~Niall’s POV~                      (NOT EDITED)

“WOOOOOO! Go Lycia!” Dawn and I were stood at the gate of the track, it was the last lap that the racers had to take and Lycia was in the lead. Behind Lycia was Zayn and followed by Zayn was that guy Ly was talking to who Dawn said his name was Aaron.

“Come on Zayn! Let’s go!” I do realize that racing is very dangerous, but no one really knows that I’ve been doing it since I was fourteen.

“Look! Look! Niall she’s almost to the finish line!” Dawn said excitedly, tugging on my arm. She was so happy and excited. Every time they passed by us Dawn would jump up and down pointing an laughing, acting as though she was a child. I can say that she looked undeniably cute. Her hair was swishing in the wind and the make-up that she had applied made her look even more stunning then she did before. I usually don’t like girls who put make-up on but she looked so incredible. “What?” I got pulled out of my thoughts by Dawn staring at me, looking at me questioningly.

“Uh hmmm?” Was my brilliant response.

“You were staring at me like there was something on my face… Do I have something on my face?!” Her hands went to her face, rubbing her cheeks and around her eyes.

“No, nothing. I was just looking at your make up…” I pulled her hands down as she looked at me like I was a mad man.

“My make-up? Oh, my make-up.” Realization came onto her facial features. “Yeah, Lycia did it for me. Does it look bad?”

“No not at al-“

“O My GOSH! Lycia won! Ahhhhh!” She screamed and jumped up and down hugging me. We laughed and headed down to where they were setting their bikes.

“Ey mate. Losing to a girl doesn’t suit you well.” I joked with Zayn.

“Hey! That’s not fair she kept getting in my zone! I should have won.” He pouts as Dawn and Lycia come our way.

“Hey Zayn, how does it feel to lose to your girlfriend.” Dawn laughs after she asked her question.

“Dawn, it’s better than what you can do!” He retorts as Lycia laughs and goes to hug him.

“Babe she doesn’t know how to ride, of course she can’t beat you. But if she learned I bet she can.” With a wink to Dawn, Lycia and Zayn walk away with Zayn trying to convince her that he let her win. Not at all convincing her though.

“You know, I learned how to ride when I was about twelve. Then I stopped…” Her face fell a little. Absentmindedly I wrapped her in my arms and asked,

“Why’d you stop?”

“Because stuff happened. I do want to get back on the bike, but I’m a little afraid.”

“Well how about we get you back on it. I’ll be right by your side when you do.” She looked up at me and smiled.

“I’d like that.”

An hour latter me and Dawn are back in the house watching the telly. She mumbles something incoherent and starts to drifts of to sleep.

“Dawn. Let’s go up to your room.” She shakes her head ‘No’ and leans against my shoulder. Her head falling on my chest. “I guess…” I heaved her up into a bridal position and took her to her bedroom. Pulling the blankets up. I tucked her in and kissed her on the forehead.

“Goodnight Dawn.”

“Night Ni.” I turn back to her with a shock.

“You were awake the whole time?!” She grinned and nodded her head. “Sneaky little one, you are.” She giggled and closed her eyes again.

“Thanks Ni.”

“No problem.” Walking out of her room, I smiled to myself. ‘Cheeky little one.’

Last night was amazing. Except for reliving the past of my motorcycle days. Those days were filled with good memories and bad. I loved the good ones, but the bad one’s where the ones I hated.  I’d love to get back on that bike again, but I don’t know if I’m ready to relive it.

After waking up to the bright sun light streaming through my lavender fluorescent curtains, I got up, took a quick shower, brushed my hair and teeth, put on a pink long sleeved shirt that read ‘ORLANDO FLORIDA’ in black letters with dark jeans and my floral flats.

“Hey Dawn.” Niall says with a smile after I walk down to see them on the couch.

“Hey Ni!”

“Dawn what are you going to do today?” Liam asks while tugging on his shirt.

“Umm. I really don’t know. Why?”

“Well I was just wondering if you wanted to come with me an-“Niall interrupts Liam before he finishes asking what he was going to ask me.

“Wait! Dawn I thought you were spending the day with me.” I look at Niall confused as ever and read his expression ‘Go along with it.’ Is what I figured. So I nodded my head slowly at first and then decided to go with it.

“Oh yeah. Sorry Liam. I promised Niall last night to hang with him. How about a later time?” Liam’s smile fell a little and I felt horrible. ‘He’s your half-brother Dawn! You’re supposed to get to know him better.’ ‘Like I already don’t! I’ve read all about him!’ ‘That’s only what the tabloids say! You don’t know the real Liam.’ After having this inner battle I took Niall up stairs into my room to talk privately.

“Why’d you say that? I think Liam wanted me to join him on something.” Niall laughed and sat next me on my bed.

“Well I wanted to keep this private. I wanted to take you out and teach you how to ride again.” I smiled giving him a big toothy grin, but then I thought of other things that made me frown.

“I don’t know if I can get back on so early. It’s been a few years since I’ve stopped. What if I fall? What if I break the bike? Oh my gosh Niall I don’t think I can!” My voice got panicked as I thought about all the bad things that can possibly happen.

“Dawn. Think about the good things. How much fun it’s going to be once you’ve learned. How you can show off that you are good at riding. Dawn, think about the good.”  I nodded and thought about how fun it was. How the wind rushed through my hair and the nice sun on my back.

‘ “Dawn! Come on!” I followed Jess into the tunnel and raced him down there. “Not so fast mate!” He called and got too close to my bike.

“Jess! Don’t do that! We could wreck.” He chuckled as his sun kissed hair waved in the wind. His shirt ruffled as he speed in front of me.

“Babe, don’t worry. I’m always safe.” I smiled as we parked our bikes near our palm tree and settled down under it.

“I’m going to miss this….” ‘

“Okay… Let me change my footwear.” I hate thinking about the past, so I brought out my white high tops and put them on. Usually I’d wear my rider boots, but these go way better with my outfit.

We traveled a small difference to where Niall kept his bike. The bike is a beauty. From what I can ell it’s a Suzuki Vstrom dl650 Black with blue shields.

“That is the most beautiful bike I have seen.  I just had a really old Morton Grove bike my Grandpapa gave me.” Niall smirked and rubbed dust off his bike.

“Yeah she was given to me by a friend in Cali.” I smile feeling the cold metal of it.

“Let’s go to the track.”

Putting the bike in a big trolley and hooked it to the back of his car, we headed off towards the track. We arrived and set the bike on the dirt track.

“Do you remember how to start it?” I looked down at the bike I was now sat on and started it. I took the kick stand off and steadied the bike myself.

“Okay now give a little acceleration into it, but don’t take you hand off the clutch.” I did so and felt it vibrate from under me. My heart began to speed up as I felt the rush kick in. “Now slowly release the clutch and put some gas into it.” Again I obeyed him and did it. I was slowly going. Then I felt like I did those few years back. I began going faster around the track. Niall stood in the middle and kept watching me. “You’re doing great!” He called as I smiled. My eyes never left the ground. It felt so great being on the bike again. I missed it so much. I slowed down and came to a complete stop in front of Niall.

“That. Was. Amazing!” I smiled, kicking the kick stand back down and got off. My hands were shaking and my heart pumped a mile minute. I blew out some air I didn’t realize I was holding in.

“You did amazing. You’re a natural.” I looked down and couldn’t help but remember,

‘ “Dawn! You’re a natural! Keep going! Woo!” My Grandpapa cheered as I went around and around on my new dirt bike. I’m 10 and I knew it wasn’t very safe to be on one of these, but my grandpapa was so happy and had a proud look to his face. I liked the rush I got. I’ve been training for this for a while. I’, the first girl to be joining the ‘RACERS’ I loved this feeling.’

“Thanks Niall. Can we do more tomorrow?” He nodded and brought the bike back to the trolley.

“Let’s go get something to eat first.” We get some burgers from a little Café shop next to the stadium.  We made small talk but after finishing up with our food I couldn’t help but thank him again,

“I had so much fun Niall. Thanks again.”
