you."
I couldn't help but think, Get to know me, or get with me?
"That sounds fun." I said trying to sound excited. I think he could tell I wasn't sincere though.
"Look, JJ, I know what you're thinking. The only thing I want is to get to know you tonight. That's it. Are you okay with that?"
"Yeah, sounds good to me." I still wasn't too excited about the whole thing.
"Well, my house is about twenty five minutes from here. What do you want to talk about?"
"I'm not sure. Ask me anything." I said, realizing I just gave him permission to know anything about me.
"Okay. Let's start off simple. What's you're name?"
I was so confused. "My name? You know my name, it's JJ."
He chuckled. "No, you're full name."
"Oh, um, Justice Jay Ackles. You could have just googled that though."
"True. But I wanted to hear it from you." He said smirking. The longer I was with him, the more and more nervous I got.
The entire ride to his house we talked about me. I still knew nothing about him. As we had been driving, we weren't in the suburbs any longer. There were pine trees surrounding us in every direction, and eventually we turned off the highway and onto a long dirt road that looked like it could go for miles. We continued on this road for another ten minutes until we reached his house. It was an extremely large ranch house. He pulled his car into a side garage not connected to the house. There was a door to exit the garage, and a hall of stairs leading to what seemed to be an attic.
"Come on. Follow me. Abby's upstairs." Abby? Who the heck is Abby?
I followed him upstairs where there was a girl who looked to be my age. Jake turned to me at the doorway and whispered to me, "Oh, by the way, don't mention me being on the show. Right now, to Abby, I'm just an intern learning about the business. Can you just keep quiet about it, for me?"
I was so confused, but I didn't care. "Sure."
As we walked into the room, I could tell Colton's dad had a lot of money. And I mean a lot. In this room was three giant couches forming a square facing one of the walls where a nine eight foot flat screen TV was mantled on. There was a pool, and air hockey table too, as well as what appeared to be his bed, and a love seat next to a desk.
I saw who I thought was Abby on the love seat next to his bed holding a little girl. She couldn't have been more than a year old. Colton walked over to her and grabbed the little girl from her arms.
"How's my little sis?" he said throwing her in the air and catching her.
Abby looked up at me making Colton look up as well, "Oh I'm so rude," he said cuddling the little girl in his arms. "JJ, meet my girlfriend Abby, and my little sister, Lilly."
Abby looked at me funny. I swear I had seen her before, I just can't remember where.
"Hang on wait. You said her name's JJ?" Abby said getting up from her seat. "JJ what's your last name?"
"Um, JJ Ackles?"
"Oh. My. Gosh!" She jumped up and down in excitement. Now I was a little freaked out. "You're Jake's girlfriend right?"
I started piecing everything together. She knew Jake. Her name's Abby. She lived in Vancouver. "Oh my gosh yes! You're his cousin huh?" I was so excited and ran to give her a hug.
"Yes! I'm so excited to finally meet you! How do you know Colton?"
"Oh... um, I uh, work with him. He works for our studio." I felt bad lying to her.
"Yeah, I'm Jared's Assistant." Colton said putting his sister on the floor to play with some toys.
"Wait, so you're dating Jake? Like the one from Texas?" he paused for a sec and then said, "Well duh, that makes sense since you're from there."
"Yeah, we've been together for almost six months now. He already talks about getting married though."
"Colton's the same way." She said giggling and wrapping her arms around him. "Even though he just graduated last spring and wants to move on with life, I still have my junior year and senior year to finish."
Colton just smiled, "Well the second you step off that podium with your diploma at your graduation I'm gonna put a rock on that finger of yours." She leaned up to kiss and him and said, "Nothing would make me happier."
I looked down to see Jake was calling me. "Hey it's him. I'm gonna take this. I'll be back in a sec."
I walked downstairs into the garage. "Hey babe. Did you just finish eating?"
"JJ, this is Tom. I'm sorry to call you so late... but Jake was just rushed to the ER. His appendix burst but their thinking he has a tumor in his stomach as well... but we're not sure yet."
"Wait what? He was fine forty five minutes ago? Tell me what happened?" I could feel the tears fill my eyes.
"We were playing basketball and he fell to the ground with a stomach ache. I had him lay down on our couch for ten minutes and after it kept hurting him, I drove him to the Emergency Room. He went through immediate surgery to remove his appendix and now he's in recovery. However, they're worried he has a tumor in his small intestine."
I couldn't even talk. I broke out into tears to the point where I couldn't even stand. I fell to my knees and put my hand over my mouth to hold in the sobs. I knocked over a bike that had Colton running downstairs worried. He and Abby saw that I was a mess.
Colton set the bike back up and Abby took the phone from me, handing it to Colton.
He awkwardly answered. I curled into Abby and just continued to sob getting tears and other grossness all over her. She wrapped her arms around me. Colton started talking to Tom.
"Hey this is Colton. I work with JJ. She's crying here on the floor. What's going on." I figured Tom told him because Colton didn't know what to say. "Alright, I'm going to get her in my dad's copter and she'll be there by midnight Vancouver time." He paused probably listening to Tom. "Alright thanks man."
I looked up at him. "Wait what? We have work tomorrow?"
"We can hold off on your scenes until Monday. That'll give you four days with him to figure things out."
I was still bawling my eyes out and got up to hug him. "Thank you so much Colton."
"Colt, you take her to the airport. I'll stay here with Lilly until your parents get home."
He walked over to kiss her and walked me to his house. "My dad's helicopter is in the back on the landing. I can fly you to the airport and then you can have your dad's jet take you home. Do you think he would care?"
"I don't even care right now. The guy I love is in a life or death situation."
We hopped into his helicopter and were to the Vancouver Air Port after twenty minutes. I didn't even care to go home and grab any clothes. I still had a ton of clothes back home and if I needed something I'd just get it when I was home.
I had called Harold on our way there. He hurried to meet us at the airport and luckily our jet was already there as well. Colton landed and I hurried to the jet.
Harold already had it running and was ready to take off the second I got there.
We made it back to Texas super fast. Faster than I would have imagined. It only took us five hours, and Tom was waiting for us at the airport to take us to the hospital. Harold decided to come with me in case I needed anything.
When we got to the hospital I saw Jake was asleep on his bed. And I didn't think I had any left, but tears began to fill my eyes and run down my face. I got up on the bed with him and wrapped my arms around his and started to cry in his arms.
He turned in his sleep waking up, looked at me and said, "Jay? What are you doing here"
