charlotte pov
hanna wanted to celebrate the new found peace within the love triangle so we all went to the rear window brew. it's some type of coffee house.
"so if emily boxes, then you?" hanna said.
"am her manager pretty much."
"uh huh. so in other words...you're weaker?" hanna said and i felt a pang in my chest. she's flirting with him...
"yes."
"no." emily and caleb spoke at the same time.
i giggled and so did alison.
"okay then. arm wrestle. right here. right now." hanna said.
i smirked, he is gonna lose to emily.
"works for me. ready to lose little brother?"
"i think the question is are you ready to lose?"
they got ready and alison said, "ready, set, go!"
emily slammed his arm down and caleb yelped and fell out of his chair.
we all laughed at him and when he got up and sat down again he huffed, "okay she's stronger. whatever. she boxes."
"i bet i'm stronger than you." i challenged.
alison shot her eyes to me widely.
i didn't look at her though.
caleb chuckled, "you sure you want to?"
"why not? i don't mind winning."
hanna made an "oooh." sound and i looked up at her and grinned.
she smirked and mouthed, "beat his ass."
i nodded and we got ready.
"ready, set, go!"
i pushed down and focused on pushing harder and i heard caleb working up a sweat.
"shit." he muttered.
i smirked and hanna cheered, "go cece!"
i slammed his hand down and he grunted, "damn it!"
i laughed and hanna hugged me, "i knew you'd beat him!" she kissed my cheek and i instantly heated up.
the place where she kissed me now burned but i enjoyed it.
alison must have noticed because her and emily giggled.
i glared at the two of them and to my disappointment, when i turned back around, she was gone.
and by gone i mean sitting next to caleb.
i thought she said he was using her to get back at my sister?
alison pov
when i was sitting next to emily i felt a hand touch my thigh and i squealed and jumped.
i looked at emily with a scowl and she chuckled.
"everything okay?" hanna asked.
i looked at her and smiled, "huh? oh yeah everything is just great." emily yelped out when i said great, because i kicked my heel into her calf.
charlotte laughed, knowing what was going on and hanna and caleb were very confused.
"right em?" i said.
she nodded, "peachy."
i grinned and looked at her.
she tried not to laugh and i rolled my eyes but smiled.
"i love you." she whispered in my ear and traced circles on my thigh.
i giggled, "i love you too." i said and leaned over to kiss my girlfriend.
"and i love you too." charlotte leaned over the table, making a kissy face and i laughed, "funny."
hanna laughed, "it was funny."
"okay. emily and i have plans. charlotte, wanna tag along?" i questioned.
"no. she's hanging out with me. caleb, leave." hanna said and stood up.
charlotte smiled widely and caleb groaned, "fine. i'll go...find a girl or something."
"ha! good luck with that." emily said and i laughed as he left after paying for his coffee.
i looked at charlotte, "so you're both good?" i asked.
hanna nodded, "yeah. we have some catching up to do. right char?"
charlotte nodded and i grinned, "great. see you guys later tonight. not too late. it's almost sundown. keep your phones on. okay?" i said and the nodded obediently.
i took emily's hand and she led me out of the brew.
"so. where are we off to?" i asked.
"someplace special." she said and winked at me.
"and that is?"
"come." we got in her car and drove.
we drove for a good 5 minutes until we reached the school.
"ew emily. what's wrong with you?"
she laughed and shook her head, "trust me. it's nice. and i want to show you something."
i sighed and nodded.
we got in, somehow...emily snuck us in and she typed a code into the vending machine and i gasped when it opened, "are you crazy? emily there are cameras!"
she laughed, "they're broken."
"how do you know?!" i said, panicking.
she chuckled and stood up, putting snacks and drinks into her bag.
"because i broke them. come on."
she took my hand and i groaned as we kept moving.
"what are we doing in a library you nerd?"
she laughed, "relax. there's something i need to get first."
she took me to a section and grabbed a book, but too quick so that i couldn't see what the title was.
"just a little farther."
she walked to a door, "nice."
she pushed it open and i saw a ladder.
"what the hell are we supposed to be doing on that?"
she shrugged, "climbing it."
"no way. not a change. no thank you." i said and turned to leave but emily grabbed me by my jacket, "don't be a pansy. you gotta live a little dilaurentis. come on." she held her hand out from the ladder and i looked around, feeling nervous.
but i caved and grabbed her hand.
she pulled me up and i climbed the ladder until emily shoved a latch open and i was met with the cold january air.
"it's cold as bricks." i said and emily laughed, "yeah. but it's nice." she closed the latch door after i was fully on the roof of our school.
since our school is tall, we can almost see the whole town.
"wow." i said and walked to the edge to get a better view.
"i know right?"
"do you always come up here?" i asked, noticing of how well she knew how to get here. and there is a blanket and pillow on the ground...or roof.
"yeah."
i frowned, "emily...don't tell me you sleep here."
she chuckled, "nah. only when i run away."
i looked at her in disapproval, "emily-"
"it's fine. i only run away when my parents piss me off. i sleep up here, or in the air vents."
i sighed and closed my eyes, "next time come to me. please."
she nodded and took a bag of doritos out of her backpack.
"chips?" she offered and i nodded, taking them and opening it.
"so. what was the book you took?"
"my favorite." she said and showed it to me.
"great expectations...charles dickens...funny." i said and let out a light laugh.
"what?" emily said.
i looked up to meet her eyes, "it's my favorite too."
"have you ever finished it?"
i shook my head, "i just love the plot. estella and pip..."
"want me to tell you what happens? i can make you a cheat sheet." she teased and winked.
i giggled, "sure."
"well. pip gets estella in the end." she informed me, with a quirk of the eyebrow.
"can i read you something?"
i nodded to her and she smiled, "i loved her against reason-"
"against promise, against peace. against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be." i finished with her.
emily grinned at me, "you know it."
"my favorite quote ever. it's raw and romantic."
"and it shows what true love is really all about. an unconditional love against everything."
i smiled, watching as emily got so into her words.
i really hope i get married to this girl one day.
she's make a great wife.
and maybe eventually a mother too.
