Loosing Edmund

Edmund's POV

Finally we were back. I could bring my brothers and sisters to the Queen and she will make me Prince of Narnia. Or at least that's what she said. We were at a different location to where the wardrobe was. Instead we were in front of a small hut made of sticks. I wonder who lived in there. It would have been so much easier if we had come through the wardrobe. There would be coats that we could wear.

Aloe's POV

"It's real!" Susan exclaimed.

"Don't worry, I'm sure it's just your imagination," Lucy said with a smirk.

"I suppose an apology wouldn't do for you," Peter suggested.

"No it wouldn't but this might!" Lucy shouted while throwing a snowball at Peter. A full on battle with snowballs broke out. It was honestly one of the best times I've ever had with the Pevensies, despite the fact that Edmund wasn't really joining in. Susan threw a snowball at Ed.

"Ow! Stop it," Edmund reacted.

"Oh come on Ed. It was just like our other snowball fight when we first came here," I explained softly.

"You little liar!" Peter snapped as he edged over to Edmund. Edmund snatched me a glance. I had told him that they weren't allowed to know we went with Lucy, because it would have put them all in danger. I told Edmund to lie if Lucy told Peter to keep them safe. And now he was getting shouted at.

"You didn't believe her either," Edmund tried to fight back.

"I apologised to Lucy," Peter reasoned, "Say you're sorry!"

"ENOUGH!" I screamed. The four of them looked at me with wide eyes. I could hear the birds flying from the trees. I hadn't used that tone of voice since I smacked Jamie back in school time.

"Stop fighting! I told Ed to lie, because I wanted to protect you. If you had found out sooner the White Witch would have took you and killed you. The prophecy would have failed us all," I explained quickly, "Now you two make up, because there are some people I would like you to meet."

I knocked slightly on the door of the wooden den and waited. I haven't been to this house by the river in a very long time. A few seconds later, two familiar beavers opened the door.

I was young then, but I grew twice as fast according to my parents. When I was one year old, I was the same size as a three year old. That's why now I am fourteen in a sixteen year old body. I could walk and talk by that age. My mother told me I was a handful, so they would drop me off at the beaver's home every weekend. I got used to calling them auntie and uncle B.

"Auntie B! Uncle B! It's me Aloe," I introduced. There shocked faces stared at all of us.

"Oh, Aloe you are all grown up," Auntie B said, "And your friends! The prophecy will come true,"

"Oh yes, this is Peter, Lucy, Susan and Edmund," I announced each one of them shaking the beaver's hands. They let us into their humble den. It hadn't changed much since the last time I saw it. It was dimly lit and hid cute little decorations to it, which made it feel like home.

"I made your favourite Aloe!" Auntie B echoed, pulling up a tray of my favourite sweet potato chips. Everyone was very hungry, so we all took a few pieces while indulging in a small conversation.

"Aslan is on the move," Uncle B said in a small whisper. All of us looked at him with interested faces.

"Who's Aslan?" Edmund asked. I knew there was something I hadn't mentioned to him about Narnia. Uncle B chuckled loudly, obviously think that Ed was joking around. We all looked at him strangely. It wasn't until Auntie B nudged him that he realised Ed wasn't joking.

"You don't know, do you?" Uncle B finally replied.

"Well, we haven't exactly been here very long," Peter tossed back. I'd say we had only been here a good forty-five minutes.

"He is the true King of Narnia," I stated after taking a bite of a potato chip.

"He has been away for a long while," Auntie B explained, "But he just got back and is waiting for you near the stone table!"

"He's waiting for us?" queried Lucy in disbelief.

"You're blooming' joking!" Uncle B exclaimed, "They don't even know about the prophecy!"

I had already told Peter and Susan about the prophecy, but I couldn't explain it fully. There was another part of the prophecy that I hadn't mentioned, because it was foretold that it could never be fulfilled. Only the wisest mind could crack it, but after centuries, nobody has figured it out.

"When Adam's flesh and Adam's blood sit at the throne in Cair Paravel, The evil time will be good and done," Uncle B explained calmly. I should have explained it that way, instead of rambling at them for ages. Susan commented on it not rhyming, indicating that they still didn't get it.

I noticed something strange moving outside, so I excused myself and went to go have a look.

Peter's POV

"It has long been foretold that two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve, will defeat the White Witch and restore peace to Narnia," Mrs Beaver explained to us. I glanced at Susan doubtfully.

"And you think we're the ones?" I doubted.

He then mentioned something about an army, but I was too focused on processing all the information that whizzed through my head. We tried arguing that we were not the ones, although I had a good feeling that we were.

Susan tried to get up and leave, but before they could argue Aloe came running down the stairs with tears streaming down her eyes. I quickly embraced her and let her cry into my shoulder, as I signalled to Susan that we couldn't leave yet. Wait Where was Edmund?

"I'm going to kill him," I threatened, instantly knowing that he did this to Aloe and that he left when there was some with out there to get us.

"You may not have to," Mr Beaver clarified, "Has Edmund ever been to Narnia before?"

Aloe slowly looked up from where she hid her head in my shoulder and nodded, before going into hysterics again. Sometimes I wish Edmund would do as he was told.

Aloe's POV

I followed the strange movement up the stairs and found Edmund pacing around in the snow.

"Edmund?" I asked, "What are you doing out in the cold?"

I shivered from the wind and inched closer to Edmund.

"I need to see the Queen again," He said coldly.

"What! Edmund you can't be serious! She'll kill you!" I shouted at him.

"No she won't Aloe!" He raised his voice. I stepped back in offense. That was the first time he raised his voice at me.

"She promised me a throne if I brought my brother and sisters here, and now they are," He explained in a serious tone. This wasn't like Edmund. He was blinded by desire and lust for something that he already has.

"You are not going to that Witch Edmund!" I argued.

"She is not a Witch Aloe!" He raged, "She is a Queen and I will follow her orders so I can get that throne!"

"Stop Edmund. You're blinded by desire. I won't let you go to her Ed, I just wont have it" I tried to argue.

"Oh yeah?" He challenged by grabbing me by the arm and pulling me towards him, "Try and stop me."

He grabbed my arm and pushed me to the ground and stalked off. Tears were rushing down my cheeks. I knelt down in the snow and just cried. I screamed to him so many times but he didn't turn back.

"Edmund!" I hollered with sorrow and pain in my voice. Every bit of my heart cracked. I thought he loved me. I thought that I was strong enough to stop him from going to the Witch, but obviously I wasn't. The coldness in his voice when he shouted at me weakened me inside. It made me feel alone and empty.

I saw that his far away image stopped, but not because I was shouting for him, it was because my whole body had erupted in flames as I was screaming. He shook his head and carried on walking. More tears spring to my eyes as I threw snow that was engulfed by a flame into the trees around me.

That was when I ran inside, desperately in need of a shoulder to cry on. Not to mention, I needed a bandage for the huge gash I had from when Edmund pushed me to the ground. He didn't notice but a rock was sticking out of the ground that I had cut my arm on.

Even though he hurt me and left me here alone, my heart still longed for him. All the tears and screams I let out where for him and only for him. I still loved him and I never stopped.
