(Ayu’s POV)
“Ayu ah! Come down and eat with me!”
I lock the door to the guest room. Today was Jiyong’s birthday and I wanted to make it perfect.
“okay! Wait a few minutes!”
I grab all the party items and stuff it into the closet. As I head downstairs he waits for me there sitting at the table like an excited puppy.
“Ayu ah, I was waiting for so long..”
“Calm down. It only took a minute.” I say as I sit down. He pours gravy on my potatoes.
“So.....how about we go and have lunch together after this?” He says.
I nod then stop.
Shoot. I have to decorate the house with the party items.
I shake my head quickly.
“Sorry, I have something to do...”
He nods but I could see him frowning a bit. It made me feel guilty, but I had to make this birthday special.
I eat my share and get up from the chair. He looks at me trying to eat faster.
“Wait ayu ah-”
“I’ll be upstairs!” I say running up the stairs.
I head towards the room and take out a piece of paper and pencil. Time to draw a blueprint of what it would look like.
(GD’s POV)
I sit there on the dining table. Still a bit pouty, I decide to forgive her by suprising her.
As I sneak up the pair of stairs, I slowly put my ear to the door.
kekeke, this is gonna suprise ayu.
As I slowly turn the door knob, I hear a voice.
“Okay i’ll meet you then!”
I freeze.
Who is she meeting? Is that why she cancelled our lunch date?!?
Curious to know more, I listen but hear footsteps instead.
Ayu comes out of the door, and I stand there, frozen.
Ayu looks at me and jumps back with suprise.
“Jiyong ah! Did you hear everything?”
I stand still.
“Well....no not really....what were you talking about? Who’s that?”
She looks at me nervously and twiddles her thumbs.
“Um...nothing! It’s no one really!” She says with a half nervous smile across her face. She makes it downstairs and heads towards the door.
I look at her.
“Yah! Where you going?”
“Nowhere!”
She heads out the door without another word.
What’s wrong with her? She’s acting so strange....
I take out my phone. Maybe I should ask my friends for help.
(Ayu’s POV)
I make a small sigh as I grab a taxi.
That was close.
The taxi stops and I give him the money.
I look at the sign on the store.
Yummy’s Bakery.
Smiling I head inside.
The bell on the door rings and the baker turns to see who it is. He gives a jolly laugh.
“Oh! Are you the one who called for a special cake?”
I smile giving him a thumbs up.

Taking the cake in my arms I head joyfully to the taxi. Thinking of how suprised jiyong would be made me happy.....wait.
How am I gonna get in the house without him noticing the cake?
I think really hard.
“I can just put it in my house.” I say thinking it was a great idea.
As I hop off the taxi I head towards my house, but I hear a door open to Jiyong’s house.
“Ayu ah!”
I had to think quick.
Then, the mailman passed by. I grab him and whisper to him:
“Stand still and hold this cake.”
Luckily I knew the mailman very well so he smiles and listens to what I said.
We make it into my house without Jiyong noticing.
As soon as Jiyong closes the door to his house I thank the mailman and head towards Jiyong’s house again.
(GD’s POV)
*Ring ring*
Hello?
“Hi CL, It’s me, Jiyong.”
“Ah oppa! What’s up?”
I pause. Taking a deep breath I begin to speak.
“I think Ayu’s been acting a bit strange.”
CL: “Hmmm...how?”
Jiyong:“I don’t know...she just started to kind of avoid me today and acted really nervous and stuff around me.”
CL: “ Really? Where is she now?”
Jiyong: “I don’t know. She just left all of a sudden..”
CL: “Oppa, let me ask you a question: Did she talk to anyone today?”
Jiyong: “Yes....um..kind of..”
CL: “Secretly?”
Jiyong: “……yeah.”
CL: “…………”
As I wait for her to reply I hear a taxi come by. Then I see ayu. As I head out the door I hear CL talking again.
“Oppa, that could only mean one thing-”
I wave at Ayu, but then I stop. She was with another man, and she had her arms around his waist. They make it into her house.
I watch silently as I hear CL say her last word.
“She is cheating on you.”
(Ayu’s POV)
I ring the doorbell, and the door opens immediately as jiyong grabs my hand and pulls me in.
He pulls me to a wall and looks at me seriously.
“Ayu....where were you?”
I look at him and gulp.
“At.....the mall...”
He looks at me with scary eyes.
What’s wrong with him?
I reach out to touch Jiyong’s cheek.
“Jiyong ah...what’s wrong?”
His expression softens and he looked like he was about to cry.
“Who....was that man, next to you?”
I froze.
Oh. So it was that. I looked like I was cheating.
I give a small laugh.
he looks at me confused.
“Why are you laughing?”
I pinch his cheeks.
“Aigoo....because it’s not what you’re thinking about.”
As I still pinch his cheeks he looks at me doubtfully.
I sigh.
“Here. Wait for me, I’ll be right back.”
I head out the door and bring back the birthday cake.
He looked at it suprised and relieved.
I grin.
“Happy birthday, pabo yah.”
(GD’s POV)
Happy birthday pabo yah.
She puts the cake down and takes out candles.
“So you mean....that phone call...and the mysterious leaving...”
“Yes. It was all part of my birthday suprise for you.”
I couldn’t believe it. She wasn’t cheating on me.
As she lits the candles I wraps my arms around her back.
“So....you’re not cheating?”
She lifts up the lighter towards my face.
“ Jangnanhae? I would never cheat on you.”
As she puts the lighter down I finally reach a smile on my face.
She sighs.
“And I wanted to make this the best birthday for you....”
I grin widely. I grab her waist and pull her towards me.
“You kidding? This was the best one i’ve had in years!”
She laughs.
“Really? But I don’t have a present! Shoot! I forgot...”
I hug her tighter.
“It’s okay. The only gift I want is you.”
She pushes me away looking at me in disgust.
“ewww...that line was so cheesy..”
I force her back into my arms.
“Well it’s true.” I say pouting a bit.
“Happy birthday...Jiyong ah..”
I smile.
“Gomawo. Happy birthday to me too.”
