-----Aiden POV-----

I haven't eaten in about three weeks and I was weak. I couldn't see Sah'nai sick like that and not have my anger and hunger under control. When I saw her hurting and barely able to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, it made me murderously angry. Why I haven't feed in weeks? I don't know. Sah'nai was my main priority and because of that, I almost bit her again a few days ago.

She was sleeping and didn't know how close I was to hurting her in her sleep. She wouldn't have been able to defend herself or stop me from killing her like she did last time because she's gotten worse. I don't get why she has so much faith in me, because I let her know everyday that I was a killer. I couldn't control myself all the time, especially when I haven't eaten in a while. I still can't figure out how I let myself near her when I haven't fed. I should have known to keep my distance, but she's my mate and it physically hurts me to stay away from her for too long.

Like now for example. I haven't seen the love of my existence in days. I haven't even heard her beautiful voice either and I bet that she was worried about where I was. I hated that I wasn't strong enough to go and see her yet, but I wasn't going to take that chance. I would never forgive myself is she got hurt because of me, and to be honest, right now I didn't want to hear how much faith she had in me because I knew better. I knew that I couldn't control myself.

I couldn't help but wonder how she was doing right now. Whether she was still sick or if she'd gotten better.

I could go and peek into her window but I knew that once I saw her, I wouldn't be able to stay away like I needed to. I love her. I love everything about her. I love her smile, her beautiful green eyes, her caramel colored hair, and I loved her smell. Everything she did was made me love her even more. I loved how she had faith that she was going to survive this. I don't know whether I want her to stay human or not, but I would never take her away from her family on purpose. I don't even want to think about me having to take her away from them if she didn't make it and I'd have to change her.

Sah'nai has the biggest heart that I've ever seen. She loved her family with a passion, including her best friend Rhianan. I hated to see her hurt, like when that girl Emily hurt my beautiful mate's feelings at the Halloween party, or how people would stare at her when we went grocery shopping a few days ago for her family's Thanksgiving dinner. I also hated to see the pain that she felt when she talked to her aunt and grandmother and when they left how sad she felt. I hated that she couldn't go down and spend that valuable time with her family. But what I hated the most is what this disease has done to her body.

I hated how it made her sick, and how it gave her lots of pain. I hated the horror and sadness that I saw in her eyes when she realized that her hair was falling out. In my eyes, she was still beautiful to me, no matter what she thought. If I could take this pain away from her, I would in a heartbeat. For as long as I lived I never wanted her to feel one more once of pain after what she'd been through. I'd die if that would help her get better because I wasn't selfish and she's what I want more in life.

"Aiden, just go and see her," my brother Damien said for about the hundredth time.

"Really Aiden. She's probably worried about you," Rachelle added, pushing her red hair behind her ear.

"I... I can't," I say with a groan. It was almost like being in physical pain trying to stay away from the woman that I love.

"And why is that?" Jeremy asked.

Because I haven't gotten my hunger under control yet," I say, and as I say it, I begin to imagine the scent of her blood, and the fast pounding of her heart when I kiss her. "See," I say with a hiss as I spring out of my seat. "I can't go around her yet. Not... not yet."

I leave out of the room before they could say anything I else and run up to the room that Sah'nai was curious about the night I'd invited her here. I needed blood and I needed it now because I couldn't take it anymore. I had to go and see my mate.

I ran there. After draining a couple bags of blood I felt much better. I wouldn't be able to stay the night with her, but I would just go and see her; make sure that she's okay.

Most of the lights at her house are off, including hers.

Maybe she's sleeping, I think, but the closer I get, I hear nothing coming from her room.

Panicked, I run faster. As I get to the side of the house, I jump up to her window and saw that she wasn't in her bed. I roughly open up the window, almost shattering it in the process but I didn't care. I had to find out where she was.

"Sah'nai," I called out, my voice breaking.

Where is she? I thought, falling to my knees.

I jumped back out of the window, closing it and walked towards the front door and knocking. They had to know where she was and I had to know now because it felt like my heart was about to explode,

Please don't let her be-

"Aiden," Sah'nai's mom Alana said surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"Where is she?" I asked.

"She's at Rhianan's. They're having a sleepover," Alana said quickly as she heard the desperation and despair in my voice.

I exhaled in relief.

"I thought," I say but stop myself. "I haven't talk to her in a few days," is what I said instead.

"Yeah, she felt better and we decided that she needed to have some time out of the house."

"Okay. Thank you," I say, turning around to walk off the porch.

"She should be home by tomorrow afternoon at the latest, if you still want to see her," Mrs. Huntley called out making me turn to face her.

"Thank you. I'll be around tomorrow," I say and with a wave I'm off and once she shuts the front door I'm running again. Instead in the direction of Rhianan's house.

-----Sah'nai POV-----

I was having the most fun that I'd had in a long time. We did each other's hair- well I did Rhianan's because the rest of my hair was tucked into a hat- we also did our make up and painted each others nails. We had girl talk and I listened to horror talk. Horror talk was me listening to Rhianan as she told me about what her and my brother had been up to. Apparently they'd taken their relationship to the next level and I never felt more disgusted in my life. There was nothing as bad as listening to my best friend tell me about her sexual relations with my brother. But being the good friend that I am, I listened but stopped her when she tried to go into detail. The most that I would let her tell me is why they decided to finally make that next step and how comfortable my brother made her. I couldn't hear anything else after that, so we just switched to watching movies.

We watched every genre of movie that we could find. We'd watched comedy, romance, action and even science fiction. We were currently watching a horror movie about a couple stranded on a deserted island, only for them to find out that there were others on the island trying to kill them. I had to say it was honestly the stupidest movie that I'd ever watched and I only tolerated it because I picked the last movie that we'd watched. Rhianan was a sucker for horror movies while I had a hard time sleeping that same night. I never told her how much of a scary cat I was, but I had a feeling that she knew.

I was shocked to hear my phone ring and when Rhianan and I first heard it we jumped at the shrill sound. I immediately jumped up when I saw that it was Aiden calling me. I mouthed to Rhianan that I was going to go into the hallway to talk before answering the phone.

"Hello," I say breathless from my excitement.

"Hello my love," I hear Aiden murmur and my anger at him disappearing from the past few days disappears.

"Where have you been?" I asked. "I missed you so much!"

"I missed you more," Aiden replies.

"You obviously didn't if you didn't come and see me the past couple of days," I mumble, a little of my anger coming back.

I really didn't get why he left without telling me where he'd gone. I knew that he'd left when I fell asleep but I just can't wrap my head around why he didn't say goodbye or write a note like he usually does. Also, why couldn't he call me if he "missed" me?

"I'm sorry," he says sincerely.

"Will you come and see me tomorrow?" I ask hopefully. "I'm at Rhianan's now."

"Of course I will, but can I get a hug?"

"How?" I asked, but I had a feeling I knew what was going on.

"Will you open the door?"

I didn't answer and instead walked towards the door and opened it after unlocking the deadbolt. Aiden stood on the porch in the dark, only the moonlight illuminating his beautiful face and tall frame. I immediately ran into his arms, wrapping my arms around his neck tightly, and he wrapped his around my waist, easily catching me as if I weighed nothing. I missed him too much and never wanted him to leave me ever again.

"Aiden, where have you been?" I asked, my eyes stinging and I felt myself on the verge of tears.

"I'm sorry, but do you have any idea what it's like for a vampire to be away from his mate with no contact at all? I'll never leave you again I promise."

I pulled back. "You left me?" I asked with a frown.

Aiden places his hands on my cheeks. "Only because I had to get myself under control. I haven't eaten in a while and I couldn't be around you after what happened last time," he says referring to that time I came to my house and he accidentally bit me.

Technically, I wasn't bit. It was a little scrape that drew a little blood. It didn't count to me because I was able to cover it up with make up. I just really wished that he would give himself more credit since he was able to stop.

"Why didn't you say anything?" I asked, placing my hands over his. "I could've done something."

"No, but I promise I'll never do it again. I'm sorry."

"I really did miss you Aiden," I say hugging him again.

"I missed you too Love."

I pulled back again and looked down into Aiden's perfect face, brushing some of his long hair back from his face.

"You need a haircut," I whisper.

"Will you cut it for me?" he says, his voice matching my whisper.

"Of course," I say before eagerly crashing my lips down onto his. "I love you Aiden."

"I love you too Nai," Aiden says before kissing me again.

"You should probably go," I say panting from our wild kissing. "Rhianan's dad is upstairs."

"Okay. Will you come to my house tomorrow?"

"I'm anywhere you are," I say earnestly.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

We kiss one more time before Aiden finally sets me onto my feet and I move backwards to the door. After waving to each other I walk into the house and close the door behind me. It hurts that we can spend the night together like we usually do, but we had tomorrow to spend together and I was looking forward to it.

"Was that Aiden I heard just now?" Rhianan asked sitting up.

"Yeah," I say smiling as I look to the ground guiltily. I could feel that my lips were swollen. "We haven't seen each other in days."

"Really? Why?"

"I don't know. He didn't really say," I lie, sitting back down at my spot on the floor.

"Are you too good?"

"Yeah," I say. "We're spending the day together tomorrow."

"Really? Doing what?"

"Why all the questions? What are you and Robert doing tomorrow?"

"We're goi-"

"Never mind. I done even want to know," I say holding my hands up. "I'm going to give him a haircut and then we're going to hang out."

"Have you two?" she trails off.

"No," I say quickly. "We aren't going to do that yet. We're waiting just a little while longer."

"For what?"

"I don't know! The right time."

"But..."

"Can we please just finish watching the movie? I don't want to talk about this right now."

"Boo," Rhianan says with a pout. "You never do."

"Play the movie," I say with a laugh.

"Okay. But hey, what are you doing for your birthday next week?" Rhianan asks.

"Ohmygod! I forgot about my birthday," I say thinking about how I really did forget that I was turning eighteen. "I don't know though."

My birthday is the third of December, and until a few months ago, I honestly thought that I wasn't going to make it to eighteen. Now in less that a week I would be eighteen, and I did have to start making plans.

"You should really get to thinking about it though," Rhianan says to me before playing the movie.

The movie didn't last much longer, and it ends with the couple being saved and the crazy people dead. Stupid, if I say so myself. Too tired to watch any other movies, Rhianan and I make our way up to her pale yellow bedroom and get ourselves comfortable for bed.
