Hanna hated walking home from school
Her mother worked till 3:30 and her father worked till 5:00. Her grandma lived with them but she didn't like driving. So Hanna walked.
But after the summer of 2015 she noticed that every school day, there was a red minivan parked by her house.
After a week of seeing this van by her house she decided to ask her Grandma about it. she threw her backpack to the side and slammed the door with her foot, "Hey Grandma!" "Yes dear?" "What's with the van by our house." Her Grandma walked into the room. "Spies!"
Hanna rolled her eyes. "Don't be silly! why would someone spy on US? we're boring as... as.... something really boring!"
Her grandmother laughed. "Maybe YOU are. I'm not as boring as you think."
Hanna sighed. Her grandmother was always saying silly things like, "The toaster is alive!" or "The TV spoke to me!"
But this wasn't exactly like the other things.
It was like a clue, a piece to a puzzle, a..... Hanna suddenly got extremely hungry and went to grab a pb & j.
In mid bite she heard the door open. "Mofm youf ared ome!"
Translation: mom! you are home!
Hanna's mother wasn't smiling.
"Hanna, go pack your bags!"
Hanna frowned "why."
Her grandma shoved the toaster into a floral patterned bag. "You heard your mother! go pack! don't ask questions!"
Hanna nodded, "What about dad?
Her mother smiled. "We'll wait for him. don't worry."
Hanna walked up the stairs. what was going on?
