Chapter 17: Before the carnage
We got Angie to shadow cloak us to the village. It wasn’t very impressive; it was just made up of wooden huts with straw roofs, but there was a big hut in near the village square. Kai told us that the big hut is the chief’s house, and the place where we’re supposed to report.
We entered the hut and it was bigger on the inside, but we had to bend over to not get our heads bonked by the door. The chief sat on a throne, drinking from a coconut and was being fanned by servants with banana leaves, he was dressed in a grass skirt and wore a crown made out of bird feathers.
He looked at Kai and said, “So, you’re here? Show me your badge,”
Kai then took a badge with a gold D on it and showed it to the chief. “Hmm, seems legit, now I want you to go to this tunnel were our caravans pass through, there seems to be a disturbance there, caravans go in, we heard screaming, we find their caravan destroyed and the victims missing along with the supplies. This has been going on for four weeks, the last team that came didn’t make it, they were supposed to escort the caravan, hope you guys find them and the caravan,”
“Wait, last team?” Joel asked.
The chief replied “Yes, three humans, one half bull folk , some sort of half-blooded freak, and a witch,”
“Team Gemini was here?” said Julia
“Yes, they didn’t come back, it’s been two weeks, and we believe that they are either captured or dead,”
“If Team Gemini couldn’t handle it, wonder if we can…” said Angie.
“Who cares? We finish the job, find Team Gemini, and bam! Insta fame return,” said Fox, “After all, the author is going to make sure that this series gets epic, like the Percy Jackson books,”
I got confused by the word ‘author’, I wanted to ask but Angie explained, “Fox for the last time this is the real world not some silly kid’s book!”
“It’s not a kid’s book! It’s a million words long novel!”
Angie then whispered to me, “Man, that fox is crazy,”
